I have a 2007 Prius, the ready light would come on, but when I pushed the start button, the engine would turn over and stop?
Had the car towed to the Toyota Dealer, and they told me that the HV ECU was bad? After replacing the ECU, it still would not start, now the dealer is telling me it's the inverter or the transaxle?
I replaced the starter with one from the store, and it started right up, the idle corrected itself and all was good. However, intermittently when I turn the key, nothing happens, no clicking or anything. I get dash lights, but the car does not even try to start. So I turn the key off, and try again, and typically it started right up, or it continued, I put it in neutral, pressed the break, and the car started, however, sometimes in neutral the car did not not start either. I am wondering if I need to clean/replace my NSS or if something else could be and issue ? Where else should I look ? Maybe the ignition switch?

After a few aaa calls and realizing hitting the starter would get the car to start, I realized it might be the starter. Now, the car won't start even after having one person hit the starter while I turn the key.

Display works with the "Hybrid System Warning" message, but nothing else works.
Did the cam sync replacement on my 96 explorer awd 5.0 l had the tool dropped the sync got it back to where the last one was. Followed the procedure pretty close I did forget to remove the battery cable. So here is the issue I now have 0 fuel to the rail. is there something I might have messed up or left unplugged that would cause this. Did my fuel pump poop out the same time my sync did. I am stumped as even where to start .

This happened a couple of weeks ago and then again. ALL the buttons on my steering wheel work, AC, Temperature, Defrost, Recirculation etc , except Audio. ( Dash audio functions work fine! )
The last time, restarting the car and the functions came back to life.
Is there some kind of official "reboot" process for the computers?
I have a Prius for a company car. They have replaced the battery twice now and the thing only has 44000 miles on it. Got in it again after leaving an account this morning and it would not start. I let it sit about twenty minutes then it started. All my radio stations go out and every day I have to reset the clock. They have sent it in twice now and cannot find an issue but it keeps happening. Today was the fourth time in less than two months.
View 18 RepliesSo I started having the issue with my drivers side headlight going out and saw the many threads regarding issues with the bulbs and ballast.
I started out purchasing a new bulb, from ebay TOYOTA PRIUS GENIUNE PART PHILIPS D4R 42406 XENON HID HEADLIGHT LIGHT LAMP OEM
Came in "Toyota" box. Got the bulb in and still had issues with the light turning off... so then I bought the after market ballast and replaced it yesterday. Light still going off.... What to check? Just read the article regarding bulbs, going to pull out the one I just got and have a better look at it.... Not all HID Bulbs are created equal.
The battery is about 6-month old and my mechanic replaced the starter last week as the car had a hard time to start. Since then it has no problem except once in a cold day (about 35 degrees) it took 10 minutes to get started. Every time I switched the key, no sound came from the starter or the engine, just like what happened with the old starter. But this only happened once. I didn't have trouble in other occasions with the new battery and the new starter. What could be the problem?

I replaced the cell and put the battery back in now the check engine light is on and the problem triangle is on and the car wont start and only shifts into neutral but when I check for codes i get nothing .
View 6 RepliesI took my 2005 Prius to dealer and was told both battery computer and battery CPU were bad (easy $4,000.00 fix). So, I pulled big battery, located bad cell and replaced with similar voltage (7.9 VDC used cell). After re installing, the car will only go to neutral and will not start. Note, before tear down, car would start and run (I drove home from dealer). Before pulling big battery I could reset trouble lights for short time by removing ground to AUX 12V battery. Now, lights don't change and are always on. Car will not start or run and will only go in "Park" and "Neutral" and "B" does not show on dash like usual.

View 2 RepliesI have a Passat 2.0 TSI 2008. Today after having lunch I tried to start the car to return to my office, but it didn't start. The lights dimmed like the power was draining. I tried again and no sign of a start and no lights this time. Called my insurance 24h assistance. They brought a spare battery and we connected it so as I could start the car. The started this time. Disconnected the spare battery, and left the motor running for 10 minutes. Instead of turning off the car, I decided to drive it a while to feel if everything was fine.
Well, the A/C turns on, but automatically turns off in a few seconds. The cruise control shows an exclamation sign and the horn is faint. When I stopped the car I noticed that the lights on the dash were kind of faint. Now, I am not sure I will manage to turn it on again. The battery seems to be on good shape. It has about 1,5 yr now and I could see that the indicator is green.
My 2002 Grand AM turns over like it wants to start but dies right away. Head lights and all work good but right off dome light, radio, and electric car door locks didn't work. After reading and trying the security bypass by putting the key to ON etc., many tries I did finally kill the battery. Jumped it for quite a while and same issue.
The security light has been on for years with no issue but doesn't narrow down if it is the bypass problem since it stays on but the other electric items not working at the same time has me perplexed.
Twice in the past week our truck wouldn't start. The first time I sprayed starting fluid in the intake and it started. This morning I went to the Dr and when I got out it wouldn't start again and my can of starting fluid didn't squirt. I called my wife and had her bring another can but in the mean time I changed the fuel pump relay in the fuse box under the hood and it started reluctantly, it sputtered at first until I put some pedal to it. I don't think that is the problem. I got it home and checked the codes, there were none. I'd say fuel filter but it runs good at high speed. If there were no spark there would be a code so I assume it's fuel related. It's run perfectly since I acquired it last year.
View 3 RepliesTested and replaced 2 bad battery cells in my 2007 Prius... Got everything put back together and now all dash lights are on and engine won't start... When i try to shift into drive or reverse it goes directly into park... I tested the battery without removing the safety key and the inside terminals are at 220 volts and the outside terminals are at 0 volts as shown by photo... Maybe due to a fuse somewhere?
View 19 RepliesI'm a new Prius owner (only 500 miles) and have experienced a lot of issues so far. Today I got in my car and both front and rear windows were fogged up. I turned on both defoggers and the front window would not clear. I set the vent speed to high and could hear a noise like the air was blowoing, but it did NOT clear the front window - I had to clear it with a cloth so I could see.
View 19 RepliesLooking at the owners manual and it states that if you have the key on you the unlock will work. Well, I can't unlock the hatch door on my Prius 2 with my hands unless the door(s) are first unlocked. This seems odd, yes?
View 18 RepliesI recently took a trip up .and I noticed that driving up long inclines my battery just drained to practically nothing.
When I got to level terrain it'd charge but to not to full level. and for my entire trip it didn't ever really charge much. However once I got down to lower altitudes and drove to my home It charged right up and has retained its charge.
When I filled up with gas today the mileage in the display didn't reset to back to zero after I turned the car back on and drove away. Is this indicative of a problem, or is it just a fluke?
View 16 RepliesWas sitting in my car on my lunch break playing the radio and had my seat heater on, and all of a sudden my radio kinda went staticy and died and my car completely died. Had to power it back down then back up to get it running, battery didn't show very low, but when I went into start mode (non accessory) it immediatly started the ICE and charged.
