I just gut a prius 3 ,2012. On March 2013 with 14,00 miles on the car.on 09/12/2013 always had vibration but they suppose to fix that when they balance the tires even put four new mechelins primacy car still has vibration . Master tech. and toyota said car operative as designed. I am doing the paper work to go to arbitration. Car has 31,000 even drove one at dealership new same problem.

I have been hearing a a very subtle (but noticeable) noise coming from within the dash area of my 2002 Passat (mostly near the glove box side, but also in the middle area). Noise occurs when the ignition is turned on - with or with out the engine running. It can be heard while driving, but is more noticeable when I turn the HVAC fan to off. The sound is random, and seems to be like a relay dithering, an intermittent buzzer or a fan noise (although no fan is on.) It sort of sounds like a cell phone vibrating randomly in the glove box.

They also felt the Buzz/Vibration in my car.
When I accelerate, particularly between the 50-60 mph range, the engine makes a very subtle, yet definite clicking noise. Mentioned this to the dealer - the car is still under warranty - and of course, they can't replicate the sound..is this common?
View 19 RepliesThere is an intermittent buzz coming from the center console of my 2010 Prius trim level 2. It seems to be coming from the climate control system. It lasts for about three seconds, and it sounds like a fan with a bad bearing or rubbing against something else.
The buzz occurs when starting the vehicle after it has been off for several hours, and intermittently while driving (maybe once every couple of days), and exactly one minute after powering off. It began occurring a few months ago.
Vehicle: 2010 Prius with Solar Roof.
Issue: There's a buzz coming from the ceiling approximately over the rear right seating area.
Solution: TBD.
On more than one occasion, when I have gone in my garage at around 5 a.m., I hear a hum/buzz coming from the back end of my Prius. It has to come from the battery pack because the sound seems to come from under the back end of the car and is not as audible when I open the hatch.
View 2 RepliesHit a MASSIVE pothole this PM at about 80mph... Car felt 'different' almost immediately. A subtle vibration coming from the steering wheel... which could also be felt on the dash, but ever so slightly. As if something was 'out of round'- OR is I had a bad bearing.
Pulled over at a gas station, but I saw nothing wrong with the tire or wheel. Was very surprised by this as I thought for sure I had a bet wheel or a bubbled tire. Only thing loose was the center cap.
Making an appointment this week at a dealer to check things out. Hoping it is just the bent wheel, busted tire, or wheel alignment issue... but thinking its more than that possibly.
What should I be asking the dealer to check for me? Control arm, drive shaft, strut, bearings... anything else?? I would hate to get the car back with the same vibration, and have them tell me 'all is Ok, we see nothing wrong'.
Just bought my R a few months ago and love it so far. I've recently encountered a slight buzz or vibration. I'll get down to the nitty gritty and not bore you with long drawn out information. Basically under heavy acceleration the driver side vibrates/ buzzes down by the floorboard. Now this only happen under heavy acceleration. I even did a test in 1st gear. Heavy accellerate under 2k RPM's, 3k RPM's, 4k RPM's and the vibration happened under these heavy acceleration periods. It's almost like there was also a loss of power during this vibration/ buzz, which leads me to believe it might be the clutch.
I took off the prop shaft and drove in FWD for a few weeks. The vibration was still prominent. Took of both front driveshafts and inspected those and they seem perfect but THE VIBRATION IS STILL HERE. Could this be the clutch?
I have a 2003 GMC Yukon, 5.3 engine with 4x4, and with flex fuel option. The vehicle is making a vibration type sound. The sound is almost like a buzzing type sound. It's not overly loud and it's a low vibration buzz. This sound is not continuous, but occurs when the accelerator is applied. It will last for several seconds and then go away. This happens between the speed of 0-40 mph, but only when the accelerator is pressed. The vehicle will not make any vibration sounds when coasting. At speeds of 45+mph, there is no noise even when the accelerator is applied. I tried to pin point the sound, but it is very hard to locate. My best guess would be at the rear of vehicle. Maybe even where the fuel tank is located. This wouldn't be the fuel pump? I don't have any problems starting the vehicle or loss of power though.
View 3 RepliesSo I just had the 10k service done on my GTI and after I got it back everything seemed fine. That is, until under moderate acceleration there was a weird buzz or vibration that came on around 2800-3400rpm coming from what I think is the engine bay or near the firewall on the passenger side. I was able to repeat the issue multiple times and it showed up every time. However, with the car at a stop and in neutral and revving it I can't make the problem occur only when under load, in gear, and traveling at speed. If I could describe it, it sounds like a playing card against bicycle spokes (for those of us who did that when we were kids)..
Anyways, I drove it straight back to the dealer and at that point had closed their service shop but they did do the right thing and give me a loaner car until they can look at it on Monday. How the heck could this pop up after a 10k service? What all do they do besides oil change, tire rotation, and fluid inspection?
