I wanted to know if this is normal, I am almost 4 weeks post op and I am not getting any notice I need a number 2 I have to rush to the toilet, I don't have the runs but a bit concerned can anyone help?
View 12 RepliesThis is my 2nd episode of hyperthyroidism, the first was 3 years ago and was controlled with meds and then I was discharged with no further action. I started to feel ill again just before Christmas and knew straight away what it was. This time my GP prescribed meds and also ultrasound. The results have come back and although they can't see any nodules it apparently shows some changes so I now have to go back to endocrinologist I saw 3 years ago. As I say I am feeling a lot better but am still very irritable and bowels seem to be getting worse! Although my GP hasn't given me details he says my levels are nearly normal but wants me to continue with dose until I see specialists. Anyone else having the bowel problems?
View 1 RepliesI'm now almost 4 weeks post abdominal and it still hurts to wee. It's not severe but I definitely feel it, especially if I don't go immediately. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I don't have any symptoms of infection and everything seems to be going well with my recovery. I even laid on my stomach in bed last night...for about 10 minutes lol
Off to Endo tomorrow to see what they say, I was wondering if anybody is taking Carbimazole with HRT. Had complete hysterectomy last year so taking HRT and just wondering if this has anything to do with my over active thyroid, a few people spoke to know of women who have had hysterectomy and gone on to have OA thyroid.
View 1 RepliesI am 67 years of age. In the past year I have begun to have hot flashes again. Is this normal? My doctor said well that is one of those things we have to put up with. I had stopped having problems with hot flashes about 45 years of age or before. When I had total hysterectomy those stopped. Can anyone tell me about why this might be the norm and we have to put up with it until death!
View 1 Repliesthink i've finally hit ground zero after hysterectomy and ovary removal, I'm in my third week. Hot flushes are manageable but the overwhelming feeling of doom and the constant feeling of anxiety is getting to me! Is this it or will I get better? I can't have HRT, I'm taking menopace and I don't want to take anti depressants! I am due to go back to a very stressful job in 3 weeks and am worrying myself sick!
View 32 RepliesI just turned 49 and have fibroids and thick lining of my uterus. I am told my uterus is the size of a 3 month pregnancy. My periods are always heavy and usually 2 x a month, however the last two months they were normal flow and only lasted 5 days, the last period was very late as well. So apparently my hormones are changing.
Thing is, I need a tummy tuck due to a severe and painful scar from my last c section. I was given the option of having both partial hysto and TT done at the same time but it seems like too much to go through at once.
I am not sure if I NEED a hysterectomy or not, but I do need a TT.
by the way I also seem to suffer from incontinence from time to time and not sure of my large uterus is responsible.
I had my hysterectomy in March, still not back at work after having lots of pain in abdomen. Been to see consultant on a few occasions since. She's quite dismissive of the pain.
I have got new pains now lower abdomen pricking/ shooting pains above my scar.
I am on gabapentin now which has not started working yet.
Can you have tubes out and not a hesterectomy
View 1 RepliesI had a total robotic hysterectomy on 11/17/14. after my 6wk ok for sex, it was very painful, bleeding,watery dishcharge, felt something inside my vag. I went to dr. an he said I had scar tissue and possibly didn't get all my cervix(how is that poss)so he put silver nitrate on it and I went back 4wks. said I still had some so put more silver nitrate on.. went back 2 wks later, said it was all gone and didn't see cervix & I didn't feel anything either (was ok for sex)we had sex 1x and very easy. was painful but not horrible. haven't since until 4/28/15. it was horrible, bleeding, cramps, excruciating pain. deep thrusts especially. since ive had watery yellow discharge (some odor)again -so much its like I pee myself-not pee, and feel a hard, thin something inside vag. (tongue shaped)when i touch it or move it, I instantly cramp bad. I need to know what is going on, y I cant have sex (never had prob presurgery)could it be torn cuff? is that my cervix still left?
View 1 RepliesI have never had an operation before, I'm not bothered at all about having my womb cut out; I'm afraid of being anaesthetised. If it were possible, I wouldn't mind just having the area anaesthetised and staying awake and watching the whole operation.
I have asthma, I am allergic to some local anaesthetics as well as other medicines, and I have developed breathing difficulties when taking certain medicines, including sleeping pills. I'm afraid that I will stop breathing or have an allergic reaction. Also that I may wake up in the middle of the operation (I've sometimes stayed awake after taking strong prescription sleeping pills), that I might become brain damaged,,go into a coma, go into a locked-in state where I can sense everything around me but everybody thinks I'm unconscious, or worst of all, just never wake up.
I had a cat who went completely deaf after being anaesthetised for a routine dental exam, but he had a heart condition already, which may have caused this by preventing enough oxygen from getting to his ears when he was under the anaesthetic.
I know people who have had many operations and they were fine every time. Did anybody else have the same fear of anaesthesia before their operation? How did you get over it?
Has anyone had TAH and not had morphine after as really don't want this drug in my body and would rather have either an alternative or no pain relief at all. And if not had pain relief then truthfully how painful have you found it.

