Issues:

1. Just put her in for the SECOND brake actuator replacement at 45k miles. First failed at 22k miles, so they DO have that consistency thing nailed.

2. Also had to replace BOTH B-pillar trim pieces which have soft facing material that cannot withstand the constant barrage of seat belt buckles banging into them during retraction. They start by showing marks, then dents, and finally the material gives up altogether and begins to shred.

3. Brake shudder due to "rotor warpage." I believe this problem is due to production engineering (or lack thereof) during final assembly. Hub runout at maximum combines with rotor runout at maximum, even though both are within tolerance, to produce a stackup tolerance outside the spec which results in warpage given enough thermal cycles. The reason the problem occurs only rarely is due to hub and rotor tolerance variations AND the various stackup combinations arbitrarily selected during final assembly of rotors to hubs.

4. The recirculation-biased AC causes mold (and odor) buildup in the AC system. Since this "choice" was made by Toyota to gain U.S. CAFE credits, the fault lies more with EPA and DOT than with TMC. Still, the unsuspecting Lexus customer is the one who suffers.

I'll buy an extended factory warranty on the car, run it for another year (20k), then sell it before the chickens come home to roost.

Lexus LS 2007+ :: Brakes Shudder After Changing Pads And Machining Rotors

2008 LS600hl with 31K miles, been having low speed brakes shudder for quite sometime even after changing pads and machining rotors. This weekend thought about putting grease on the pins holding the pads, this did the trick, shudder is gone!

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2013 - Brakes Shudder When Pressed / Steering Wheel Shakes Too

My 2013 Lariat has just over 7,000 miles on it now. If you brake lightly at 55-60 you get a brake shutter, enough to feel it in the seat but also can see the steering wheel shake too. if you brake a little harder you don't feel the shudder much. is it possible to warp rotors in 7000 miles? 3500 of that 7000 was put on driving to Texas and back.

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2007 Shudder When Hitting The Brakes

My daughter, after turning 16, has claimed our '07 with 170K as her own. Both my wife and daughter have been complaining that the car shudders when hitting the brakes.

For background, last fall, they heard a loud scraping noise coming from the front wheels, I decided that after 155K, it was time for a brake job. I pulled off the wheels and proceeded to swap the pads and rotors to discover that the scraping noise was coming from a rock caught between the hub and dust shield. Didn't really think about it prior to doing this, but this is a different beast when it comes to brakes and the pads still had plenty of life left on them. The piston on the right caliper refused to go back in to allow space for the new pads, so that needed to be replaced. Quite the frustrating job.

The brakes had been fine up until a month ago or so. I took it out for a test drive, but only detected a "shudder" when braking through about 20 mph. I didn't detect any pull in the brakes and the stopping power seems fine. They seem to experience something different than I do.

I plan on pulling the wheels off and having a closer look when our schedules allow. Is there anything in specific I should look for? The mechanical brakes kick in under 10 mph, correct? If the shuddering is happening above this speed, what in the regen braking system could cause this?

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: 2013 - Getting ABS Brake Malfunction Alarms

I was having ABS Brake Malfunction alarms. After turning the car off/on it would reset. It took the dealer time to figure it out because it would not leave any error code on the computer. They finally got it to have the issue while their computer was connected and could see the error code. They then discovered there is a technical bulletin for this issue. The ABS Actuator Assembly needs to be replaced.

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: 2013 - ABS Malfunction / Lights Coming On While Driving

I have a 2013 RX and the other day experienced the ABS Malfunction lights coming on while driving on the fwy. The error went away when I turned off/on the car. I did take my car in last April to get the recall fix on this error (which was just a software update apparently).

The dealer is saying that they will do the diagnostics, but if they can't find anything, then there's nothing else they can do AND I'm responsible for a $175 diagnostic fee. Perhaps I have unrealistic expectations, but I don't feel that I should have to pay $175 for them to do the diagnostic work since the error did occur.

I have the VSC light, ABS Light, BRAKE light all on.

Check VSC System, Check ABS System, Check Brake System, Brake Malfunction.

I went to start the car this morning, battery was dead. Jump Started, and all these messages came up.

I have disconnected the battery for a good 2 hours, still no luck. I charged the battery. So its starts right up now.

The Brake Pedal is really HARD. When you brake, the car leans to the front Right Side.

When I reconnected the battery, The Brake Pedal is soft, but is instantly hard when Started.

Lexus ES 2007-12 :: Trac And VCS System Malfunction Warning

I checked the air in the tires on my 2008 350 ES with an outside temperature of around 40 degrees. Pressure gage read 25 lbs. I decided to add pressure to bring up to 30 lbs. Subsequently while driving, the Trac & VCS System malfunction warning symbol came on (the picture of a car with wavy lines behind the tires). Of course, the warning symbol of a red triangle with an exclamation symbol in the middle as well as a check engine light also came on.

I figured that the problem was that the combination of cold weather (for Houston) and the added air pressure resulted in the system interpretation of an increased skid or lack of control situation. So I let some air out to where the pressure in each tire is 27 lbs. Then I drove it 5 miles or so at speeds up to 50 mph. Made no difference. Warning symbols still there.

