I have a 2004 4 cyl. Santa Fe. The stop/tail light burnt out. Replaced it but still not working. Checked to see bulb was in correctly. Checked wires and bulb holder. Still not working. Back up and turn are working. Could it be a fuse?
View 3 RepliesThe stop lights and the tail light of my Elantra GT 2001 (automatic transmission)won't shut off, unless the fuse is removed from its place. Is this something easy to fix? I imagine it can only be some kind of switch on the break pedal/clutch.
View 5 RepliesI have a Hyundai Santa fe 2004 6cyl 2.7 L , AWD. I am having problem of slow acceleration which is worse after a stop sign or red light. Sometimes while taking turns I feels like that I will not move and I was lucky to be not hit by a Car coming from opposite direction while taking a left turn today.
The Truck’s exhaust pipe broke recently and a auto garage welded it. But I am facing the above problem immediately after the repair of exhaust pipe. If I put more pressure on gas pedal then a mal function indicator comes and today I took it to another mechanic and he gets the error code of P0303 –engine misfire and wants to charge me ~ $600 $ to replace spark plugs and wires. The malfunction indicator goes off also while I am driving and can comes back after a while or a day. With the indicator on, the car drives erratic (minor jolts ) for few meters and then its fine. Since when I am driving on highways then I can go higher speeds without any problem. Is it still misfire issue???
I have a 2006 santa fe with th 2.7. The tail lights light up both films on both sides when you turn the lights on. Now the cruise control will turn on but it won't set the speed. I changed the brake switch and i tried to put it in the same exact spot. The old one was not sticking or anything. Now I was told the switch might need reset or something. I looked everywhere for shorts and sealed them up. Checked all the fuses which all are good. So im not sure whats going on. Now when you press the brake the small fuse will burn out.
View 10 RepliesI just replaced a burnt out tail/brake lightbulb and found that I had sockets for 5 lights yet only 3 were filled....two were empty. How could this have happened and shouldnt they all be filled? I replaced the blown one but I feel like I should get 2 more per side to make it a full housing. I also am not certain what kind I need . The turn signal bulbs are fine....it's just the tail/brake light bulbs. Why were they not filled? 2002 V6 Passat.

I recently had to replace the front passenger side Drive axle. That was a piece of cake. However, since then the car has developed a shudder when it comes to stop (felt like the shudder on acceleration that was fixed by the dealer with a reflash). Suddenly it got so bad that it stalls when put into gear with the brake on. It feels like it is not coming out of converter lockup.
When I drained the fluid I replaced it with Valvoline Import multi-vehicle full synthetic (it says it is spiII). I latter added another half quart of Castrol transmax import multi-vehicle (also spIII). Did I screw up my trans? Will a flush work? Or do I just need to replace the trans and torque converter?
I noticed this past weekend that when I stopped at a stop light for a long period of time, the engine would misfire for a split second, random, just miss for a moment, then do the same after 15 or so, sometimes less. Other times, no issue.
View 1 RepliesI drive a 2004 Santa Fe GLS with the 3.5L. The car has a seldom jerk when at a stop after decelerating, and occasionally it feels like the driveline is binding when backing out of the driveway in a turn. The symptoms are consistent with TSB 04-40-003 (attached). As the TSB directs, I have acquired a 4WD Electronic Control Module (ECM) with the updated design.
The TSB suggests I can just replace the module and expect everything to work. However, I have found information that I should use GDS to reset the transmission adaptive learning. I have also seen mentions of engaging a special setting in GDS if my car has an immobilizer. Obviously, I don't have GDS. Is there anything I need to know or is it really just plug-and-play?
I have a 2004 Santa Fe (4 cyl 2.7 L FWD) with only 42,000 miles on it. Coming home from work I was stopped at a stop sign and after stepping on the gas (halfway thru the intersection) my engine stalled - coasting to a stop (while crossing a very busy intersection I might add). After putting it in park I try to restart it - the engine cranks over as usual and starts but roughly 4 to 7 seconds afterwards it stalls again. I did this 4 or 5 times again with the same results. I'm almost positive the check engine light is on. The next day I popped the hood to see if the belt broke but its fine so I tried to start it again (same results engine starts but after 4 to 7 sec. stalls again). Before this engine trouble I haven't had one ounce of trouble from my Santa Fe. Not to be funny but yes there is a half a tank of gas in it... with plenty of fluids in it. After some research I kind of think its the Crank-shaft sensor (seems to be a problem with them in the Santa Fe's).
View 14 RepliesBought a 2001 from a used car dealership about 2 months ago. A week later it started acting funny. It would often race the rpm's about 2000 when at at stop light and then others times would act like I was out of gas when I would take off. Sputtered and then finally run normally. Then other times it wouldn't start and just crank over and over. After 10-15 times it would fire up and then act like nothing was wrong. It was a total crap shoot whether it would start or not each time.
Took it back to dealership and supposedly their mechanic installed a new fuel pump. Ran like a champ for about another two weeks and then exact same symptoms started showing up.
Recently I noticed that three LEDs in my 05 SantaFe's high mount stop light glow even without the brake applied. When the brake pedal is depressed, the entire light glows as it should. But only the three LEDs glow at all times.

