I fell off my bike a couple of weeks ago and landed on my hand it got swollen for a couple of days then went down however i'm still getting pain when i try and put pressure on it ie lifting or holding things in the middle of my hand about 2cms above my knuckle little finger and the one next too i can still move my fingers and my hand isn't bruised just a slight bit swollen near the wrist what should i do?

The pain is on the outside of the hip in-line with the groin area, it doesn't hurt to walk but lifting and moving the leg when sitting/laying causes pain, as does doing butterfly stretches and bending the knee inwards/outwards. When it's particularly painful my whole leg will ache right down to the ankle.

View 1 RepliesI am 22 year old male. My question is why does my left shoulder and right should hurt. The right one is the worse. It pains from the top of the shoulder, down around to the back of the elbow. It's been happening for around two months and hope I don't need surgery. I've been bmx riding for over ten years. I've never badly hurt my shoulders before so it can't be a old injury aggravated. But I work delivering gas bottles that requires a lot of lifting with upper body strength. I've been doing that for nearly three years but I've never had previous problems during this job. So I hope I can get help, as it affects my work to a point but not serious yet. I can't ride properly anymore, and I need to sleep on my back.

View 1 RepliesI had a hernia repaired in the groin 7 years ago and suffered no pain since. However a month ago i lifted a small weight at work and felt a small pull at the repair site. Since this i have had a sharp burning sensation just off the repair scar and my left testicle constantly aches. I have been to a and e and my Gp they say no hernia, had an ultrasound and they say no problem. I'm ok if lying still but if i move, walk, lift or anything remotely strenuous i get the pain.
View 1 RepliesToday morning I waked up after sleeping about 9 hours (without going to the bathroom and after drinking a lot before the sleep). After going to the bathroom I felt pretty acute pain in my lower abdominal. It became milder during the day, still preserving though and appearing sometimes with more strength while changing position (sitting, or standing) and also reminding about itself sometimes after urinating (but not always). It kind of feels like muscle pain and earlier could be felt also while touching the muscles close to the penis. Now it is way milder, but didn't go. Can this be a result of muscle stretch or something like this?

The pain doesn't go with painkillers. I did some searching on the Net and found out that back pain is a symptom of lung cancer. Is it possible? i am suffering from spinal stenosis, and will undergo surgery in a few weeks.
can it be radicular pain caused by the spinal stenosis? if so, is there a physical test to help verify that?

