Ischial Tuberosity (sitting-bone) Pain :: Physiotherapy Aggravated The Issue

Aug 30, 2014

I've been having pain sitting, standing, & walking very far (at all) for over a year now. I had a spinal fusion done at the L -5/S -1 level back in 2002, & my docs keep close tabs on my back. I've had a tiny tear in the L-4 for many years, but most the docs feel my current problem has absolutely nothing to do with my spine - I agree. I have been diagnosed with a hip labral tear in my right hip socket about 4 months ago, but not bothered enough to do the drastic surgery. Doc injected left hip socket due to pain, but again, not my main problem.

I've had physical therapy (which aggravated the left socket), steroid injections into the ischial tuberosity bursa (both sides) - due to the doc thinking probable ischial tuberosity bursitis, which it is not, & am scheduled for an EMG down both sides of my lumbar spine (I hate those tests - they really hurt!). Meanwhile, I've been working with my chiropractor who does adjustments, percussion massage, iontophoresis, & cold laser treatment on me twice a week.

NO ONE knows what this is, WHERE to send me, or how to FIX it!

Recurrent UTI With Pain Near Ischial Tuberosity

I cannot find any doctor to help me. It started in November .. I thought I was having some back pain and went to the DR and found out I had a UTI. I was optimistic I would take the antibiotic and all would be fine. Well after I completed the Cipro the UTI was still there. They switched me to Macrobid and it cleared up. I continued having the pain in my back, hip and near my ischial tuberosity (sit bone). The sit bone felt very tender upon palpation and when i would press on it, it would also then initiate an anal reflex. (I think a sphincter is somewhere around there). I have gone to orthopedic doctors, and I have an appointment today with a Urologist as the UTI has come back twice since then. It all seems interconnected. I also have these shooting pain up and down my labia ... to my hip as well. It is all on my right side as well.

Ischial Tuberosity? Autoimmune? Tendinopathy - Prolotherapy

I have been suffering from pain on the gluteal region (it worsens when sitting), sitz bones (ischial tuberosity), upper thighs, lumbar region and feet (calcaneum) for almost 2 years now. I'm 26, have always been healthy, but I have to say this condition is affecting my quality of life SEVERELY.

I have researched a lot about my ailment, read many scientific articles, have been to almost 50 doctors and still I haven't received a proper diagnose. I have already done many exams to investigate the source of my pain, namely: MRIs, CT scans, electroneuromyography of the perineum/legs, dozens of urine and blood exams, etc.

I (together with some physicians and physiotherapists) have come up with some diseases which are compatible to the symptoms (burning pain on the pelvis, ischial tuberosity, perineum, pubic bones, upper thighs, calcaneum), such as:

1. Pudendal nerve entrapment (negative result after an ANGiography)
2. Ischial Bursitis (negative after a MRI scan, no bursas inflamed)
3. Hamstring Tendinosis/Tendinopathy (negative on MRIs)
4. Prostatitis (no bacteria detected whatsoever, although I have taken antibiotics - PSA normal)
5. Autoimmune diseases (Reactive Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis - negative)
6. Lyme Disease (inconclusive, took doxycycline for 3 weeks though)
7. Irritable Bowel Syndrome
8. Sciatica/Piriformis Syndrome (hypothesis ruled out after intense physical therapy, pilates for over 11 months)

The only exam that showed something not normal was a discreet enthesitis on both heels (calcaneum). That's why rheumatologists thought it could be some autoimmune disorder. Apart from that, everything seems pretty normal. My vitamin D levels are low too, but I have started taking vitamin supplements and my vitamin levels (not only D) are almost close to normal.

I was wondering if someone with similar symptoms have already received a light on that. I have visited a lot of forums on the internet with ppl complaining about the same things, but never read/learned about someone who received an ultimate/precise diagnose., nor did I found anybody who actually recovered from that.

Medication taken to date: Lyrica, Prednisone, Cymbalta, Ciprofloxacin, Doxycycline, Arcoxia, Sulphasalazine, Fluoxetine, Naproxen, Cyclobenzaprine

I have recently started a new treatment called Prolotherapy. I've read it is a helpful technique for chronic tendinopathy.

Ischial Tuberosity Bursitis - Cortisone Injections Every Six Months

I've had this nasty problem for almost 5 years now. I was in a severe vehicle collision where I fractured my L1 vertebrae, and then about 6 months later, I started getting this nagging pain in my left sit bone and down my leg.

I was misdiagnosed for the first 3 years of it. At first they thought I had piriformis syndrome ( which is most doctor's first diagnosis since it sends pain down the sciatic nerve. I did 6 months of rigorous physio/chiro/needling to attempt to fix the pain, but nothing helped.

Then they thought it was a bulging disc radiating pain down my back from the injury.

