Arteries And Veins Phobia

May 6, 2014

I've started having this phobia in year 7. The teacher was talking about veins and arteries and I suddenly felt faint so I had to go out of the class then I collapsed on the floor. And all my friends thinks it's completely abnormal and they tease me about it!

And also the other day, everyone had jabs but I didn't have them and after my friends had theirs done they were all talking about it with other girls in my year in front of me. I was queuing to get food but suddenly my appetite just went and I felt light headed and I really needed to sit down! I also wanted to go outside because the hall felt really airless and warm! So one of my friends kindly took to go outside but while I was still in the hall I just collapsed in the middle of the room! So i was beginning to wonder has this phobia gone too far with me? I just cry when I hear about veins and arteries or feel light headed!

Vascular Disorders :: 2 Black Veins/arteries Showing Under The Skin Of My Right Arm

I'm a 22yo female. 3 hours ago, I accidentally noticed 2 black veins/arteries showing under the skin of my right arm and 1 on my left arm. There was also a dark area near my right wrist. Then the black veins/arteries disappeared and more dark areas appeared. Also, one very dark bluish purple bruise appeared on my left thigh. It looks like a bruise you get after a physical trauma. It hurts very little when you press it. Other than that, I feel absolutely nothing weird.

I'm anemic and have been since I was a kid. My chest is tight most of the time. I'm not taking any meds regularly. But around 18 hours ago, I took a Brufen 400mg for a nasty headache I had. It's still there, btw.

It's 4 in the morning here so I can't go to a doctor right now. If you can give me an idea what it could be or even what kind of doctor to go to in the morning, I would appreciate it.

Phobia With Dentist

I have not been to the dentist in many years because of a low tolerance to pain and my fear of dentists. Now it's been so long I am ashamed & embarrassed to go yet I know I must. As for now I have periodontal (gum) disease and for past 8 months I have had 3 teeth just fall out. I am Mortified how I look. I do not have any dental insurance. I just cannot bring myself to go to the dentist. I'm the biggest procrastinator. Any advice?

Phobia :: Cancer Causes Depression

I am 47 and had been battling the health anxiety since 20 years. I have hypertension, hyperlipidemia & mitral valve prolapse with trivial regurgitation (which causes anxiety & palpitation). All these years my focus was mainly on heart, but since one month i has become very cancer phobic, as i remember one of aunt who died of cancer before 15 years..

I asked whether anxiety can cause cancer, so one allexperts counselor replied me that, anxiety & depression does not cause cancer, but cancer can cause depression. I don't know under what context she said that, which made my life like a living hell.

I know that, anxiety & depression does not cause cancer.

But Now i am fearing & obsessing that, depression is the symptoms of cancer.

What i know is that, upon being diagnosed with cancer, the patients become depressed, anxious & sad.

I have seen the people having depression for 30+ years & living with it & they don't have cancer.

Half of the world has depression, if depression would be the symptom & then half of the world would have cancer.

If somebody is depressed, when he will go to psychiatrist for treatment, will the psychiatrist will tell him to go & test for cancer.

This obsession had made me more fearful & i am having full blown continuous panic attacks since 2 weeks. The anxiety is 10 out of 10 since i read that answer. I unable to function & get up from the bed. I am not going to work since one week & unable to sleep since one week only obsessing that, cancer causes depression & it is becoming vicious cycle.

All these years i know that, panic & anxiety symptoms are harmless & i never bothered about these symptoms, only afraid for the first few years when i was not aware.

Due to continue ongoing challenges of health anxiety & mitral valve prolapse i have anxiety & palpitation. Now, every time when i feel anxious or depressed, i am thinking it is due to cancer.

Anxiety :: Phobia Of Chemicals

I have recently read about harmful chemicals and azo dyes used in some clothes. Last week I bought a pair of blue jeans and they dyed my hands, handbag and other T- shirts blue. I know that wearing such a jeans can be dangerous after prolonged direct contact. The problem is that I am even afraid of touching these jeans or the handbag and then I am afraid of touching food, my face, etc. I know that this fear is irrational.

