I just got a 2009 RX 350 , and I noticed that driving home with full tank of gas that my range was only reading about 250 miles. This week end I filled the tank up and the range was only reading 253 miles, after driving about 130 miles the computer is showing a range of 208 miles, The tank is showing about 3/4 full. I am showing a average of 24 miles per gallon.

On my Prius C I put 2 gallons and the cruise range shows 1 mile. Why is the computer not calculating correctly the miles. I tried it several time and get the same results,.
View 1 RepliesI had a fuel sender failure a couple of weeks ago. 60k mi.
Basically: freeway driving, fuel gauge read 1/8 tank remaining, computer indicated "10 miles till empty" but the car ran out of gas. Fuel sender, in the fuel tank turned out to be the malfunction.
Towed to the dealer...they had never, ever seen this before.
I get the car back next week, just want to bookmark this thread in case any members (God forbid) have this problem now or in the future.
I still have faith in my Lexus, but want to share as this failure was very unusual.
I just bought a used 2004 F-350, 4x4, crew cab, short bed, 6.0L diesel. I'm having a WTF moment on fuel. Gage indicates just under 1/4 of a tank of diesel but the on-board computer is flashing like crazy stating 5 miles to empty, what the hell is that all about?

In my experience from my previous vehicle. When my gas light would come on, I believe it generally meant that I had 2 gallons left in the tank before stranded.
I recently purchased a 2014 GS350 (CPO). One thing I've noticed is the cruise control has about plus/minus 2 miles per hour variance from its set speed as the car progresses over road inclines. This happens in Eco, Normal, and Sport modes.
I know +/- 2 mph doesn't sound like much, but I thought that the car would hold its set speed without much variance. Even with a manual transmission, my previous car (2006 Audi A4) kept its set speed better than the GS.
I've had this car for a couple of years now and I think this week is the first time I didn't 'fill up' when I got gas. So now the trip computer is all confused on miles to empty vs the almost half tank I have on the fuel gauge. I've tried resetting the trip & holding the button to reset when miles to empty is displayed. I'm a little nervous with the miles to empty in the single digits now.
View 15 RepliesFrom time to time, climate control will stop working. Buttons are not lit up or responsive, fans do not work, and computer doesn't show outside temperature. Problem can last a day, an hour, 10 minutes, or any other time frame. Most of the time once it stops working it will not start working until left parked and locked overnight. Sometimes when we start driving it would all of a sudden start working on its own. This has happened during multiple seasons and multiple weather conditions.
I took the car to Lexus dealer who decided it would be a smart idea to replace the whole climate control unit in the dash, well this past weekend the problem occurred again with brand new climate control unit in place.
I have been driving the Prius C of my parents and as of last week I am a proud owner of 2008 Prius V. Where I can see the range that I have with the gas in my tank? In Prius C when you press the Trip button the odometer changes from trip A to B then to full odometer and then range.
View 5 RepliesYesterday I got the low fuel warning "Range 35 miles". I drove another 10 miles, then put 10.84 gallons in. That range warning seems really conservative, since the tank is 13 gallons. I wonder how many miles I *really* have after the car warns me. (I know it is affected by my speed, terrain, head winds, if AC is on, and so forth.) . Has to try driving til they ran out of gas after getting that low fuel warning?
View 24 RepliesI have a question regarding my shaking car (Toyota Avensis Diesel 2.0 1999) while accelerating.
The shaking occurs when I accelerate, especially within the range of 45-75 miles per hour (70-120km/h). It's at it's worst around 60 mph. Whenever I release the gas pedal it stops. It also stops whenever I go faster than 75 mph. When I drive at a constant speed between 45-75 mph, the car stills shakes, but a bit less than when I accelerate. It doesn't seem like there is any specific location from where the shaking originates. It's all over, but there's no shaking of the steering wheel itself. The tyres are ok. After some suggestions I recently put some injection cleaner into a full tank, but with no results.
I know that's a normal msg, but what has me thinking is the fact I've had my truck just over 2 weeks and it only has 1350 miles on it. My understanding is that a tank of DEF should last at least 5000 miles (service interval), which means either my delivery prep guys overlooked filling it or it using way more DEF than it should.

