Hemorrhoids For 15 Years - Fybogel, Vaseline And High Fiber - Nothing Works

Jun 11, 2016

I have had enough. I have had these for 15 years now, which started after surgery and was pumped full of drugs for pain relief and ended up really constipated, which I am so angry about. Since then I have suffered and does not take much to set them off. I use fybogel and vaseline to aid things which is great but every now and then they flare up. It often happens after a holiday, as is the case this time. It is difficult eating a high fibre diet at friends and whilst I take fybogel with me I can get lazy taking them. This time it is very painful and am in a vicious circle of going through this a few times a year or going to see someone about it. I am dreading them saying I need surgery. I have 2 external (well, certainly one, and one internal but that is not a problem). The GP gave me diosmine the last time I went but need assurance these will clear up. I am going on a walking holiday this week which is going to be hellish as walking irritates them. I am using vaseline, germoloids cream and witch hazel so can do no more. Ibuprofen works well for the pain but says paracetamol is better as ibuprofen can create problems with bleeding?

Hemorrhoids :: Anusol, Scheriproct, Prep H, Anugesic, Xyloproct - Nothing Works

Hey guys so I'm a healthy 26 year old who has never really had any health problems. unfortunately that changes last July when I discovered an external hemmy (I think) hanging out of my backside. It hurt like crazy and swelled up every time I had a poo to the point I couldn't do anything besides lie in the foetal position till the pain subsided and the swelling went away. I tried everything from anusol, scheriproct, prep h, anugesic, xyloproct. The symptoms seem to get better for a while then worse. The last straw was pus and blood coming out of my backside and a little pimple like thing on the back of my hemmy which got me really worried. I went to the gp for the 5th time on the 4th of Jan and he finally referred me to a specialist as well as prescribing me some antibiotics as he said I had an infection. I was on metronidazole for 7 days which was horrible as it gave me horrible side effects such as nausea, vomiting, feeling very weak and dizzy etc. I had the oral course for 7 days as well as a suppository and was finally feeling better down there. No pus is coming from my backside but my small boil on my hemmy still has pus and every so often drains itself. I have got an appointment for the 8th of March which is reassuring but today I had a bm which was followed by bleeding which hasn't been the norm for about a week now.there's a bit of pain after but nothing in comparison to the pain I used to have before. I'd say I'm at a 3/10 right now. I'm worried about a set back and also about possibly having surgery because the stories I've seen have not been reassuring at all. I'm scared I must say (luckily I'm not constipated because I don't need that right now). Anyone know what I should do it what to expect or what is likely to happen?

Threadworm :: Vaseline And Garlic Will Cure Worms?

I found thread worms last night and was up all night with them, I had to go to work at 7am this morning so I'm very irritable. I've been looking after my brother's son for the past 2 weeks so I think maybe that's how I've got them. I heard that vaseline is a good solution, (applying it to your anus) I was wondering if the females can't get out of your anus to lay their eggs due to the vaseline, where will they lay them? I heard that they tend to lay them inside of you if you cover your anus in vaseline or pop a garlic clove up your back passage, so they start their life cycle again, is this true? I'm on the Meb tablets and am fed up of waiting for them to go, me and my boyfriend are going on holidays in 5 days and I don't want to be riddled with worms.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome :: Fybogel Mebeverine, Colpermin, Wind Eze, Buscopan Didn't Work

I have diagnosed with IBS for nearly 2 years now and have tried a number of medicines (including Fybogel Mebeverine, Colpermin, Wind Eze, Buscopan hyoscine butylbromide, and VSL#3).  This has been complimented by cutting out gluten and following the Fodmap diet.  Nothing has changed and I’m an in constant discomfort i.e. every day, with peaks of pain (stomach pains, wind, need for toilet etc.) and troughs of just simple discomfort in the stomach.  I have lost count of the amount of times I have gone to the doctors and I’m now being broadly told: “you have IBS, deal with it”.  Does anyone have any similar experience of this and has anyone got any suggestions as to what I can try next?  I feel that I am stuck.

15 Years Old Boy With High And Girly Voice

I have a little leg hair, stomach hair below bellybutton, armpit hair and penis hair, but my voice is not only high but ridiculously high. As I say I am 15 and starting college next year and without a doubt I will be with the 5% of other people like me, if even 5%. I am scared to talk to new people and over the phone because people think i'm gay or a girl.

It's seriously bothering me and getting in the way of my life.

When will my voice break, and also when is the latest it will break?