All the while, my pain was getting worse and worse. Taking more and more pain medication. Getting heavy into the opiates. Then after losing my career in the military, and after a year of wasting time. I finally got in to see a spinal specialist. one who teaches around the world and after 5 minutes of asking questions and a couple of manipulations, he diagnosed my with Ischial Tuberosity bursitis.

While I was happy to finally KNOW what it was. It hasn't been fixed. I get cortisone injections every six months, and unfortunately the relief is is not the best. I am taking a Fentanyl patch for consistent pain relief.

It sucks that a pain in my butt is a constant in my daily life. It's depressing and it makes it so i can't live like a normal person....doing normal things....movies, dinners, socializing, driving... etc.

All I do, is try to keep on moving......moving....trying to stay flexible...doing my stretches....trying to keep in decent shape and health.

If anyone wants to chat about their issues with Ischial Bursitis, I'd be glad to. Or if anyone wants to know about treatments etc....ask away.

Bone / Joint :: Pain After Bone Spur/arthritis Surgery On Shoulder

I had surgery on June 14, 2011 to remove a bone spur on my left clavicle and to remove arthritis near (but not in) my shoulder joint.  It was the worse experience of my life. I was in constant agonizing pain for 2.5 months. Just for the record, I've had two ulnar nerve surgeries on my left AND right elbows and never even needed pain medication. This shoulder surgery apparently did not relieve any of my pain. I still have a dull aching pain through out the day starting in my neck (left side) to my shoulder, and down my bicep to my elbow.  I still can not sleep at night, and through out the day while working my shoulder/arm/ neck is killing me. I continue to take an Naproxin and continue to rotate heat and ice. I did physical therapy for the first two months after surgery. My concern is that had arthroscopic surgery, and there was NO rotator damage so why is my shoulder still in pain? My shoulder pops when I do try to rotate it.. and often when I simply reach outward for something..I'm in excruciating pain. I'm a baker, so I am constantly lifting a 34-50lb metal mixing bowl and have to reach many times through out the day. There really is no way to not do my job duties and still retain my job. Any ideas why I'm still having this problem?

Ischial Sit Pain - Piriformis Syndrome? Ablation OF L2, L3, L4, L5 And S5

I've been dealing with sit pain for almost 4 years. Mostly feels like on the bone on my left butt cheek but from time to time moves to the outside of iT (along panty line) or to the inside between bone and groin. I can't pinpoint any particular event that caused it. Been mis-diagnosed as piriformis syndrome, have had tons of injections, PT for SI joint issues, sciatica injections, ischial bursitis injections, when pudendal nerve (but didn't pursue that) & today I had RF ablation oF L2, L3, L4, L5 and S5. I've not had back pain except once in awhile an ache in lower back & hips feeling out of alignment (probably self inflicted trying not to sit on my left butt cheek). Anyone else having the same issue or found a solution?

Hip Replacement :: Severe Pain From Physiotherapy On Other Hip

I am feeling quite distraught after my appointment with the physio, she assessed my penguin walking which I am quite proud of, it is a tiny bit of progress - I thought I was doing okay....I am managing well given I am looking after two young children with no help, the house and a house full of animals - she told me off for prioritising the children which is impossible for me to do otherwise at the moment.

But the worst of it is when she corrected my posture has caused so much pain in my non operated hip, groin and back, it has left me in agony, I actually feel sick.

I have never felt so despondent in my life, she made me feel terrible, and finished by saying that I probably need a hip replacement for the left hip just like that! As if it was nothing. I felt slapped by that casual comment - given what we all go through it is not the best news, and I could have done with her breaking it to me a little more gently.

Hip Replacement :: Pain From Sitting To Standing And Walking

I'm 27, I got ejected out of a car at 17. I broke my hip and shattered my pelvis. My first surgery was to reconstruct my pelvis than a year later I had a total hip replacement. I hurt every single day, the worst pain is from sitting to standing and walking that initial step on my bad hip is excruciating. I don't take pain meds anymore if anyone has any tip for pain relief.