Lexus ES 2007-12 :: Stereo / Audio System Malfunction

I have a 2007 ES350, Navigation, climate control, touch screen all works, radio powers on and functions as if it was working. back about 6 months ago the sound audio began having a mind of its own and working randomly, very annoying to say the least. Well, now it quit all together, no sound for a couple months now.

I am knowledgeable in the area of car audio, electronics, engines etc... I think this car has a factory OEM amplifier, although I have not located it in the car yet. I know the amp is getting power because I can hear a turn on thump when I power the head unit on and off.

So I think there is a cable/connector between the head unit and the amp that was loose causing the erratic behavior, and now the bad connection = no connection as if someone yanked the RCA jacks on an aftermarket system.

FYI, I already pulled the head unit from the dash and looked for any loose connections, found none, put the thing back together and am getting really frustrated with no sound.

Lexus ES 2007-12 :: 1998 - Electrical Malfunction / Won't Start

My wife loves this car except when it won't start, and unfortunately that's happened from time to time recently. The first time was when we were out of town, when we got home, it wouldn't start. No big deal. But since then, it's developed the habit of draining the battery over very short times. We put in an after-market stereo a couple years ago, I thought that must be the problem. Pulled the fuse so it wouldn't play. Overnight the battery ran down. The battery is almost new. I took it back to the seller of the battery and had it checked. It's fine. My nephew told me that when he had a 1998 ES300, it had a similar problem. Obviously some type of battery drain, but I'm at a loss. The Lexus dealer cannot diagnose the problem.

Lexus ES 2007-12 :: Ignition Coil Malfunction - Misfire In All 6 Cylinders?

Started up my car the other night and my engine light came on, trac light came on... VSC msg came on the dash, engine was rough idling. I drove it home after checking my fluids... i took the OBD scanner to see whats going on, hoping i just need a battery change. Codes popped up P0354, P0300-0306. basically ignition coil malfunction, and my cylinders were misfiring.

I am at 62k miles and warranty crapped out at 50k. the problem was obviously electric, since all 6 were misfiring, otherwise it would only be a few. I haven't had any engine work, I just recently did a proper oil change at home(royal purple 5W30), which I've done since I've had the car in 07.. I took the car to the dealership for the CPU reprogramming for the recall in April.

About to take the car back to get it checked up on and fixed.. I am lowered on coilovers and 20" rims, which gives it a rough ride, but i dont think it would cause this problem. i dont track/race the car and i drive it relatively civilized. Lowered since 30k miles and 20"rims since 50k miles.

What could've gone wrong? timing off etc... i pulled my engine cover to check the connection points for the coils, all seems fine, no corrosion on the grounding points. i was only able to check the front 3 coils, the other 3 were hidden in the back and i wasnt able to look at them. i assume they should be fine as well..

Lexus GS 2013+ :: Brakes Have Loud Squealing

I have 2013 GS350 I bought in October with 5k miles. Currently I have 14,500 miles on it today.

Every time I have a cold start on the car, When driving at low speeds and braking, it has a loud squealing noise. Once the car has been running and driving, it goes away and doesn't came back unless I park the car and get back in an hour or so later. I went to the dealer and the guy said it's "normal", said moisture gets in and needs a few minutes break apart and that's how Lexus designs their cars. Which is believe is BS.

My 2013 gs 350 f sport sounds like a school bus. I already replace the front pads with a new set of oem pads and had them resurface the disk too. after a couple of hours the noise came back! seems like my lexus dealer can't solve my issue.

Lexus ES 2013+ :: Vibrates While Pressing The Brakes?

I am a new 2013 Lexus ES 350 owner. I've notices when I'm driving at 55mph and above that when I press the brake when approaching a stop light or stop sign I can feel a vibrations, the steering wheel doesn't vibrate and the car itself doesn't tremble but I can feel it in my foot. My husband said it could be the ABS. Maybe it's totally normal.

I have a 2007 GS350, one of my headlights will come on but shuts off after a short period. 1-+5 minutes. I can immediatly shut my lights off and then turn them back on and the light comes on.Is this the Ballast? Is it the Headlight? When I come to a slow stop my brakes squeak. I took the car to the dealer and had to prove to them that the brakes actually squeak. I drove around and pulled back to the service area and keep driving and stopping and the brakes squeaked every time. They supposedly replaced the brake pads, however, the brakes still squeak.

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: 2013 RX350 CPO Brakes Noisy

Bought a '13 RX 350 CPO from Rohrich Lexus in Pittsburgh. It has 16,800 miles on it. It's the wife's daily driver. She tells me the brakes are making noise today. I drive it...sure enough sounds like metal on metal coming from the left front. Like the pads are worn and they are scraping the rotor. No pulsation through the pedal though.

I used a pressure washer to make sure there is no brake dust build up or debris between the pads & rotor. The rotors look ok, no pitting or scoring. At 17K the pads CAN'T be worn already?! I'll jack it up tomorrow and take the wheel off for a better inspection.