Post Pregnancy Hemorrhoids For Last 2 Years

I am hoping that someone can give me some advice for this ongoing issue I've had. I have had hemorrhoids ever since I was pregnant with my daughter about 2 1/2 years ago. I had a flex sigmoidoscopy 2 weeks ago and they banded 1 internal hemorrhoid. However, I have external piles as well. I have done everything I can to get rid of them but I'm not having much luck. I have been prescribed suppositories and doing those 2x daily, taking miralax to keep my stools soft, fiber pills, water, diet change, sitz bath, and also prescribed a triamcinolone cream that I apply about 5x a day. I'm not having much luck at all. I was hoping that with the banding of the internal hemorrhoid it will help the issue but it hasn't changed anything at all. I feel okay when sitting but after standing for 15 min or longer I start to feel the swelling of the thrombosed hemorrhoids and it's painful and uncomfortable. I went back to the gastroenterologist last week and they said to continue what I was doing and that the hemorrhoid wasn't quite large enough to lance to drain it.

Gallbladder :: Fiber, Green Vegetable With Vitamin K Helped

Personally I used to have severe stomach problems for years; confirmed gallbladder sludge & gastroscope illustrating peptic ulcers in my tummy.

Rather than surgical options or taking medication long term, I've been attempting to get daily requirement of fiber. Attempting to consume fiber before consuming necessary fatty food that initiate digestion, and eating plenty of green vegetable with vitamin K have resulted in what seems to be a full recovery of stomach enzymes over the years.

Very High Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension - 16 Lumbar Puncture In 2 Years

I was diagnosed in October 2006, after been admitted to Hospital with suspected Meningitis. They did a Lumbar Puncture, and the CSF pressure was very high, I was shipped out to a Hospital in Sheffield - Away from Uni, and even further away from family.

It was confirmed I had BIH.

Ever since, I've had to have Lumbar Punctures every 6-8 weeks, with the CSF always way too high. I was put on Diamox too, which didn't do anything at all. I'm now on Topiramate (Topamax), which also doesn't work for me.

I thought it was just people around me deliberately not understanding how painful and disabling it is, but after reading your experiences, it seems not many people understand.

Woke up this morning in pain (like most days), with dodgy vision and loss of coordination, so time for another LP!

Hemorrhoids :: Visible Bumps - No Pain For 2 Years

I have had a case of mild hemorrhoids/piles for a year or two now. There are visible bumps and some mucous, but there is absolutely no pain or discomfort. Just bumps! They don't sting when I touch them at all, but sometimes after painful movements, there's some blood. I'm just concerned by their presence, is there any way I can get rid of them at home? I don't really have the time or money to pay for any surgery, unfortunately. However, if there's any way I can't make them go away, that'd be great. I am twenty years old.

Constipation - Juice, Fruit, Fiber, Vegetable And Vitamins - Not Working

I am constipated most of the time. It goes about 3 weeks, I end up throwing up because food won't go anywhere (I don't induce vomiting, it just comes back up). I get constipated enough that my pelvic area and legs are in pain.

I take a fiber supplement, a multivitamin, and a B vitamin. For breakfast I usually have 2 eggs scrambled with spinach and a protein shake, eat a cup of raw vegetables for a snack, then a cup of raw raw vegetables and baked chicken breast for lunch, then usually stir-"fried" (with water) vegetables with chicken breast or steak for dinner. I drink 96 - 128 oz of water a day. I walk 1 hour a day (mile and a half) M-F and just 1 mile on the weekends with whatever wandering about in stores/shopping I do.

My doctor told me to eat more fiber, so I added the raw vegetables to my lunches 6 months ago, it was previously cooked kale and chicken breast. It just doesn't seem to be helping. The last time I passed stool, there was blood with it. I went to emergency and they didn't see any blood in the sample I gave there, and referred me to a GI doctor. Then I had diarrhea for 3 days (no blood). Now I'm back to constipated.

I'm at a loss. My doctor is at a loss and decided the weight gain/loss is fat, not stool (really!?) and has put me on Phentermine to lose weight. I've been fine on it, and have stopped drinking caffeine since it is one of those drugs that can slam your heart. Haven't lost any weight, just gained, as usual.

My question is more of what can I do to stop this never-ending cycle? I have an appointment with the GI doctor that I am definitely keeping, but this is a lot to slam her with all at once, and I'm trying to figure out how to condense this down with the relevant info. I'd really love any advice, the pain alone is hard to deal with even when I give up and take acetaminophen. My doctor is a great doctor when it comes to other stuff, doesn't seem to get that this is frustrating me to tears. I gain/lose about 20lbs of WASTE every 3 weeks. He doesn't seem to get that this isn't ok.

Hemorrhoids :: 10 Years Of Issue Ends With Haemorrhoidectomy Successfully

I first had an issue with haemorrhoids 16 years ago (when I was 23). I spent a day off work with a bad stomach ache, and straining on the toilet a few times during that day. Later that night I felt a lump, which I now know to be a perianal haematoma which isn’t a haemorrhoid, but it is very very painful and causes haemorrhoids. It is basically a blood clot which the body can break down over two weeks. Pain killers and ointments etc don’t help, the only thing that did is a warm bath. After two weeks it was gone.

