The prius alpha i own has this rattling noise when the steering is turned left or right. A local mechanic advised to lubricate the opening on the top of shocks, I couldn't find the Lube spray by Liquor Moli or 3M liquid Grease. I tried a spray by WD-40 Specialist Water Resistant Silicone Lubricant, but no result .
I have this Grease (attached pic).(desperate measure). Shall I apply this? And how?
I have a UK 2006 Mk2 CDX+ which I was driving last night - seemed ok, got to our driveway, turned the steering wheel fully left so I could manoeuvre the car into the driveway when I heard a loud "clunk" noise.
I thought I ran over a bottle or something so carried on reversing, when I got out I noticed the car was parked diagonally! Thought this is strange, I don't park like that and tried again, a bit better but still not parallel! I then noticed the steering wheel was hard to turn, a grinding like noise is heard when I turned so I decided I would need to take into the local in the morning.
Started the car today and drove out and got immediate sensation that steering was not connected to the wheels, the SW was off centre by miles and turning left/right was very sluggish. Lucky the garage is only down the road (but it's not Hyundai specialist) from me as I would not risk driving it down main roads in this condition. Guy at garage asked me to fully turn the SW left to right and we can see that the front of the car actually moved during the process. He is going to take it up on the lift to look underneath.
Recently I have noticed a rattling noise from the left front strut. Looking up parts online I can see the strut, as well as an upper strut mount, either of which might be the culprit.

View 16 RepliesI am experiencing a buzzing rattle coming from the left corner of the dashboard in the area near the horizontal speaker. It's not loud but it's annoying. It only happens when the car is moving. It doesnt seem to be affected by the audio system being powered on or off. The best thing I can think of to describe it the sound a Geiger counter makes, but not as loud.

So my son (19 that knows it all) and I went and changed all the brake lines (made everything one size 3/8 line.) Filled it up with break fluid and started the truck. I had my so pumping the breaks and holding them (his first time) I bled the far rear (passenger side) then I had him turn the steering wheel to the right so I could bleed the front driver side.
He turned, and turned and turned until the engine died.
Now the truck only runs when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the right or all the way to the left.
Going to pull the codes to see what the heck is going on....
My Touareg started to have a weird sensation recently. As I turn to the Left the vehicle turns Left more then my steering wheel is turned, It seems to dive in that direction. It just started do do this going Right also. I thought I saw something on this topic before but was unable to find it.

View 14 RepliesLast week my car started making a rattling noise whenever I turned it on and when I went over bumps or potholes in the road. It sounded like it was coming from the trunk latch or something. It also started squeaking- I knew it wasn't my breaks because I wasn't using my brakes when the squeaking happened. I finally realized my muffler is jiggling around, so I crawled under my car to check it out. There's a part on the left of the muffler right by the rear tire that connects the muffler to the under side of the car. It looks like something is missing- rubber or something that holds the pieces of metal there. Is this something I can find and fix myself? Or do I need to go to a mechanic? I was going to zip-tie it up, but there's not really anything to loop it through. Will my car be further damaged if I don't fix it soon? (2004 Chevy Cavalier)

Last month I went to start my Prius, when the ICE turned on all I heard was rattling.
Checked oil and not 1 drop was on the stick, add 2Q to top off.
Now every 150 miles I have to add up to a quart.
I just picked up a 2005 SC LB 4x4 5.4 v8 6mt F-350 yesterday and drove it about 250 miles home. It is my first Super Duty, and I love it so far but... the steering has some issues. There seems to be decent amount of play in the steering wheel when I'm driving straight. Also, the truck drives straight when the steering wheel is turned about 30 degrees to the left, and I would like to fix that and bring it to center. When I was cruising on the highway (65-70 mph), there was also two 20 minute periods of time spaced an hour apart where the steering would get light and the truck would dart to the left (i do not think road conditions were a factor as it did not happen on the worst stretches of highway. The truck has 133,000 miles on it, and has had pretty routines maintenance done on it, as it was owned by a drilling business as a work truck to haul tools. The guy I bought it from said that it needed the steering shock/damper replaced, so I will do that, but what else to you think I need to do to the truck?

I thought that it had to do something with my left shock absorbers but the service consultant insists it's from the dashboard. They already tried to fix it before and did not do it. What could it be.
Another thing is I have some kind of wrinkles on my dashboard especially visible when the sun hits it and looks really ugly, they told me they won't replace it unless it breakes apart,...are they supposed to replace it or no? [URL] .....
This bad squeaking, loose rattling and (sometimes) banging noise from the left rear started happening about a couple weeks ago. I've removed all interior panels, even the exterior bumper thinking there was something loose and nothing. I suspect as a last resort it has to be the suspension despite the car having only 17k km.
What is strange is the rattle increases in sound volume and occurs more often the longer you drive and also if temperatures get colder.
In other words, if I have the car parked in my garage overnight (slightly above 0 C) and immediately drive next morning into sub-freezing temps and on bumpy roads, you don't hear it. But after 5-10 minutes of driving, you start to hear it and gets louder and more frequent.
Searched other threads and some have reported the shock as the problem for 2010/2011 models, but none had any sound or video to compare.

I currently own a 2006 prius which has done about 100k km. I've been hearing knocking and rattling sounds coming from the left tire whenever I go over a rough patch of road or even a speed bump, between slow to moderate speeds. It's currently bearable, but it gets irritating at times and it seems to be getting louder. What is the cause of these noise and how I can rectify it? I wish to get rid of it.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 hyundai accent, 62000 miles. When I accelerate there is a vibrating/rattling noise that sounds like it's in the back left side. It only happens sometimes. It happens when i accelerate slowly or up a hill, and if i press on the gas it stops. I thought it was the muffler, but I got the car inspected in May and it was fine. It's been doing it since before then. My dad said it might be a loose heat shield vibrating. It seems to be getting more frequent with humid weather. Should I be worried?

I was hearing a clicking noise when I turned left. Which I thought was the CV joint, but turned out to be worn struts. Then I began hearing a roaring sound from the front end. I replaced the struts & that fixed the clicking sound but not the roaring. So I thought maybe it just needed an alignment. I took it to dealer After fixing that one they call & say right one was so loud they couldn't hear that left one was roaring too. So they say I need to replace that hub & bearing also.
Are these issues happening very prematurely? What could have caused these problems?
Chatter or noise in general from your power steering? Backing into my parking spot today I heard rather loud chatter when the wheel was hard over. Seemed to get louder when the car was in motion. Overall the power steering is rather loud and sounds like it struggles but I am not sure if that is normal on these. The chatter definitely can not be normal. Car only has 700 miles on the clock
View 1 RepliesMy 2003 Camry makes a a grinding noise when the wheel is turned even slightly left. The noise is present at any speed, and is the same volume no matter what. I'm fairly certain its coming from the driver side front wheel. I changed that CV axle in January so hopefully that's not the issue.
View 2 Replies2012 F450 Dually King Ranch 4x4 - I have read many threads on front end noise. I started hearing a noise when I turned left or right and then slowly run over a speed bump. I listen to music at an average sound and I picked up on the front end noise. For some reason you can hear it in the driver seat better.
Anyway I took the vehicle in and the mechanic said he didn't hear anything. I thought, he forget his hearing aid today? I have this expensive warranty plan that would actually cover a few items in the front end but Ford is claiming they don't hear anything.
In their defense I have figured it out why. When the temps are below 40 the noise gets louder and I think by the time they looked at it (8 hours after I brought it in, 5:00pm) the day was warmer.
