My camry isn't starting and I thought it was the battery (5 yrs old) and got a new battery. After that, starting was difficult and it still wouldn't start. After a few aaa calls and realizing hitting the starter would get the car to start, I realized it might be the starter. Now, the car won't start even after having one person hit the starter while I turn the key.

Last Thursday the battery was dead. I could jump the car and it was fine. Drove for 20 minutes to work and 10 hours later it was more dead than in the morning. I bought a new $150 battery, the heavy duty one, that Thursday. Friday everything was fine, 60 + miles. then Sunday for another 30 miles, no issues. This morning it almost didn't start, then later going home I needed to jump it again.
There is nothing plugged into any of the 12v power adapters. No Lights left on. Seems like it's not charging? So I was thinking alternator. Though reading on here seems Like i'd get some check engine lights/codes about the alternator??
What can I do to check if the alternator is charging? I have a meter and am good with electronics, but do not know that much about cars... Looks like the alternator is burried under the front left og the engine as you are looking at it standing in front??
I have had my TREG for 5 weeks now. It has 650 miles on it. I left it over the weekend and it was dead this morning. The key didn't even unlock the door remotely. This vehicle has no NAV and is 2006. I have read other posts, but they all seem to be for 2008. it is going to to the dealer this afternoon.
View 5 RepliesI replaced the starter with one from the store, and it started right up, the idle corrected itself and all was good. However, intermittently when I turn the key, nothing happens, no clicking or anything. I get dash lights, but the car does not even try to start. So I turn the key off, and try again, and typically it started right up, or it continued, I put it in neutral, pressed the break, and the car started, however, sometimes in neutral the car did not not start either. I am wondering if I need to clean/replace my NSS or if something else could be and issue ? Where else should I look ? Maybe the ignition switch?
View 9 RepliesDid the cam sync replacement on my 96 explorer awd 5.0 l had the tool dropped the sync got it back to where the last one was. Followed the procedure pretty close I did forget to remove the battery cable. So here is the issue I now have 0 fuel to the rail. is there something I might have messed up or left unplugged that would cause this. Did my fuel pump poop out the same time my sync did. I am stumped as even where to start .
View 1 RepliesI replaced my dead battery today. Once the new battery was in everything worked just fine except for the radio. The radio is not in safe mode it is completely dead. The radio worked after my last jump. I had turned it off before replacing the battery. Now it will not turn on and the security light does not blink.
I have checked the fuse and it looks good. I have removed the fuse for a while and put it back in with no luck. Is there a trick to getting it to come back on?
I'm in the habit of starting the car andthen putting on my seat belt while it is warming up.So I used the Carista OBD2 app to disable the seat belt chime on my 2015 Camry. This is supposed to be the same as doing it from Techstream, I believe.But the ding still sounds several times once I turn the key. The seat belt warning light also flashes in synch with the dings.I confirmed the settings:

ENABLED / *DISABLED*
Seat belt warning ding (front passenger)
ENABLED / *DISABLED*
The battery is about 6-month old and my mechanic replaced the starter last week as the car had a hard time to start. Since then it has no problem except once in a cold day (about 35 degrees) it took 10 minutes to get started. Every time I switched the key, no sound came from the starter or the engine, just like what happened with the old starter. But this only happened once. I didn't have trouble in other occasions with the new battery and the new starter. What could be the problem?