Test drove it with my wife, fell instantly in love, and signed the paperwork. As part of the dealer delivery, they gave a full tank of gas and washed/waxed the car.
While enjoying the 8 mile drive home in 5:00 traffic, regular speeds of 40-50 mph without any start/stop on the freeway and surface roads, I noticed that the range (distance to empty) on the full tank was only 169 miles!
I realize this is a hi performance V8 - but c'mon! Is there something wrong with the car?
I have a 2007 GX470. My range indicator was showing 34 miles left. I filled up the tank and at first my fuel guage still showed E and range was showing 34 miles. I shut off the car and the fuel gauge started showing a full tank but my range still showed 34 miles. As I drove, the range decreased to 0 and it is still showing 0 for the range. How can I reset this so that it will show the correct range? I asked the dealer if there is a reset for it and they said you can bring it in and we can diagnose it for $100.
View 2 RepliesWe have an 04 GX-470. Most of the time the fuel gauge and the range readout work OK. However, sometimes, the fuel gauge works, but the range shows 0 miles, or they both don't work - fuel gauge shows empty and range = 0. My wife says she thinks she's seen the gauge = empty but the range still showing xxx miles - I haven't seen that.
We've been to 2 different Lexus dealers, paid for diagnostics at both and gotten no fix. In fact, they have both said they can't find anything wrong.
To my way of thinking, these would both get their initial information from the same source - some sort of sender unit on the fuel tank. However, as both gauges do not always go out together, I'm inclined to think that this probably isn't the cause. I would think that the range readout comes from some calculations done by the onboard computer.
Is the drcc on the 2013 full-speed range or is it partial speed range? (will it bring the car to a stop or does it only work above certain speeds?)
View 18 RepliesSo when I first got my car, the dealer had put in a full tank of gas and the miles to empty range was at 347~. After several fill ups since my purchase, the miles to empty has been dropping every time I filled up. A few fill ups ago, I remember it was 327. The latest fill up was about 318. What gives? Do the current MPG avg affect this number? What is the factor for the variance?
View 17 RepliesThe GX has 49k and I have not even owned/driven it for 400 miles when the alternator craps out. I am not really pissed since its a used car and these things happen. Good thing Carmax has a 30day warranty. They towed it to their shop and replaced it with a new alternator. The customer service was great and they gave me a 6month/6000 mile warranty on it too. My German cars had at least 80k before their alternators crapped out
View 5 RepliesMy 2006 GS300 has oil burning issue after 80k miles now my odo is at 110k miles. I have changed my oil every 5000 miles, keep burning about 1 quart every 1k miles average. Literally burnt about 20 quarts of an oil with premium fuel. At 105k miles, I had replaced my bank 2 sensor 2 after the check engine light and vsc light came on, reset the code those lights came right back on.
Check the code again, found out bad cat converter between passenger side sensors. The recalls has been done at 65k miles at dealer. My questions are :
-What would be the cause of burning that much of an oil? No leaking on floor or bad smell.
-Is burnt oil causing the failure of cat converter?
-If I replace the cat, will it go bad again?
I have GX470 2007 (100k miles) and last weekend I noticed that I drove 60 miles (on streets) and gas needle was down to 1/2 of tank. When I went to gas station to fill up, I was able to get only 5 gallons and tank was full. I drove another 45 miles (on the highway), and needle already was down to 3/4 of tank. I did not have this in the past. I was getting 12-14 miles / gallon on the street and 20 - 21 miles / gallon on the high way.
View 6 RepliesAs odd as it may sound, our Prius salesman told us we should not use the cruise control on our 2010 Prius II for the first 1500 miles. We could not find any such warning in the manual. Did we just misunderstand or was the salesman correct?
