I want to know if running or anything like it increases height. If so, how fast and how long should I be running, also how much? I am 16 and 5'6. I weigh 150lbs and I want to grow taller.

Fitness :: Burning Pain In Side Of Neck While Running Or Working Out

I have begun to run over the last three years and really enjoy it. Starting last year I have begun to get a burning pain in the side of my neck while running and sometimes during strenuous workouts. It seems to be in the area of the carotid artery. It is usually on the left side but I have experienced it on the right. Could it be a form of heartburn or should I get it checked out. I'm only 35 and have been quite active but don't always eat the best.

Upper Back Pain After Lifting Heavy Weight

I am a 21 years old girl.I am having a pain in the left upper back, under the left armpit and in the left chest for the last two weeks since I did some heavy lifting during shifting.The pain can be felt when I am stretching. The pain doesn't go with painkillers. I did some searching on the Net and found out that back pain is a symptom of lung cancer. Is it possible? Hernia Pain After Lifting

I had a hernia repaired in the groin 7 years ago and suffered no pain since.  However a month ago i lifted a small weight at work and felt a small pull at the repair site. Since this i have had a sharp burning sensation just off the repair scar and my left testicle constantly aches. I have been to a and e and my Gp they say no hernia, had an ultrasound and they say no problem.  I'm ok if lying still but if i move, walk, lift or anything remotely strenuous i get the pain.

I am a 34 year old male, no illnesses, suffering from hip pain for a while. The pain is on the outside of the hip in-line with the groin area, it doesn't hurt to walk but lifting and moving the leg when sitting/laying causes pain, as does doing butterfly stretches and bending the knee inwards/outwards. When it's particularly painful my whole leg will ache right down to the ankle.

Tension Headache - Workout And Lifting Weights

Been going to the gym and everything was ok for first few weeks but lately when I workout lifting weights when I push myself to do a rep the back of my neck at head just gets tighter and tighter like it's gonna explode and then soon after would bring on panic attacks stomach discomfort and feel anxious for the rest of the day . Calf Muscle Tightness After Running

I've just recently started running. At first it went fine, and I began to gradually increase my endurance and speed, really happy, etc. etc, until recently, I've been struck down by a mysterious malady.

While I run, my calves tighten up, and it becomes nearly impossible to finish the run. It's not plantar fasciitis or achilles tendonitis (no swelling, for one thing), but I can't consult a real doctor because I'm living in Japan and have no insurance and a very limited command of the language.

I did purchase new and good shoes, but no dice. I've consulted numerous of my track-involved friends, who offered various bits of contradictory advice. One person advised about 20 minutes of stretching before and after a run. Another said to not stretch before running, and stretch each calf for 3 sets of 30 seconds each. Those are the two extremes, and most suggestions fall somewhere in the middle. I make a point of doing a couple minutes of stretching (basic calf and thigh stretches), but nothing extensive, and I'm not sure what alterations I should make to my routine. I also took some time off, and just walked for my exercise, but when I started running again the problem returned.

Please help, any assistance would be appreciated. I'm just starting to get into running and just starting to get into shape, and I'm afraid that if this affliction keeps on going I will lose the motivation I've managed to fire up.

I fell off my bike a couple of weeks ago and landed on my hand it got swollen for a couple of days then went down however i'm still getting pain when i try and put pressure on it ie lifting or holding things in the middle of my hand about 2cms above my knuckle little finger and the one next too i can still move my fingers and my hand isn't bruised just a slight bit swollen near the wrist what should i do?

Running Beginners :: Stomach Cramps During A Race?

i get them every race i've ever ran, some worse than others the past few races i've ran my stomach cramps really hindered my racing ability. It normally occurs within the first mile of a 5k and gets worse as the race goes on no matter what i do to my breathing pattern (it usually just switches to another spot on my stomach if i get rid of it). I cant breathe in fully so im definitely not getting enough oxygen. The location of the stomach cramp varies all over my stomach. Is it because i have weak stomach muscles. Plus, now i think i pulled a stomach muscle because with an enormous cramp i pushed my finishing kick to beat another kid in the race and now it's slightly sore.

Running With Injuries :: How To Deal With Shin Pain?

I actually began running about 2 months ago, starting with a run 2 minutes, walk 4 and trying to gradually build from there (I m a college student, and had been walking quite a lot, around 4 miles, to and from class each day prior to beginning running). Problem is, my shins have been giving me a LOT of problems. I'm not sure what to do and am becoming quite frustrated...I've tried new shoes (currently in nike prestos, I love the shoes, they are the most comfortable things I have ever worn in my life!), gradually building up my runs, stretching, taking rest periods when they start to hurt...and as a result have not been able to increase mileage at all!

Should I run through the pain? I am guessing these are just shin it okay to run through these, do they go away? Is there anything else I can do? If anyone has any advice at all, I would really appreciate it. It is driving me nuts not to be able to run! I am trying to "rest" for the past month and a half have only been running about 2 days a week, with each run only about 15 minutes long.

Orthopedics :: Shoulder Pain, Work Is A Lot Of Lifting With Upper Body

I am 22 year old male. My question is why does my left shoulder and right should hurt. The right one is the worse. It pains from the top of the shoulder, down around to the back of the elbow. It's been happening for around two months and hope I don't need surgery. I've been bmx riding for over ten years. I've never badly hurt my shoulders before so it can't be a old injury aggravated. But I work delivering gas bottles that requires a lot of lifting with upper body strength. I've been doing that for nearly three years but I've never had previous problems during this job. So I hope I can get help, as it affects my work to a point but not serious yet. I can't ride properly anymore, and I need to sleep on my back.