I did pop the hood and one of the side of the fuel rail sounded louder than the other, I suspected that maybe one injector is starting to go and it seemed like an isolated noise but perhaps its not an injector at all. Nonetheless it seems this is a non-related issue..
I've been noticing that when I need to make a hard stop, I will feel a sudden engine vibration for about 1 second as soon as it comes to a complete stop. The same feeling you might get when the RPM drops too low. It only does it for like 1 second though. I am not sure if it is the gears shifting down that is causing this. I won't feel it if I am making a gradual slow stop. Only fast sudden stops.
View 27 RepliesHave a 99, ext cab, 3.0 , 5 spd man. 125,000 on it. I know the clutch will need replaced shortly but so far it is still functioning with out the slipping. Although I can feel a slight vibration, or buzz when I up shift. My immediate concern is the clattering/rattling. say at idle, not moving with the clutch pushed in when I shift into 2nd and 4th gear it really rattles loud. I can only assume it is some bearing inside the transmission, but need to have a bit more surety as to the problem. I know, I need to do the clutch however i don't know if the transmission is going bad or is that noise in the clutch area.
View 2 Replies2014 Camry, 4 cyl. 65K ... Wife's car has developed a vibration that is going to be hard to get a dealership service group to troubleshoot due to randomness. I drove it for 30-45 mins today and have this description:
-Vibration, either described as a 'buzz' or a 'high frequency vibration'
-Happens in the 28-38mph range (different points)
-Under very slight acceleration. (hard acceleration efforts produce nothing)
-Can't swear to it, but feel like it is always in 'high' gear
-feel it in 'seat of pants', NOT through the steering wheel
-Is faint on sound, but you can hear something
-Is typically only a second or two
-Is very hard to 'create', but then happens unexpectedly.
-My wife first reported it to me, and I took my son on the test drive today and he could feel it as well when it hit, but couldn't pinpoint it as it comes and goes so quickly, but again, you feel it in the seat/butt more than anywhere else.
I've checked lug nuts to try to eliminate something easy and they are fine.
Since it is relatively slow speeds and under very slight acceleration, can there be a 'solenoid' that is creating a false shift effort, but just vibrates the trans instead? Without any info other than what I have stated above, I'm leaning toward transmission, but again, probably not enough info to go on....
I recently purchased a 2011 Hyundai Elantra GL 4 Door. I am noticing a horrible but hard to define noise. It is like a whine (like power steering pump) but not because there is electric power steering on this car, it also is kind of a mechanical grind - can't really define the sound I will try to record and post later. Any way... the sound occurs when accelerating, the harder the acceleration the worse the sound.
View 6 RepliesIn the last two weeks, our 2013 Elantra (we have a 2014 also) has developed what I can only describe as a "hum" from the front of the car... only at speeds over 40 mph. It sounds like a electrical transformer hum/buzz. Other than the sound, the car drives and performs as always. It just went over 52k miles.
If you are going 70 mph and put the transmission in neutral, it's still there. Not a transmission sound. If you turn the A/C on and off, it's still there. Not the A/C compressor. It does not get much louder or more pronounced as speed increases, which lead me to believe it is not the alternator or a pulley, and you can't hear it when the car is parked and you rev it up.
The only other source I can think of is the electric power steering motor. I am taking it to the dealer in a few days to let them see if they can diagnose and correct this issue.
This is on a 2010 GTI with 20K km.
I've noticed a buzzing noise coming from the front of the car whenever I coast downhill. Almost sounds like an off-tune radio. Noise gets louder as the car picks up speed, and becomes quieter as I brake. What can it be? I think I was in 3rd gear.
Just bought certified preowned 2009 Prius from dealer. Never had one before. I did test drive it for 20 minutes before purchase. But on the way home from buying it today I noticed a constant and subtle "stammer," on the freeway at speeds between 50 and 80 mph, like as if the car was very slightly and frequently shifting in speed even though the accelerator was in a constant spot and the road was flat. I watched as the display constantly shifted, like many many times per minute, where and how power was being generated/used.
View 12 RepliesI'm not even a Prius owner yet but have test driven 5 used ones in the last few days. The thing that is bugging me is a very subtle thump when coming to a stop. I noticed it on an 06 with 77k mi and also an 08 with 45k. I am more curious about the 08 as it was more noticeable and I drove the car quite a bit trying to figure out the sound, when I would slow down from about 35mph just as the car was at 3mph just before coming to a complete stop(and coming to a normal/gentle stop, not jamming on the brakes), there is a little thump. To me it sounds like possibly one of the electrical motors is stopping it's rotation and causing it, or maybe the braking system. When I abruptly stopped it would not occur. When I would slow from just 15mph to a stop I did not notice it. The 06 with 77k almost seemed like it would make the same sound but do it two or three times while gently braking and much more subtle than the 08.