Depression :: Phobia Of Work?

I am 25 years old and feel like my life is completely screwed.

I have suffered from major anxiety and depression since I was very young (before elementary school) and have fought it ever since.

School was a horrible experience from me, my anxiety would cause horrible stomach issues so I was sick all the time, then that progressed into the fear of getting sick. Panic attacks were the norm and still are many days.

I think I have a phobia of work and I cannot figure it out or get past it. I had my first job when I was sixteen and loved it, I had to quit due to school but then got another job after I graduated high school and worked there for about a year. As time went by I grew extremely bored and almost aggravated at the job. I started feeling sick again and started to always look for ways to miss days.

Another job came and same thing happened.

Then I found a part time job I enjoyed as it fit my one and only true passion, I worked there for six years on and off, last year I decided to bust my butt to impress the higher ups to possibly ensure more work, only to have days cut and treated in my opinion like anyone else. I was mad and once again started the calling out, getting sick, etc. I was also put on Prozac which was HORRIBLE.

I had a very hard time the past five years or so finding a real full time job. Nobody would hire me. I applied everywhere and only had one interview, I even had a background check ran for myself to make sure nothing was on it.

A few months ago I was hired to work for a company from home. It was a fantastic opportunity because it got rid of my getting sick at work fear, paid well, and had potential to move up. I got married, life was good, my future was bright.

I ended up losing the job because I couldn't figure half of it out. It wasn't even hard, it was just customer service type stuff. This murdered me in the head and now I can't stop thinking what I lost.

I have ZERO motivation to try looking again because I know how hard it is and don't trust myself. I hate almost everything, I have one passion and I consider it my only opportunity in life to go anywhere but it cannot be done without money. So I'm in such a bind I can't figure out what to do.

I sincerely feel like my whole life I've had a phobia to work, I may like a job for a few weeks, then hate it, one week may try to miss the whole week, it's almost like more of a phobia to commit to doing anything. Whether it's fear of how I will feel, failure, I have no idea.

I am not on any medicine now, it made things worst. I'm just completely lost in life and quickly falling. Has anyone else dealt with similar issues? How did you overcome them or did you?

Women :: Menstruation Phobia And Sex?

During the last six months I've been dating this wonderful new man. We are 25 and 26 and everything is perfect. He is also extremely attracted to me and in bed he is very open-minded, maybe even more so than me. Yet, that is, only if anything that has to do with menstruation is far, far away.

I have to admit, all my ex-boyfriends were 100% okay with my period and the contrast is insane, which might make me less understanding than other girls. Yet, in this case, it just gets weird sometimes to that extent it often makes me feel ashamed of my body and I start doing weird things such as inserting more stop weeks than I used to (I am on birth control) because I am extremely afraid of unexpected small breakthrough bleedings.

It has come to a point now that, around my period, we don't have satisfying sex for about ten or more days. My boyfriend does not touch me during the first days I have stopped taking my birth control, although my period is not there yet, and today, the first day after my period, he could not even get it up because he was not sure whether it was really over... But it goes further, he often acts weird when he sees my (unused) tampons, or he does not really want me to talk about my female problems, except for once, when he criticized me for not changing my tampons often enough. Of course he is very understanding when I'm in pain, he is very sweet by heart .

My boyfriend himself says it is 'natural' for men to be grossed out by periods. I try to be understanding about this and accept this opinion, although it's hard. Yet, sometimes, he spontaneously says during my period he does want to have sex but only when it's almost over or only if I'm on top because then he can 'focus more on me as a person'. I find it great he tries to do this, but since I can tell he sometimes is a bit grossed out or not very excited it makes me even more ashamed.

I don't think there is a real precedent since his ex-girlfriend was anorectic, and therefore barely had periods. She also did not have a high libido at all, according to my boyfriend. I also have to add his reactions do not suit his personality at all since he is very relaxed, untidy and generally not afraid of dirt at all.

