I keep having to replace my passenger rear running light and brake light. I have replaced each bulb once. Is it a short somewhere? Could it be my headlight switch?

I have switched out all the bulbs for led and can't find how to get to the reverse lights bang head.
I'm having some sort of electrical malfunction on the back of my Mk4 Gti. The right rear tail light, license plate light and back windshield wiper doesn't work. I replaced the bulbs several times and they keep blowing.

Recently I've noticed that I've had to replace my passenger side one twice in the last 3 months and my driver side one twice in two months. It doesn't seem to matter if I use GE or Sylvania bulbs so I'm guessing it's the cars fault.
View 24 RepliesBoth left and right tail lights don't work but brake lights and reverse work fine. Fuses look good and bulbs are fine. Could it be related to the 'circuit board' type housing that the bulbs are in? If it is, are they in series meaning if one goes bad the other side won't work either?
View 1 RepliesSo I've been using the rear window spray a lot since it's been snowing and the salty water/snow/air has covered the rear window a lot and I've been notice water dripping into the rear when I open the hatch but previously thought it was just some snow that melted in/around the hatch area and was dripping. Today I noticed both tail lights that are on the hatch have condensation in them. When I popped the plastic covering on the hatch that you use to replace the bulbs, I noticed there was the blue spray fluid. So I removed the two tail light and I can't seem to figure out how to get the bit of water out of the white and red parts. Do the lens come off any way? I now realize the leaky rear spray thing is a common issue and just ordered the two stupid 50 cent pieces that costs 31 with shipping from ECS
View 2 RepliesMy mk4 the right rear tail light isn't working. So what I swapped the light board from the left side and the issue followed. What can I check to get it going again? The rest of the lights on that panel are working.

my right rear tail light is not working. I tested the tray on the left side and the brake light works, so the problem must be from the right connector or right wiring back somewhere.
any tips on how to find the problem from here?
I have water in my Jetta's tail lights and its really annoying. I just had them both out on the weekend and checked out the foam gaskets and they were both fine but i replaced them with an older pair I had that looked in even better shape but basically the same condition...
Rained pretty hard last night and now there is like more water in them then before... I made sure I tightened them down good because they were not that tight when I originally took them off.
There is water condensation in my spare tire well and making my carpet wet and starting to fog up my rear windows..
The tail light that is spliced into for the RVC flickers when the car is in reverse. I am thinking it is due to a voltage drop because of the camera pulling power.

I just installed the lights and found that only the outside left light worked with the brake depressed, the outside left inside left and inside right worked with the light switch in the on position. Also both blinkers work.
I switched my byte 18 to 04 already and am not (as of now) using my euro light switch (I didn't think this would be it but I'm at a complete loss) ...
The alignment machine says passenger rear toe is out 1.1 degree.... Tire is worn to a slant, axle bushings are fresh.
View 8 RepliesThe rear tail lights on my truck have been out for a while now. I wasn't doing much driving at night so it wasn't much of a bother but the new job is getting me home a little later and having to drive with my hazards on is getting old fast.
My radio wasn't working either and I disconnected it a while back hoping maybe it had something to do with my lights shorting out but no luck. It remains disconnected. Just in the past few days my front running lights have went out as well.
I've tested all fuses multiple times (and replaced a couple of them) and checked and replaced bulbs. My brake lights, headlights, dash lights and hazards all work fine. I have the trailer light hook up on the rear bumper and disconnected it at the wiring harness as well hoping it was the problem but it wasn't.
So I have an 03 wolfsburg, when my car is on and I open either the front driver or front passenger door the lights on the interior don't come on. Is this normal? I could have sworn they did before and on my 01 1.8t GLS, but if I open the any of the rear doors the lights come on...
I just got an LED interior kit, but haven't got it in the mail yet, so it is still on the stock bulbs from the factory, is it a dual filament bulb that just needs replacing?
Upon putting on my winter wheel i was checking if the bolts were too long and my rear passenger side wheel wasn't spinning. I took the wheel off and checked the rotor and it took a lot of force to spin because the caliper didn't go back. I took the brake fluid line out hoping it would decompress the caliper and it did not, and brake fluid leaked out a tiny bit. This leads me to believe that my caliper is bad. Just want to make sure before I order another one

View 4 RepliesMy MK4 golf has the rear passenger door shut, cannot be opened from inside or out. The outside handle has no tension, just floppy.
I managed to take the card off, even though I cannot open the door.
So my issue is if I keep dismantling til I get to the door lock, is there any simple way to open the door ? I've seen lots where people can change the lock if the door opens but can it be opened if the door is closed or do I somehow have to smash the lock ?
I installed a trailer wiring kit for my Tiguan (etrailer.com). All was working fine until a few months ago. I am now having issues with my passenger rear tail light (does not come on for brakes / turn signal / hazard). The running light works.
At the present time the trailer wiring kit is disconnected. When I went to check this out it seems that some water had got in the seal on the light and there was some corrosion on the plug/connector. Initially I thought that was the issue, but it does not seem to be.
The light bulbs / connectors work fine (tested on opposite side). I checked the fuses and can't find an issue. Power is getting to the light but the the voltage on the rear tail light is very low (0.1-0.5V) compared to 8-10V on for the drivers side. I'm wondering if this is a bad relay or some corrosion somewhere else?
- What fuse(s) are for the tail lights?
- Is there a flasher relay that I may need to replace?