View 1 RepliesI had a partial hysterectomy and another partial hysterectomy in 2003. And two weeks ago at the doctor's office I tested positive for being pregnant. Last night I took a ovulation test had two lines for positive. The nurse said you can't ovulate with no ovaries. I just went to take the blood test now I am wanting for that.
View 1 RepliesI am 28 I have had a full Hysterectomy two years in Feb. I am gaining weight! I have gained 20 pounds in less than two years, I am not taking in hormones.. the only area that is really gaining wait is my stomach! I started to take the hormones about a year ago and i began to bleed so I stopped! My sex life is the same no change, I have grown hair like my wax I have to get more often than I use to but that is the only change and it is bothering me I use to be like a 6/8 now I can still wear 8 but to be comfortable I am getting a 10 one dress i had to get a 12... I know clothes are made differently so that is a matter but I never NEVER had to buy those sizes before a 8 was my fat clothes not that seems to be my size!

View 8 RepliesI am three weeks post op from a subtotal hysterectomy, removal of both ovaries and removal of a giant ovarian cyst. The cyst was enormous , over 30 cms/11pints, and I was told before my op I would need HRT, but couldn't start until the histology results were back for the cyst. I have now had confirmation that all was benign so need to make some decisions about managing this surgical menopause. I am aware that being thrown into menopause due to ovary removal means I can expect severe symptoms, but so far I have only experienced night sweats. That said early days.
I would like some advice on HRT. I have read about bioidentucal HRT, but don't know if it is just hype. There are also gels, creams, implants, tablets, oestrogen only or combined HRT. I just need to hear what has worked for others. I have no family history of cancer, but I do of heart disease. I myself am healthy but I am about five stone overweight. I would like to protect myself against osteoporosis, that is my main priority I think. I am 47 and had not started the menopause before my op. Any anecdotal advice much appreciated.
In Jan '09 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I opted to have a hysterectomy due to I was done having kids. I had it done in feb '09. Doctor said that everything look fine and sent me home. I called the doctor's office daily complaining of pain. They told me I was being lazy and needed to get up and walk around more. They said I was having gas pains. Finally the doctor told me to get gas ex that would help. I went back to work about 6 weeks later. While I was at work I started leaking urine. The next day I went back to the doctor (OB) and all he could say is I don't know what is wrong. they but a catheter on me and I was still leaking around that. They ran test after test. Finally when that day was over they sent me home with a catheter and said get some rest come back tomorrow and talk to the urology department we have no clue. I had 3 kids husband out of town working and I am in severe pain. My mother in law took me to the doctor the next day and he said oh your ureter was damaged during surgery we just need to do a minor surgery to put a stent in there and you will be as good as gold. They did the surgery that day. When I woke up they told me that I had 15 mins to get my head on right cause I had to go to the hospital to have a nerostophy tube put in my ureter was actually cut in half. I had no clue what was going on. My mother in law took me over there where I was admitted into the hospital for my 2nd surgery that day. When the doctors there but the tube in they hit my main nerve in my back so every time I would breathe I would get sharp shooting pains up my back. I was sent home with cather and tube for 6 weeks. then in 6 weeks I have a Ureter replacement surgery. The doctor there did wonderful. But to this day I get kidney infections VERY easily and I am ALWAYS in pain in my right side on my back right by my kidney. I was wondering does anyone else have this problem?
View 1 RepliesI was 28 when I had my total hysterectomy, I am now 35 and the hot flashes are still winning:( I went from having hot flashes every 45 minutes on the dot, around the clock, to having them every few hours around the clock. I refuse to take HRT. Regardless the only thing that has helped so far is Black Black Cohosh, herbal supplement. I recently (December 2010) decided to venture into the world of acupuncture. So many people says it works to completely eliminate or help with hot flashes. When I went to a very reputable acupuncturist she told me it may not help because I've been having them for so long:( To date I've had 5 sessions of the acupuncture. No relief, in fact maybe more intense hot flashes. I am still being hopeful and continuing treatment. The other medicine my doctor gave me right after my hyster was Effexor. That medication is an anti-depressant. It is supposed to help with the hot flashes also. I'm guessing due to the fact that it gives me decreased sensitivity to stress! I've asked every doctor I've encountered how long will the flashes last? Not one single doc can give me an answer. Kinda absurd eh! Well hopefully some of the things I've shared can help someone else.

Poured a lukewarm bath and in I go..........bliss
it was so relaxing - I felt great.
And then the problem ......... How do I get out?
had to shout on my hubby as I was well and truly stuck. I managed to get onto my knees and out that way. Was not a pretty sight.
That's what I get for being too confident.