I fell over and broke my left humerus 5 weeks ago yesterday. Initial visit to A&E which resulted in X-rays and put in a collar and cuff for the first 4 days.
I then visited Orthopedics and more X-rays taken and put into a Brace.
I was in the brace until week 4, when it was replaced by a plaster U slab as the brace was causing my arm and hand to be considerably swollen. My U slab had to be changed twice due to it moving constantly in this time and in my opinion not isolating the break.
I had an appointment yesterday at Orthopedics where it was replaced yet again, and told my next appointment is on the 18th of December.
My concerns,
Various different stories told as to healing times.
I am 5 weeks since the break, when will they decide if it needs operating.
I am taking serious pain relief which is barely touching it, and causing sickness.
Its seems like i am being a nuisance asking questions or going back to the hospital, am i being paranoid.
I have managed to take pictures of the X-rays every time they have been taken and week 5 looks the same as day 1.
I know Orthopedic Surgeons undergo the same training. I have a problem that my Surgeon is a lower limb specialist. I have asked to see the Surgeon who specialises in my the area of my break, but only to be told that they are all the same.
December 2013 had a tkr on my right knee, and the day I cam home from the hospital, I complained on I couldn't lay on my right side. After 2 year of cortisone shots, physical therapy and x rays, doctor took an MRI and told me that I have a bone spur and a torn hip lining. Had surgery for that, and I am still in pain now from both the groin area and the hip. Now I am being told that I need a new hip. Not sure that I want to go through that.
View 1 RepliesI recently broke my left ring finger, 4 months ago, now slightly below my index finger is a small lump that looks like it is my tendons. This lumps starts a raised line in the center of my hand, proceeds up by my index finger as well as slightly splitting off towards my middle finger. I also have light pain in my hand, especially after I do something with it. Also my finger still feels very strange to move and bring down to my palm. It also is sometimes slightly stiff. The line/lump is what I would describe to be my bone or tendons.
View 1 RepliesI've been having pain in my right wrist and hand for over 6 months now. It mostly feels like a dull ache/pain and often tenderness which is on the little finger side (ulnar side) of my hand which comes and goes. Recently (within the last month or 2) the pain has spread up to my little finger knuckle joint which also feels tender when the pain flares up, the ache sometimes extends into my forearm as well still on that one side. I've had routine hand x rays (AP, lateral, oblique) which was said to be normal and also an ultrasound of median nerve and flexor tendons which was normal (will upload x ray image on here). In the past I have fallen off the skateboard a few times, the worst fall caused me to have stabbing pains in my right wrist when it happened and for a few days it hurt to do anything with it, it never swelled, and it settled to a mild pain, I had problems for a few months after that, I couldn't do the pushup position without that wrist hurting a fair bit, and it still is sore when I try now but not as bad, that fall would've been over a year ago though.
When I went to a new Dr about it they did this test which pulled my arm back and stretched my ulnar nerve and I nearly jumped out of my skin, I had severe pain shoot down my arm and into my hand and fingers, so he has ordered me a nerve conduction test because he thinks it might be something to do with the ulnar nerve because of the area of pain and that positive ulnar stretch test. This confuses me because I don't have typical nerve pain or symptoms ( like tingling, numbness or electric shock like pain). My hand just feels achy, sore and tender. I feel like it is most tender when I press around the hamate bone area on the palm and also on the top of the hand where the base of the 4th and 5th metacarpal/hamate bone is, but nothing showed on the x ray so this confuses me. One thing I did notice though was a little black triangular shaped thing near the base and right side of my 5th metacarpal bone on the x ray, now i've only studied a tiny bit of radiography and I know nothing about the hand, but that doesn't look normal to me?
I am 4 months post op after having a standard USO. Doc removed 4 mm of bone and plated on the outside. The good news is the pain I had become so used to as a result of UIS has subsided but as I recover, i note new aches and pains which I don't like. Since the day after the op i have had quite agonising pain in my elbow. At no point did I have any above elbow immobilisation. All short arm casts for about 7 weeks in all. The pain has improved but still there and worsens when I straighten my arm - leaving me in a constant state of holding my elbow at 90.
Has anyone else had this after USO? If not - did you have above elbow casts/splints? If so, what was it like and did it subside???
The other problem I am having is when i try to pronate my arm (to get my palm facing down). It feels like as the ulna and radius cross with the twist, the screw(s) which protrude through the ulna, seems to be catching on the radius. it is very sore and most of the time stops me pronating.
If you have experienced anything like this please let me know whether it got better. i am already getting worried that the op has caused some kind of issue with my elbow and also that I will have to have plate removed. not part of the plan at all.
My husband has been suffering with a pain in his right arm for a few months now. He saw the doctor and he diagnosed it as tennis elbow, he did do a lot of fence painting in the summer, the doc has suggested a cortisone injection in the elbow, just wondering if anyone has had one and are they of any benefit as I've read some horror stories where the pain has been twice as bad afterwards?
View 8 RepliesI had my ulna shortened in September 2015, and the plate is causing me all kinds of pain. The whole entire ulnar side of my forearm hurts all the time, and any kind of pressure on the plate makes the pain much worse! My next appointment with the surgeon's office is April 14th, and then we'll discuss the removal of the plate and screws. Also, I have a ganglion cyst that appeared under one of my debridement scars that they may need to remove. AND- there is a ligament on the palmar side of my wrist, just below my pisiform bone that is causing a bit of pain. My doctor said that it's not unusual for it to happen, as it can "stretch" too far after the shortening, but it's not exactly common either.

View 2 RepliesBeen going to the gym and everything was ok for first few weeks but lately when I workout lifting weights when I push myself to do a rep the back of my neck at head just gets tighter and tighter like it's gonna explode and then soon after would bring on panic attacks stomach discomfort and feel anxious for the rest of the day . Gone that bad I dnt even wana go back to the gym I'm that afraid . Just wondering y this is hopping and what can I do to try prevent it from happening.