Fast forward 5 years to 2001, and after a heavy night on the drink I got up in the morning and fell down the stairs, I landed square flat on my back side, which hurt, but thought nothing of it. Later that day I felt a very painful lump, it was a perianal haematoma again, excruciating painful, it changes your mood and nothing at all helps but a bath, creams are useless. But again, because all it is, is a blood clot, the body breaks it down and it’s gone after 2 weeks.

After two weeks and 2 days after the perianal haematoma occurred (basically 2 days after the perianal haematoma had cleared up) I felt a pain coming on, getting stronger and stronger, but no lump or anything else I could feel or see. This was the start of internal haemorrhoids.

It was very very painful and again all the creams and ointments simply don’t do anything, the only temporary relief was a bath. It hurt all the time, whether I was sitting or standing, I tried carrying on but people must have thought I was miserable, and people simple do not understand, it’s not like you have broken arm that people can see, and you don’t want to tell people what is wrong, and those you do tell, still can’t comprehend the pain.

I gave it a chance to clear up, but it didn’t, so I went to the doctor after a month. The GP at the time referred me. I got an appointment for 2 months later at an NHS hospital (so that’s 3 months in terrible pain, having to carry on at work!) During this time I remembered I actually had private healthcare! So contacted them to hopefully get something sorted a bit quicker.

The NHS hospital banded me 3 times, it was a bit of a factory line, and a bit off putting by a female student being shown the ropes. It was a painful procedure, and as I left I nearly fainted in the car park walking back to my car. I made it, made it home and was very pleased this should be the beginning of the end. I had a follow up appointment just over a month later.

After 2 weeks I was still uncomfortable (but better), so kept my appointment with the private hospital. The consultant there couldn’t really help, he recommended a muscle relaxant.

I went back to the NHS hospital for the follow up appointment and said that I could still feel pain. The same consultant was dismissive, questioned my sexuality and said couldn’t I just ignore the pain. My opinion of him wasn’t a good one, and I didn’t want t go back there!

The relaxant from the private consultant didn’t help. I continued putting up with the discomfort (i’d no longer describe it as pain since the banding) and it eventually went away, by September it was gone completely, brilliant!

A year later I went back to the private hospital because some discomfort had returned. I work with computers so sit down for most of the day, and I was suffering with severe pins-and-needles down the backs of my legs which made sitting very uncomfortable.

He referred me to another consultant and in April 2004 that consultant gave me an injection, which seemed to solve the problem for 4 years.

4 years later I got a perianal haematoma due to a bike ride, I got it checked at the private hospital again and it cleared up by itself in 2 weeks.

A year later another bike ride brought on some pain, and I continued to manage this with off-the-shelf treatments. I was now getting a lump after a bowel movement, this lump would disappear almost immediately however.

I went back to private hospital about the pain and was referred for a endoscopy within the NHS (because I no longer had private healthcare) in Jan 2010. That came back OK, and was banded then also. Things were fine for 6 months.

Pain came back mid 2010 so I decided to go to my new GP (new doctors since moving house) and money was getting tight for the private consultations.

The GP would not refer me, and prescribed Proctosedyl. This didn’t seem to work and I started investigating privately funded options like Halo.

I kept going back to my GP saying I was trying Proctosedyl without much success, I did think it helped but it certainly isn’t a cure.

My GP referred me to hospital for a consultation. The consultant examined me and said it was a small pile mass and not much could be done. That was not good news, but he did want to check for an abscess, so that was good news in terms of progress. I was referred for an ultrasound and went for that in Oct 2010. It was not pleasant at all.

I was then referred for an MRI. A bit worried by that, and went for that in Jan 2011, again all on the NHS which has always been utterly brilliant since the first 3 bandings I had.

All results came back OK and I saw the consultant who then did some banding in Jun 2011. 24 hours later I felt really bad, faint, very cold, shivering, sickness, and slept as soon as I got home, it was like I had some bad reaction to the banding.

The pain had been relieved though, for only a month, so went back to the consultant who did some more banding on 24 Oct 2011. Again the pain cleared up and pain came back just after a month after a bowel movement.

I decided to go back to the private consultant and to ask his opinion in Dec 2011 and he just said enough is enough and it is time to be referred for an operation with the NHS. I got an appointment for February but could not take it. Got another for April and I went for that.

I went into hospital in the morning at 8am. Had an enema at 9:30am which cleared me out good and proper. 11am they came to get me for surgery, 11:50 I woke up, felt brilliant. Then rested.

Other blokes on the ward had trouble doing a wee, one wet the bed because he couldn’t feel anything. Luckily I was fine, did a wee so that meant I could go home.