Endometriosis Laparoscopy Too Much Pain On Sitting And Laying On Sides

I had a successful Diagnostic Laparoscopy for suspected Endometriosis under general anesthesia in a general hospital and it was done in a little over one hour, I remained in recovery care for 4 hours due to pain and low blood pressure procedure was done yesterday (29th) fortunately doctor was able to treat all the areas/spots that contained Endometriosis growth/adhesions, she made 4 incisions and said that the procedure was smooth and successful. I've been home for roughly 22 hours now. I had a catheter so I'm left with a moderate burning and discomfort which seems to slowly be wearing off in my urethra it's naturally very narrow but thankfully I am able to urinate regardless of the Burning and the discomfort which I was told to expect. I managed to drink mint tea, water, juice and a light meal yesterday though I didn't have much of an appetite and I haven't eaten today either I just don't feel like it at all did this happen to any of you ladies? I am consistent with the pain and anti-inflammatory meds that I have prescribed for me due to the amount of pain I am in. So far I'm in bed laying on my back either resting or sleeping I feel incredibly exhausted. I have a follow up in 4 weeks or so with my doctor and I have her cell number as well which is comforting. Now I just want to know am I the only one who couldn't sit the first day of the surgery? If I force myself to sit I.e when I go to the bathroom I'm in so much pain and it kinda got worse after I got home probably due to the wearing off of the anesthesia. All I know for sure is sitting and the mere attempt of laying on my sides results in lots of pain and the only comforting and least painful position is to lay back down on my back with my head slightly elevated and my feet as well. My abdominal area feels awfully sore and.....

Pilonidal Sinus Coming Back? Pain On Sitting

Can anyone advise me? I had my first PS op last June '09. I am still experiencing pain when sitting for any length of time - whether in office for the day - or on car journey. I have not had recurrence of actual opening of the wound itself (altho it took a long time to close) and no abscess' - but the discomfort frightens me that it could be coming back! My GP tells me to wait and see for a while!

Digestive Disorders :: Upper Abdominal Pain, Metallic Taste, Bone Pain

I'm a 27 year old female and I've been having abdominal pain for 2 months now. I've had a CT scan and blood tests done and everything came back normal other than an elevated WBC in the urinalysis. I can't get in to see my doctor for a few days and just want some peace of mind. I'm having bad sharp upper abdominal pain. It started on the left side originally but is now happening all over my stomach and I'm ridiculously bloated. I started having weird bone pain a few weeks afterward--there is no pattern. My hands will hurt, then my left leg will hurt, then my right hip, etc. Today I started noticing a metallic taste in my mouth as well. Anyone know what this could be? I've researched everything from hemochromatosis (my mom carries the gene) to H Pylori but nothing fits perfectly.

Vaginal Health :: Small Ridge Of Bone On Entrance, Pubic Bone?

My vagina opening is wide enough to fit a tampon, which i've done on many occasions however, anything larger than this and it doesn't seem to stretch anymore. The actual skin can stretch fine and does but at the opening is a small ridge of bone. Once you reach past this bit of bone, inside the vagina it can stretch fine, it's just that one ridge, i can put my finger round it and hook it but I can't actually move the bone (obviously)So my problem is just that when I come to having sex, nothing will fit. I think this bone is the pubic bone which is just sunk down too far. I can also feel it right behind my clitoris and urethra opening like everything has been squashed down into one small area. It doesnt come very far up on my front 'mound' but comes too far down underneath in my vaginal area.Is this normal? Has anyone experienced this? What should I do?

Bone On Bone - Partial Knee Replacement After Microfracture Surgery?

I am a 47 year old female. I had Microfracture Knee surgery on January 12, 2016 and it was not a success. My doctor said that I am still bone on bone and will need a partial knee replacement. He uses the Oxford Partial Knee and says it is the best one to go with. I was able to get a Synvisc injection on May 12, 2016. My doctor and I are both hopeful that this will give me some time to make this big decision. I have had a really hard time recovering from the microfracture surgery. I was on crutches for five weeks and my knee got stuck in a bent position. I was in therapy for three months and I still cannot walk with a straight knee. The thought of undergoing another surgery is so scary.  I just want to be normal again and do all the things that I used to do before.

Osteoporosis And Osteopenia :: Bone Density Vs. Bone Quality

I found a paper recently that contained some insights that might be worth thinking about." Studies of Osteoporosis (OP) and drug treatments have challenged the concept that denser bone means stronger bone. Bone strength, or resistance to fracture, is not easily measured by routine DXA as it is a function of both density and quality".

(Cleveland Clinic, Angelo Licata 2009).

Headache :: Occipital Bone Pain?

Four days ago I woke up with pretty bad pain on my Occipital bone one the right side.It felt bruised and hurt to touch. Then the pain was constant and throbbing. Now,four days later my neck on that side is tight and sore and have had a constant headache. Before this I was having pain on the same side in my face right near my ear as well as ear pain.I am SUPER dizzy too.I do have meniere's disease as well so I think this problem is aggravating the menieres and dizziness.

I saw my ENT for the ear and face pain and she noticed I had fluid in my ear and treated it,but said it did not look like an infection. My nose has been super stuffy as well.

Having meniere's I tend to hold my head stiff in fear of dizziness and I sleep propped on 4 pillows due to dizziness. After researching all I keep seeing is OCCIPITAL NEURALGIA 😳.I read it can be from neck issues or sometimes infection and the lymph nodes in the Occipital swell.I plan on calling the Dr tomorrow but does anyone have thoughts or similar symptoms? The pain is pretty bad. It feels just like I bumped my head.....Anyone?
