I have a 2007 ES350 with over 65 k miles on the clock. I would like to change the serpentine belt as a preventive measure. Looking for a procedure on changing this belt? Pics ???
View 4 RepliesI have a 2007 ES350. It started making a vibrating noise and sometimes screech coming from the serpentine belt area. It stops when I turn off the A/C and also stops when I accelerate with the A/C on (only does it when idling).
View 3 RepliesI had my serpentine belt replaced 3 months ago because it was starting to shred. Yesterday it broke again. The garage said the second time was caused by a problem with the crankshaft pulley. Shouldn't they have noticed a problem with the crankshaft pulley the first time it was replaced?
View 5 Replies2002 Camry 4 cyl. Can the idler pulley alone be replaced on the serpentine belt tensioner? I noticed a very slight side to side play when I had the belt off. No noise from it. When I looked at rock auto, they sell the whole bracket with the pulley.

View 5 RepliesLong story short is, I replaced my 2007 Santa Fe's serpentine belt and it still squeals for some time after we start the vehicle (then stops) ... but more importantly I *think* its still slipping if we're driving during rain or on very wet roads.
Long story long is ... the problem appeared as loss of power steering and air conditioning when driving during rain. Took it to the dealer and they suggested to replace the serpentine belt, replace the shroud (plastic) that covers the belt, and replace the timing belt. As we have 36k miles on it, no one I talked to understood the timing belt suggestion. I see though perhaps its just because the car is 4 years old? The shroud the dealer claimed was cracked and may be letting water in on to the belt. However, they completely removed it and did not replace it so I was not able to inspect this myself (wife took the car in for the appointment).
I bought the new belt and put it on. The squeaking was gone but as soon as I hit rain again, the slipping was back as bad as before (and we'd lose power steering / air conditioning same as before). I had a 1.5 hour drive in rain where the belt was slipping almost nonstop; constant back and forth between catching and slipping.
When the replacement shroud came in I thought that might solve the problem - keeping moisture off the belt. However with that in place I'm afraid there is still some slippage as I've noticed some dashboard lights come on during brief heavy rain. Also the initial squeaking is back when we start the car.
I have changed belts on other cars just never a Lexs. how hard is it to do on or trucks?
View 7 RepliesThe serpentine belt starting squeaking on cold and damp mornings about 18 months ago at about 60K. I replaced it with a Dayco belt, and the noise went away for about 6 months. When the weather turned cold last winter, the noise came back. So I changed the tensioner with both idler pulleys right about when the weather warmed up, and it was fine all summer. Now that it has gotten cold again, the squeak is back yet again and as before it goes away when the car warms up. I know it is the serpentine belt because when I spray it with water the noise immediately stops. I checked all the pulleys with the belt off and when I spin them I hear no noise. Is there something else it could be?

My tensioner pulley is making noise.I replaced the rear idler pulley (can't get to the front one), but still have the noise. Mention a DIY for replacing the tensioner pulley bearing. A part number for the bearing?
View 2 RepliesI used to replace my LS430 cabin air filter myself. Now I have a 2012 LS460, and they have made the hatch door in the glove box motorized. I know to open the hatch, it has something to do with depressing the Fan button on the dash. But I don't know exactly what to press, if car should be running, or ignition simply On but not running, etc. What is the exact procedure that opens the little hatch in the glove box so I can replace the filter ? (And my primary reason for wanting to bring it to dealer is simply that it took me 5 minutes to do it on my LS430, vs MUCH longer to go to my dealer.)

I can't figure out how to route the belt around the tensioner pulley, circled in the picture (from another thread). Everyone glosses over how to do this and I can't figure it out.
It seems like the only way to get it on is to bend the belt and slide it between the pulley and the block, but that I just can't reach the blasted thing.
What is the procedure to replace the front DS turn signal? Is there an easy way to replace it or is it just a matter of reaching carefully. This is for the turn signal in the front headlight assembly.
View 3 RepliesI have tested 07 UL package a while ago, really liked the car, how it drives, really quiet, very smooth, good acceleration, very comfy etc. the only concern for me is it spacious enough ? I'm driving around 90% in town, how is it on a long trips with 2 - 4 people.... ?
Immediately after I parked ES 350, I have tried LS460 07 AWD, somehow it felt under power for me, maybe cuz it's a awd.. ES was faster in my opinion. It had it 100k miles on it, the car felt really solid like a rock, safer, but slower. Maybe a RWD would feel differently.
My plan is keep the car for 5 years or so, I'm also concern about maintenance costs too. As today I'm pretty much can get a LS 460 07 or ES 350 UL 10-12' for the same price.
In the 2008 ES350 owner manual, there is a picture of an AFS OFF switch (to turn off the Adaptive Front Lighting system) which is located at the knee dash area above your right knee (on the right side of the steering column). However, the switch is not there when I look for it in my car which has the AFS w/ HID lamp option.

For the past couple of months since having my air filter changed at Jiffy Lube the air conditioner won't come on and there's a message on the screen that says to check the air conditioner connection. I took it to Lexus to check and they only gave me an estimate of charges for $384, but no explanation of the problem. What might be wrong and the cost to repair?

View 5 RepliesMy wife's 2007 wasn't cooling very well. I put a gauge on it and it was slightly low so I added a can of R134. Cooled better for a (very) short time. Now it doesn't cool at all.