View 7 RepliesMy daughter has a 2003 Elantra. The left tail light works but the brake light is out. I opened the trunk and removed the two screws for the cover and found the wire going through a rubber plug. Upon removing the plug, more wires and no bulb.
How do I get to the bulb? There appear to be three screws and bolts, one on each corner, holing the tail light in place. On the fourth corner is just a rubber-looking plug. Do I have to take the assembly out to change bulbs or am I missing something?
I have burnt driver side H4 light but am not able to change it. After turning the rubber dust cover it comes loose but is stuck somewhere (in the middle) and won't come out. The power connector is disconnected.
I don't want to force it out so is there a trick for this? The metal pin is still holding the bulb in.
Is it a big operation to take the whole sealed beam (is that right word for it? The whole front light box I mean) off so I could take a better look. There is not too much space behind the fuse box.
My luggage compartment light will not come on when the tailgate is opened. The bulb works fine and the light comes on if I move the switch to the "on" position. It will not work in the "middle" position.

I washed and detailed the entire car even washed under the hood with the washer from the car wash like I have done many times before on other cars. On sunday the air bag light came on. Could have this been from me washing under the hood or is there a true problem. How do I check the air bag system and how can I reset the light.
View 6 RepliesI own a 2.7 L v6 Santa Fe, 2004 with almost 50k miles on it.
When I accelerate and hit approximately 1.9k RPM I can hear a light grinding noise underneath the car. This happens both in 2nd and 3rd gear. So as it's accelerating up I can hear it, and when the car shifts up and the RPMs drop it will make the noise again as it passes through the same RPM range.
The noise is always there at 1.9k to approx 2.1k RPMs.
Also of note is that the sound is either gone or significantly reduced after driving around for a while. I don't notice it after freeway driving, for example.
I have a problem with my 2004 Santa Fe, 2l diesel. Will try to keep this short!
When driving it suddenly 'heaves' (not sure how else to describe it), then it cuts out. I wait about a minute and then it restarts.
At first there was no 'heave' but there would be a momentary loss of power (I thought it was the clutch). Then it progressed to the 'heave' and then cut out, this happened now and then. Very quickly it started to do it every time I drove it. My neighbor mechanic blew down the fuel line, said the fuel pump in tank sounded ok, seemed to do it more when below quarter of tank.
So I kept tank topped up, it seemed ok, then on one 11 mile journey it did it 3 times, the last time the engine management light came on, crawled it home, after which it would not start at all. The computer said it was either fuel rail or coolant sensor. Neighbor replaced coolant sensor, it started ok. Tried it next day - 6 miles and it heaved and cut out again. This time no light coming on.
I've read about cam sensor, crank shaft sensor, fuel pump at back of engine...
I have a 2004 Santa Fe 2.4L the check engine light is on and says about the evap canister solenoid. I am trying to located it but I can't find it. So, where would it be located at so I can take it apart and where is the Canister located as well...
View 1 RepliesSo just like the title says I am experiencing a sort of burnt rubber or plastic type smell when at a stop. I feel like it would smell like a belt slipping but I have never had that issue on this car or the last one so I have no experience in pin pointing the smell. I have no noticeable changes to the power of the engine or the brakes from what I can tell.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2004 santa fe with a 2.7 v6. I have had a little misfire issue lately. I had a major power loss with a check engine light on it lasted for just a minute before it settled itself out. Had the code pulled at a local parts store. P0301 so I checked the plugs and they looked worn out. I pulled the upper intake and replaced the plugs and wires plus the upper intake gasket. I cleared the code and that seemed to correct the problem. Two days later, same thing happened. The engine seems to be running fine now. I wiggled the wiring harness to the injector and to the coil, no change in the way it runs. I was thinking it could be an injector or a coil pack.
