I did a search on all three of these and did not find anything.
1) Odd noise coming from steering column while turning.
2) Vanity mirror on driver's side, the lid/flap thingy does not stay open.
3) Trunk only opens when using key. Using FOB of door button does not work. You can hear movement but it does not open.
I ask this because when on the hwy (60-70mph) you can feel some vibration in your hands. I can let the steering wheel go and it won't move a bit but when hands placed on it you can definitely feel the road, including bumps, and regardless of road conditions. Tires where balanced at 7500mi but it still happens. Regardless of temperature or PSI in the tire.
I thought we had electric/electronic steering and no hydraulics? Maybe unrelated but, when turning in my driveway, very slow, I can hear a slight clicking (maybe rubbing) noise coming from the steering wheel column. Everything else has to be silent to be able to hear it.
I have a rubbing sound that seems to be coming from the steering column when turning. Don't hear it outside of cab just in the inside.

View 1 RepliesI have Sonata 06 3.3L V6, vacuum getting confirmed code p0171 system too lean bank 1,and pending faults are both lean and rich on both banks and also at idle. i check vacuum leaks but no luck, one thing I observed when I drove car at high speed only 3000 rpm or above LTFT 1 corrected to 0. I am using torque app.
I can not open my trunk through remote key, it is opening with driver side switch, trunk lid latch is unlocked position, remote key is working fine with doors.?
When going down the road I notice a rattle noise coming from the steering column area. I took it to the dealer a week or so after noticing it. I purchased the car brand new and like I said I took it to the dealer a week after purchasing it and they said they could not find anything and said they zip tied the brake lines or some bs hoping that would solve my problem.
It is now kind of obvious and I am going to take it back in to another dealership that has a better reputation.

This started today, when I turn off the ignition and remove the key the radio stays on and the steering column does not lock. The guy at the dealership suggested spraying wd 40 into the ignition. No go.

I've got an 06 Nissan Frontier and whenever the weather is cold (40s and under) I hear a clinking noise that appears to be coming from the steering column or the dashboard. It usually gets better after I drive it awhile. It doesn't seem to be affecting my truck, but it does have me curious. What this may be.

The dealership says the intermediate steering shaft, which will cost over $500, but that it can wait - I can drive it safely for awhile. First, what the heck is "awhile"? View 2 RepliesI just got a 2013 Corolla Saturday (manual transmission). So far, I love the car, but I think I'm having a problem with the steering column. When I turn the steering wheel in a parked position, I can hear an audible "rubbing" noise coming from the column. I called the dealership, and spoke not only to the service department, but also to my salesman, who has one too. He says he's never heard that, and the service department assures me it's normal and is because it's an electric motor now instead of a fluid power steering system.
So, do I have reason to be concerned? Experienced this after only 300 or so miles on a new car? We traded a Scion IQ for this Corolla (didn't like the CVT whine in the IQ), and never heard anything like this.
I bought a one-owner, 50,000 mile Buick Lucerne in February. Yesterday I heard a squeaking noise from the steering wheel/column and it is there today. Does this mean I need to lubricate or replace the lower seal on the steering shaft?
View 2 RepliesSo my 2013 is making a strange noise that seems to be coming from the front end when turning and going over a bump. While riding with the Service Writer, we also felt that the noise could be coming from the rear of the truck. I think it's two seperate issues, he mentioned something about the rear end noise being "body shift". So two questions:
1. What a "clunking noise" would be coming from around the steering column.
2. What the heck is "body shift"?
So I already changed the Driver Side upper Control arm. But there is still squeaky noises coming from the trunk area, esp at low speeds going over small hills and small pot holes. I saw this is common on our cars and wanted to know which parts were to be replaced. At 110k, is it worth repairing piece by piece or should I do the shocks, ball joints and such at once.
View 1 RepliesRecently, my wife starting hearing scratching around in the steering column when turning. It sounded like wires being twisted around. Eventually, several things stopped working:
1) the horn,
2) the cruise control, and
3) the airbag (the light came on).
It seems safe to assume that the wire/scratching sound is connected. My question is whether it is possible for me, a layman, to open the steering column to attempt to repair it myself...?
Just on my way home during the last few turns down the underground parking, I found the steering wheel column making some squeak noise. Is there anything I should check before bringing it back to the dealership?
View 6 RepliesI have a squeak that developed in the steering column whenever I turn the wheel. It is as if something lacks lubrication. It does it in all steering positions. I guess next step is to open it up and see if I can get closer to the source so I can hit it with WD40.

View 3 RepliesAbout month ago, my cabin lights stopped coming on when I open the door. I can turn the lights on, so it is not bulbs. It's a pain to come home at night and not have the lights come on for a few minutes as I get out of the car.