I got home at 7pm, and slept slept slept. Got out of bed at about 10am the next morning, felt very uncomfortable but I wouldn’t call in painful, afterall the haemorrhoids were painful!

I went out shopping, walking slowly. There was blood, but had a pad to absorb that.

I went back to work the day after, I was getting on fine.

The next day I needed a poo in the morning, and nearly fainted, the pain was unbelievable, and had to take the day off work.

I went to my doctor and he gave me some Lactulose to loosen things up a bit. Going to the toilet became OK after 2 weeks, but successive bowel movements were never as bad as the first.

It is now almost 2 two after my operation, and I still haven’t fully healed. I forget about it sometime which is brilliant, a true test that the pain of piles has been eradicated for me. Some bowel movements can hurt sometime, and produce some blood, but it soon stops.

There has been a lump, which used to ooze puss, but that has stopped, and the lump seems to be getting smaller, very slowly over time.

The operation by the way, was a very simple removal of one haemorrhoid, they didn’t staple, just because it was one, they simply cut it out, good bloody riddance!

So after over 10 years, and creams, bandings, injections, the proper haemorrhoidectomy seems to have solved the problem, but the reluctance of doctors and consultants to refer me for the operation is a surprising one. I have heard it maybe because the cure can be as bad as the symptoms. If someone has been struck by this horrible condition in its worst form, they wouldn’t say that!

Pernicious Anaemia :: B12 - Low Cellular Levels, High Serum Levels After 5 Years Treatment

I found out I had a B12 deficiency 5 years ago.  My levels were very dangerously low at the cellular/functional level.  I was told I was near paralysis. Now, after 5 years, they are still low.  They have come up to almost borderline, but it still flags red on my tests.  My serum levels though are too high for the lab to measure! Its just not getting into my cells so it's not able to be used.  I do twice a week injections plus twice a month IV B12 and still it has taken my body 5 years just to go up a little bit. I feel the effects of the shot for about 15 hours barely then I just feel awful again, thankfully it's prescribed every 2 days.  But I don't want to do it every 2 days forever!

In the beginning I was told it would take a month or two to get my body back to normal and then just a shot every few months for maintenance. My drs have not only increased my dose but also the frequency and STILL after all these years I'm deficient.

Hypertension :: High Carbohydrate Food Causes High Blood Pressure (100/170)?

i am not overweight. Drink a healthy smoothie and whole grain cereal almost every morning yet my BP is still high. (100/170). I was  told it may be because of elevated insulin levels caused by the fruit drinks and whole grains (as well as the potato, rice, pasta and breads) that I eat. These are things that easily break down into sugars and cause the issue. (Basically a carb issue). Am I supposed to go on one of those caveman diets? Has anyone tried lowering their carb intake to lower their BP?

Cardiovascular :: High P Wave And High Diastolic Pressure

Let me start off by saying I am a 20 year old male who was fine before all of this started. I went to the ER for chest pain and palpitations they did the basic test like EKG Xray and Blood work. The ER doctor said i was fine and they let em go home but said i need to see a cardiologist to just make sure everything was fine. So i went to see a cardiologist and the hospital faxed over all of my test results. Based on my ER visits EKG i have an abnormally high P wave everything else on the EKG was fine. They set me up for a Echocardiogram to make sure i did not have an enlarged heart. that test came back normal and they said i did not have a enlarged heart. They set me up for a Stress Echo test I went in for the test got my heart rate up to 200bpm the before and after pictures of my heart looked good and they said everything was working fine and that i was healthy. But during the test i still have those high P waves showing up on the EKG which he said was caused because I am very thin chested and my hear beats close to the surface of my chest so the EKG pick up a higher voltage. Now i have noticed a slight arrhythmia when i take my pulse it tends to beat at 60 bpm then 5 or 6 beats later it jumps to 80 bpm then back to 60 after 5 or so beats. This comes and goes and does not happen all the time and when it does happen it only last up to 30 minutes but during that time i feel fatigued . And finally my blood pressure seems high the systolic pressure is always within normal range its the diastolic that always above normal when i tested my blood pressure with a home blood pressure monitor today it was at 135 over 87 then when i tested it later on in the day it was 127 over 83 i have noticed in multiple test the diastolic seem to float around the mid 80's to 90's the highest i have seen is 133 over 99. The cardiologist does not see to think there is anything wrong with me I have another appointment this week to bring up the high blood pressure and the arrhythmia.

The pain is not so great as to cause bleeding, toilet trouble but the pain is there every day for two months.

Putting on ointments in public toilets all the time to cool the pain. Awful. Inconvenient and interferes with daily life.

Gets worse with stress.

Getting desperate, looking online - Venapro. But online wonder-meds never seem to work so I'm sceptical.
