I've had my 2012 passat for one week and I love it but on two different occasions I've heard cracking noise coming from the top of the dash where it meets the windshield right after I started driving. It goes away after a few seconds and on both occasions it was hot outside.

I had the windows tinted about a week ago, and am wondering if they could have dropped or left some sort of cleaner or chemicals on the dash.
Have a cracking noise coming from the rear windshield/deck when going over bumps when the car is cold? I've had this consistently since I got the car. It also has been consistently cold so there have been no warm days for me to tell if this noise goes away when it's warm out or not. It is extremely annoying though and I can't really pinpoint what it is either.
View 2 RepliesI get a annoying cracking noise when I am driving and it is hot outside, have not noticed it in cooler weather, but as soon as the car has been sitting for hours in the heat and I start driving the dashboard seems to crack every few minutes. it seems like it happened on the corners where the tweeters are. I also get a crackiling sound when driving, sounds like rocks are hitting my window.

View 6 RepliesBlack dash panel has cracked or broken. My EX is from Oklahoma but had been garaged most of its life paint is good, the plastic outside on mirrors and cowl are still black but the dash panel is brittle. I installed a new radio and broke it just above the cluster taking it off glued that back together got the radio installed and all was good for about 2 months then it started cracking around the radio. Now the radio just slides in and out. Anyway I'm in need of a new dash panel not sure if I should go with an 05 or paint an older one to match.
View 14 RepliesI took my car to the dealer last week to repair a clicking noise coming from the juncture of the right front windshield and dash. They said they added felt to the speaker grill and fixed it. NOT SO, still makes the noise, it is better though seems to get better when the weather is warmer. How to get the speaker grill off without damaging it. If so I will try to address the thing myself.
View 14 RepliesWhy is there a gap between the front and rear windshield with a recess behind? All kinds of crap get stuck in that gap and then it is impossible to clean out. I also have to wonder if that is part of the reason there is so much wind noise. It seems to me that perhaps it gives a cleaner appearance and it is indeed nice that I don't have to worry about unsightly deteriorating rubber seals as the car ages, but it is really difficult to clean that stuff out. Also, there is a gap where the bottom of the door window frame meets the window seal where the window comes out of the door. Stuff also gets stuck in there. I need to add tweezers to my car wash kit to get all of this out.
View 2 RepliesI've got a 2001.5 v6 passat w/ auto and my shift knob has this cool burl veneer on it. I think it's real wood but it's pretty thin and it's got cracks on the front and the back. I can't see any simple way to remove the stick so that I can try to glue it. How to do that. But it's a standard tiprtonic shifter ... probably the standard on that model.
View 3 RepliesNoticed the shiny black door pillars forming hairline cracks? My 2012 is now over 3 years old and has 34k miles and is not garage kept. The pillars are starting to show cracks pretty bad in what looks like the clear coat. The drivers side is much worse, but I think that is due to that side getting more sun during the day while I'm at work. With that being said, I still don't think these should be cracking this soon.

Or even while turning into our driveway before we go up it. Somewhere I heard the steering rack, which can cost over $2,000 (supposedly)
View 3 RepliesSort of sounds like the body is flexing when I initially back out of my driveway. Slight drop-off from the driveway to the road, and a kind of loud creak/cracking/popping noise seems to emanate from the right side of the car. No noise I can notice while driving and once the car does it, it takes a while before it will do it again, like after driving on level ground for a bit. Frame issues maybe?

This always happens when I'm turning in or out of a driveway or over a speed bump. What it could be. Usually at low speeds and usually when I'm turning. It is very annoying!
View 14 RepliesI purchased a 2012 Camry SE V6 end of December 2011. I really like the car's performance but have an annoying issue.
Above the driver's position, I hear short popping or cracking sounds when the car is moving and going over bumps or when the road twists. This sounds like a body structural issue and comes from the roof area to the left of the sunroof. This happens less often when it is sunny and more often when it is not sunny so the cooler metal may be the issue. The noise sometimes stops altogether when it is sunny or after the car has been driven for an hour. Once it sits for a couple of hours on an overcast day, the annoying pop/crack will start up again.
The door panel was replaced but the problem continued.
I recently bought an'08 Base model. It is making a creaking noise in the front end on the left side either behind the wheel or under the motor. It only does it when taking off from a stop and/or turning mainly to the right during slow speed, seems to be when the body weight is shifting. To me it sounds as though something needs greased or maybe a strut.

View 6 RepliesI have this strange creaking almost a sharp cracking noise coming from the rear part of the roof near my head when I go over some bumps. I have tried all the usual methods; lubricating roof rubbers, adjusting bump stop under package shelf; adjusting roof height using the grub screw adjustment; nothing seems to work. It almost sounds as if the noise is coming from some of the hard plastic roof trim but I can't seem to pinpoint it despite using foam padding, silicone spray etc..
View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 Toyota Avalon Limited. For the last three years or so I get a very loud cracking noise from the Radio, I can even turn it off and it continues or gets louder. I took it to the dealer, they think it is some of the speakers. Since are 12 speakers, not sure I want to start replacing them. I thought it might be the amplifier, took to an electronics guys. He took a lot of the car around the radio apart, we could never find the amplifier. I think the amplifier is in the trunk with the GPS Disk Player. If you were going to replace something, would be the radio, amplifier, or? The only way to stop it is to remove the fuse which causes the radio and GPS screen to not work.