View 2 RepliesSo my toddler turned on my dome light on Friday and I didn't realize it all weekend. Monday morning the battery was D.E.D. Charged it all day then jumped it and it turns over but no start. Took it to Autozone for a deep charge and test and ended up with a new battery. Installed it and the engine turns over but still won't start. It ran fine on Friday. This car is my commuter and I don't want to spend the money to take it to the shop. Why it won't now start? Could the dead battery have killed something else while it sat in my driveway?
View 5 RepliesThe dealershhip told me my 12volt battery may be dead. the symptoms are the car has now power and the key fobs do not work. I tried jump starting last night. The first time I hooked up jumper cables up my alarm started going off. I lost connection and reconnected and only the orange light came on on the power button, and check engine light came on and green light came on on park button.
View 17 RepliesI replaced the battery, red light lights up but none of the functions work. Other remote works fine. I followed the instructions in the manual about resetting a remote but it doesn't work. Started doing some research and found many options and spare parts available. Also found several different ways to reset but none have worked. Thought it might be a good time to replace the worn remote with a new one too. I ordered new parts, put the immobilizer in the new body and it starts fine but still can't get any of the remote functions to work.
View 2 RepliesYesterday when I pulled in my garage, my 2007 Prius starting locking over and over by itself- it was freaking me out.
In doing some internet research and on here, I realized that my unlock key was “stuck†and could not be pushed in, and I assume this is what was causing the automatic unlocking. I have played around with it, but so far I have not been able to open it up or pop it back in place as some have been able to do.
A couple of questions:
I think this has caused the battery to die on my FOB, because none of the buttons work now, and the red light doesn't flash when a button is pushed. But, the smart key system still works, the doors unlock when I touch the handle, and I can drive the car. Will that continue to work with a dead battery in the key FOB??
What bugs me about this is I NEVER use the buttons on the FOB- always use the smart entry, etc, so I know I didn't do anything to cause the unlock button to stop working...
I have a 2007 Prius, the ready light would come on, but when I pushed the start button, the engine would turn over and stop?
Had the car towed to the Toyota Dealer, and they told me that the HV ECU was bad? After replacing the ECU, it still would not start, now the dealer is telling me it's the inverter or the transaxle?
The car battery in my wife 2002 v6 camry died in the car, so now we can not get into the car to remove the battery, how do i go about unlocking the door with out a lock smith involvement? Oh we tried using the keys that failed.

So old battery was on its last breath, made it to autozone, got a new Duralast Gold battery (don't really know how good it is, but had 5 year warranty and 3 year replacement). figured what the hell. anyway, now the car idles at about 500rpm or sometimes a little below that and shakes like its about to stall. never stalls though.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2009 XLE Camry which has been running smoothly for years. I failed to replace my old battery on-time and my drained battery surprised me on Christmas morning. I tried to jump-start it, long story short but something went wrong during jump-start and I lost all the lights on my dash (I can't say I didn't cross the cables but I'm pretty sure I was fully awake that morning).
I bought a new battery and replaced the old one, lights on dash are back on, the engine starts but there is no acceleration at all, the car just moves forward on D and backwards on R but no acceleration on gas pedal. I did some research and figured I might have blown a fuse, I opened my fuse box under my hood and found out my 10 Amp ETCS fuse is blown. I changed the fuse and now acceleration is back, I can drive the car but I get this 'VSC System Check' error on my dash, the 'Check Engine' light is also on and the AC fan is not working.
Could it be another blown fuse? Is this something I can fix by myself?
today I replaced the battery on our 2002 Camry SE 2.4l because it was incredibly slow to crank today...but it did crank. So i get a Duralast Gold to replace a Toyota TrueStart battery, and it started up fine. However, it was idling at 200-400 RPMs, so its already not right. So I drive it a quick mile or so, and when letting off the gas the RPMs drop to 200-400 while going down the street! Coming to a stop, it really wanted to stall out. Couple stops later, it did stall out, and the Check Engine light, Battery light, and Oil light all came on. Trying to restart it it cranked, started, but then immediately died. You know when you start it the RPM needle goes high and then comes down a bit? It does that, but the needle won't stop and it just goes to 0, and throws the Check Engine, battery, and oil light. I finally got it cranked, and all 3 previously mentioned lights are off when its running. It has done it one other time about 3 months ago when I disconnected the negative battery terminal for some work, and it did the same exact thing. It ended up just fixing itself, but obviously not since its rough starting and the problem came back the next time I disconnected the battery.
View 14 RepliesMy wife left the lights on in the 2001 Camry and completely draining the battery. I tried to jump her but the car would not start (turns over great). Also the electrical system was strange in that the lights would not go off and other electrical items did not function. I disconnected the battery and fully recharged it and put it back on. I noticed that the "ALT" (100A) fusible link was blown and replaced it. Car still will not start (turns over great). The electrical problems appear fixed however the radio does not work. I tried to read the codes on the ODB and got "ERR". I checked all other fuses and they are good. I checked the pin-out voltage on the ODB port and was reading ~11.5V. I am wondering if I missed something like is the ECM bad? I can replace this myself for $150, but if I have it towed to a dealer it will cost me $800. Is there a way I can be sure that the ECM is bad, also are there other things to check that I may have missed. Also, when I turn the key to the "on" position, but do not start the car, the "Check engine" light does not illuminate.
View 5 RepliesI changed the resistor but level 5 still didn't work with the new resistor installed... Found out that it was a 30 amp fuse #53 under the hood, the high level blower fuse. Installed a new fuse, put the old resistor back in and the AC blower worked fine! However, one more problem....the new fuse blew a few minutes later...not sure what that is about. I installed a second 30 amp fuse and it has been working for an hour so far.