Is there a way to break through this problem so that we are both happy in this situation?

Anxiety :: Phobia Of Having A Heart Attack

For about the last 8 months or so I have developed a phobia of having a heart attack. I have heard of and know some people who have had them and one was a close cousin of mine who was only 41 years old when she died from it. She also had other medical problems also. Just the other day I had my annual check up with my primary doctor and found out I suffer from high cholesterol. This is new for me so of course now I'm really scared. I have already changed my diet to lower it but still the thought of a heart attack won't leave my mind. Always afraid that any minute I may have one.

Dental / Dentist Visits Phobia

I'm really struggling right now with dental problems. It seems like it's one thing after another with my teeth.

I have a really severe dental phobia. I've had it for years, but it's gotten worse over time. Every visit to the dentist makes my fear and phobia worse. I've gotten to the point that even having tooth pain or thinking about a dental appointment will make me feel physically ill.

I've had a lot of dental work done in my life. Most recently had to get a root canal on a molar that was really hurting me. To make matters worse, it took my dentist and the endodontist 8 months, to figure out what was going on to treat me properly. I went back to both of them repeatedly and they couldn't find anything wrong until a couple of weeks ago. I finally got the root canal done, but this whole situation has made my phobia worse.

I'm also dealing with adult braces and TMJ problems. Any dental work is very difficult for me due to the anxiety, fear and TMJ pain. I'm also getting increasingly harder to numb for dental work.

I finally convinced myself to try a sedation dentist. I'm really shaken in the faith of my current dentist and doubt that I'll go back to him. This new sedation dentist offers Nitrous Oxide. I have mixed feelings about it, but it sounds like the best way to help me with this problem at present.

I know I have a bunch of dental work that needs to be done, so the nitrous oxide seems like it'll help with my anxiety and phobia during the appointments and work.

This whole thing has gotten really bad now. I don't even want to go to a dentist ever again, but I know I need the work done.

Any advice or comments regarding dental phobia/anxiety and nitrous oxide would be great.

Doctor Phobia - Afraid Of Going To The Physician

Is anybody else afraid of going to the doctor?  Adding up my medical visits in 2016, I've had eleven appointments, including testing and lab work, plus my surgery last month.  Today, I have to see my GI Doctor and will have a colonoscopy at the end of June.  There will not have been a single month in the first six months of this year that I haven't seen a doctor.  I feel overwhelmed by it.  I always expect the worst now, having gone through so much in a short period of time.  I have started exercising again and am working gradually on getting in better shape and wish that would help the anxiety some.  I dread seeing doctors now.

Anxiety :: Cancer Phobia Making Me Insane

So I've been on here a lot in the past month. Worried about a lymph node- which has since gone away and it wasn't even a lymph node it was a pimple that ended up being really deep under the skin and went away on its own. Then worried about my stomach and intestines again. I have this gnawing rolling growling but it can't feeling and it feels like there's air in there and I can't get it out but my brain is like no it's probably a tumor. And I've been worried about bowel cancer. I keep checking my movements to see if there's blood in them and I'm like overly looking like is that blood or does that look kinda red or is it okay? Like its bad. I'm 24. No history of bowel cancer or anything in the family. My grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 70 and she beat it and is fine now. I had a full physical and blood test with fasting two and a half months ago. I can't keep going to the doctor but I'm going insane. People are saying if I keep worrying about it it'll happen and it's scaring me.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder :: HIV Anxiety / Phobia

I don't know if I am alone in this fear but for quite some years, I have been transfixed on the idea that I have HIV. There are good periods but then there are times when it utterly consumes me.

I have had unprotected encounters (or should I say encounter) some years ago and that is what triggered my anxiety over the disease. During this time, I have had two full STDs tests including HIV and they both have come back negative and each were when I was out of the window period.

I guess my question is, is there a chance that I could still have HIV? Perhaps the tests were done wrong both times and I got a false-negative test back each time. Do I need to go and have another test just to confirm that I do not have the disease?
