Turn the key, engine won't turn over, straight hook up starter with battery cables, starter spins engine won't turn, all lights come on on instrument panel, checked all fuses, relay, etc..solenoid won't kick gear into flywheel.

I just replaced the fuel pump and have already checked the starter, alternator, and battery and have still found nothing.

Just got a 35 on my check engine light. From the list of codes this has to do with a radiator fan control, but the fan is not electric. It's a 1994 Ram with 5.2L 318 engine. I'm confused, what does this mean?

View 3 RepliesI got this car 5 months ago for my sister and it run well until recently. The car has 117k miles on it but a couple of weeks ago she said she had problems starting it. It did start the next day (she did nothing) and had no problems for a few more days. A day later she said smoke came from the hood and it stopped. I came out a few days later and try to start it and it started on the first key turn. Saw no sign of smoke or anything that caught fire. Notice the radiator water was low so I turned it off to put water in it and it would not start back up not even with a jump. I placed the scanner on it and no codes were listed. Took the battery to get tested and it failed so I got a new one. Tried starting it again and it still will not turn over.

The car is still in it's warm up mode so the ICE is running the whole time. When I turn AC on the engine beginnings to work funny, RPMs jumping up and down, feel like engine doesn't get enough air (or gets too much). I was told to replace ignition coils. 2004 2.4L Sante Fe Base model. Car stalled out the other night, engine cranks but wont turn over. I have it towed to mechanic who tells me that the ECU is fried and they cant get any diagnostic done, that only a hyundai service can do this. I have it towed to service. Service tells me that they cant get a diagnostic done without a working ECU and that for the ECU alone. Then they could figure out what was going on with the car. The service also told me that the ECU isn't something that you can just go get at a scrapyard because it is specific to the VIN on my car. It just didn't sound right to me but I might be wrong.

View 7 RepliesMy daughter has a 2001 Ford Escape, V6, Automatic, 2WDR, 132,000 miles that is having starting problems. When you turn the key the engine will try to start. You have to push on the gas pedal to keep it running, it will not idle until it gets warmed up. If you try to drive it while cold, it has no power. Reading previous posts I have already replaced the spark plugs, intake gaskets, air filter, EGR, TPS, and fuel filter. Check for crack hoses / vacuum leaks. It is still not starting properly. No engine codes. New problem is oil light is flashing but the engine has oil. All of the gauges, lights, functioning normally. What do I try next?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2001 F150 step side 4.6L that just stopped turning over to start. The engine rocks slightly when you turn the key, then nothing but a little electrical smell. Was starting fine up to this past week. Battery is strong and good and upper battery connections clean, has original starter solenoid. I am a weekend mechanic, my son's work truck, trying to do this myself.
