Randomly, on my way home from work yesterday, the ECS light turned on, and stayed on for about 10 miles.
I got home, turned the car on and off, even drove around for 10 more minutes, and the light never turned back on.
Now this morning, on my way to work, the light popped back on and stayed on.
I have a 2011 Santa Fe, 4 cylinder.
So today I was playing around with a Honda civic from light to light with my 2012 v6 AWD Santa fe. After lighting the tires up on the first light I decided to hit the AWD lock switch.
Second stop light was great, my suv launched and before I knew it I was doing 100km/h. Only problem is my AWD light stayed on and didn't disengage? Is this normal?... I could be wrong but I think my check engine light flashed but I'm not 100% on that.
This is regarding a 2007 santa fe.
Today I noticed my airbag warning light came on and stayed on driving to the store. At the store, I locked the doors with the remote, but when trying to set the alarm (second click of the remote) it would not arm (no lights/horn). About 30 seconds later, the alarm then sounded on its own. Had to hit "unlock" on the remote. 30 sec later, the door locks by itself (as it should) but then again, 30 sec after that, the alarm sounds.
Don't know if the airbag light and alarm issue are related. Sounds like a possible electrical issue. We're bringing it in next week anyways, but if it's something simple that I can look for, it will save my wife a trip and gas.
I have a weird situation with my sf. I start the car normally put in gear then back to park and have radio on and when shutting the car off and removing the key from the ignition. Normally everything goes out and doors unlock, But the radio, clock and dome light stayed on even with the door opened for about 10 to 15 seconds. Then it shuts off completely and unlocks the doors as usual. Did unplug the battery for 1 minute to see if the BCM could be reset and restarted with no avail it keeps acting up. The only thing that I did yesterday was to install the front left rail cover which required some fiddling with the headliner and its dome and vanity lights.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2009 Santa Fe, v6, and the check engine light and "ESC OFF" lights are on consistently.
I read the check engine light may be the gas cap so I replaced it but the light is still on. Took the car to Advanced Auto Parts and they said it was related to the cruise control.
I also read that the ESC OFF light may be due to alignment issues. I had an alignment done last Saturday but the light is still on. When they checked the check engine light they said it was related to the emissions. This was at a Firestone shop.
Any common cause for these lights to be on at 30,000 miles? I changed the transmission fluid also recently which the manual says to do at 30,000 miles.
So naturally I thought a nail had punctured a tire leading to a slow leak. When I got home I found no nail and the tire pressure on all four tires even but down to about 36psi.
I refilled to my normal of 40/38 and reset the TPMS with the button below the steering wheel. The light stayed on for a minute or two of driving then turned off and stayed off for my commute to work.
What I think probably happened is that I reduced from 42/40 to 40/38 recently without a TPMS reset. Then this morning the temperature outside was 55F and about 65F in my garage. When I left the garage at 5:20AM the TPMS light was off. I drive about 2 mile to the gym each morning and park my C for about an hour. This morning, when I got back in the car the tires had cooled to 55F and I guess that was enough to reduce the pressure far enough to trip my warning light.
I was driving today and at a traffic light a severe smell of burnt plastic filled the cabin and the A/C blower started to change speed than stayed at full blast and even if I'd turn the knob from side to side or tried to shut everything off with the ""OFF""button nothing would happen........so we drove home and at some point it shut itself off...tried it again and seems ok now.....every dealer closed today and leaving for the USA tomorrow morning.... What the problem could be?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 Toyota Tundra which I purchased new. Within days of taking ownership the tire pressure warning light came on and and stayed on. This problem has continued to this day and the Toyota dealer can't seem to fix it. I know that the sensors/transmitters are on all the tires including the spare and I check the pressure and it's always within spec. For years all they did was reset the light and told me that would fix it, but within days the light comes back on. Most recently they agreed to replace the computer which receives the signals saying that was the problem. But the second time I drove it the light came back. They claim all of the tire sensors/transmitters are fine. What might be causing this and how to fix it?
View 4 RepliesMy wife called today. After she shut off the car today (13F and 2" snow today), she "says" the car stayed on for 10-15 seconds before it went quiet. I'm assuming it was fan noise, since I don't see how the car can stay running if the key was removed. She didn't have the REST button set. What is "staying on". Haven't heard this before today.

The dealer service dept. says that the diagnostic showed no clear cause(?)but I need new spark plugs ($240),ejectors cleaned, and of course the cost of the diagnostic ($130) The total was around $475. Am I being ripped?? My big question is what will they do to get the light out?? Should I disconnect the battery and reset the clock and radio buttons to see if it goes out? Then I can worry again if it comes back on.
View 30 RepliesI just bought a 2009 Toyota Camry base. The manual shows the fuel gas turned on when the fuel is lower than 2.8 Gallon. However, after the light was on, I drove about 20 miles, then filled the tank, but only 14.5 Gallon was filled. I was confused, because the tank was 18.5 Gallon per manual, I was thinking about refill around 16.5 Gallon. And how many miles could i drive with the fuel light on? 60 miles?
View 3 RepliesI started hearing loud fan like noise today. It stayed on for a bit after the car was turned off. I usually wouldn't mind lil bit of fan noise.. but this was horrific loud.. I'm guessing I just need to replace the fan.

View 1 RepliesMy .:R will not start/ stay running. I just put my turbo back on. It ran great when I pulled the turbo off to get it rebuilt. When I first started the .:R, it fired right up and ran okay. About a minute later it shut off like I turned off the key. I went to restart and all I got was cracking but no start. I checked everything over and tried again. It started but shut off about 30 seconds later. After that I couldn't get it to start just cracking. I gave up for a few hour to gather my thoughts. I went back and no start again.
So I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and tried again. It started but shut right off after a minute and wouldn't restart. So I disconnected the battery and tried again. It started again, so I revved the motor to about 3500 rpm and let it sit there and about a minute it shut off like I turned off the key. NOTE: All the dash light stayed on like the key is on but the engine acts like the key was turned off. The ECS light stays on the when the engine is running or not.
So i had been up in the woods for better half of the day. I had been in 4wd a few times, didn't thrash on anything and while driving home about 30mins into the return trip on the pavement i noticed my speedo only showing 10mph. I know i was easily going 50mph. I changed my SGII gauge to show MPH and sure enough i was going way faster. Eventually the needled dropped to zero and stayed that way for at least 5 miles. Then I came to a stop to and made a right turn giving it a bit of throttle and the speedo began to work correctly and did so for the remaining 5 miles. the Odom also during that time wasn't adding mileage. could this be from the rear sensor ontop of the rear diff?
View 6 RepliesLast night we went to look at some Christmas lights in a drive through park. There was a sign in the beginning of the park that said "Headlights off please." This seems to be impossible on the Touareg. I turned the headlight switch to off but the daytime running lights stayed on. After calling my salesman at VW, he asked many service techs how to do this and they have never been approached with such a question. They were stumped. The salesman told me that I can shut the daytime running lights off by depressing the emergency brake but that doesn't even work. The lights still remain on. Is there a way to shut the headlights off?
View 24 RepliesI just bought a 2010 Santa Fe with 52,000 miles. The car looks great and runs fine once warmed up. Problem came after I got it home. I have found that it shifts rough when first started for about 5 miles. After that it runs great. From a quick search I have found 2 TSB's that may apply, 10-AT-006 and 11-AT-011-2.
View 36 RepliesI recently purchased a 2012 used Santa Fe. I've only had it about 2 weeks and just noticed something the other day. When I shut the vehicle off and exit, I hear a very low ticking noise coming from behind the front grill vents. It lasts for about 15 seconds and slows down until it stops completely.
I'll be the first to tell you that I know absolutely NOTHING when I comes to cars (other than how to drive one ). My guess would be that it sounds like some type of fan coming to a stop. If this is the case, I'm wondering if one of the blades could be bent, and how potentially serious of an issue this might be? Other than that, it drives great, with no other notable noises while in motion.
Light came on, most likely due to colder weather. Jacked all tires up to 35psi. Now shows 2 tires low pressure. Why? What is the exact pressure to be at? Says in the car there at 29psi ....
View 8 RepliesNew to Hyundai, bought a 08 Santa Fe Ltd AWD. My first of three daughters just got her license and I decided to part ways with my BMW 530 for something more practical. That was a difficult day. So far, I'm really happy with the Fe and my daughter loves it, too.
Question: After driving, while car is parked in driveway, water will drip from underneath car for like an hour after the car has been turned off. I have collected some of it in a pan and it is crystal clear water, not any type of fluid. Now, this seems to be completely normal drip you'd seem from any car that has its AC on in the summer but this happens when the AC is NOT being used and temp is still in the 40s - 50s. The drip is located approx under the front passenger floor board. I suppose its good that whatever it is, it is draining away and not collecting and causing corrosion but just thought I'd ask the forum. Is this normal? Any other Fe owners notice this drip?
