Possibly Parathyroid Disease - Painful Joints, Unable To Focus, Tired, Dizzy, Tingling Legs

Aug 25, 2013

My blood calcium level is 10.6. So far what I've read on the Internet it looks like parathyroid disease but I'm not sure. I just tested again on calcium and the parathyroid but I won't know anything till next week and I'm going out of town tomorrow and I know I won't be able to enjoy myself like I should worrying about this. So I have all the symptoms like painful joints, unable to focus, tired, dizzy, tingling legs and feet and easily set off. But what worries me is that a year ago it was discovered I have an enlarged pituitary gland that I haven't followed up on and I've read something about that. Also I am a smoker so does anyone know if I would feel like this if its cancer. I've had issues with my neck for awhile. It was swollen a couple of years ago to where it felt like a golf ball in the back. Now it feels tight in the front. Could it be throat cancer?

Vitamin D Deficiency And Exercise - Muscles And Joints Are Stiff And Painful

I've just had a blood test which showed vitamin D deficiency. I have very little energy, my muscles and joints are stiff and painful, and my feet really hurt when I try to walk any distance. I've always been very fit and active so I'm wondering whether I should push myself to exercise even though I don't feel like it or whether I risk making my condition worse by pushing myself too hard. I'm taking vitamin D supplements but I've seen from other posts on this forum that it might take months to get better. I find swimming less painful than walking or cycling so maybe that is okay?

Osteoporosis Relation To Parathyroid Disease?

I have general query regarding parathyroid disease in the context of women with 50+ years of age. Is osteoporosis a symptom of this kind of disease ? Or, does it need to be both vitamin-D3 & Ca to be high in Blood too ? For example, if x-ray shows osteoporosis & also vitamin-D3 (25 OH) is too low (i.e. < 15), can we simply rule out parathyroid disease here ? Or, to be sure, we need to test serum Ca as well ?

Severe Vitamin D Deficiency - Fatigue, Depression - Joints / Arm / Legs Pain

I have recently been diagnosed with Vit D deficiency...the level in my blood was under 10 (it was actually at 3) when it should have been at least over 50.  I think it has been this low for at least a year. I didn't get any sunshine at all last year (severe hot flushes so avoided sunshine) without realising the consequences.  My diet has not been ideal either.  After several blood tests to test thyroid, and lots of other things, the locum GP came up with a severe Vitamin D deficiency.

Over the last 6 to 8 months my health has noticeably deteriorated with  severe tiredness, no energy, really bad aches and pains, with severe pain in my joints, disturbed sleep, very depressed, etc. Plus I am pre menopausal and have depression, all of which are being treated separately and fairly successfully.

Anyway a locum GP put me on 20000iu of Vit D daily for two weeks which I finished this week...and now my usual GP has put me on a long term daily maintenance dose of 800iu Vit D (and didn't seem sure why I was on a daily dose of the 20000).

Anyway I had a business trip yesterday, 6 hours total travelling and 6 hours in meeting, and half hour walks to the station and back....and the result on my body has been catastrophic.  Really aching all over, severe pains in my arms and legs, both much more than usual, bad back, and just generally feel awful.  Is this to be expected?  Is this normal with a vit D deficiency.  How long will it be before I start to see any benefits.  The doc mentioned it will be at least another 6 months before my blood levels are tested but I work full time, am a carer at home and really want to start feeling better soon.

Social Anxiety - Always Tired And Unable To Socialize

So I started college in the Fall of 2014, finished a semester and quit. I couldn't order food at the food court, ask questions, give a presentation or talk to anyone without being nervous and "rehearsing" what I was going to say over and over again in my head before I could attempt to say something. It was mentally draining trying to keep up with school work and deal with the social aspect of college at the same time. I gave up my dream of being a Veterinary Assistant because of stupid social anxiety. When I'm talking with people, I feel like I can't catch my breath, can't keep eye contact and I feel cloudy for some reason like I'm in a dream. I feel that way a lot, I try so hard to stay calm at all times and just block out the anxiety but I can't. I feel so mentally drained by the time I get home, and no matter how much sleep I get, I still feel exhausted when I wake up. I'm not depressed, but I always feel so tired. Does medication help? I'm afraid of it having a bad effect on me. I just want to know if other people feel the way I do, and how they handle it.

Perimenopause 55 - Tired, Achy And Dizzy

I am 55 and up until last month I was still having pretty regular periods even though they were extremely heavy and somewhat erratic. It was 3 months in between periods, last month. (I hope that makes sense!) This was the first time there had been that much time in between periods.

Lately I have been having headaches often. Something that I'm not used to. I can deal with that mostly, but lately I've had flu like symptoms that will come for a day or so and go away for 4-5 days. I feel normal then but it only comes back. I have no fever, but feel as if I do. I'm so tired, achy, and dizzy, sometimes nauseated, just as if I have the flu. This has been going on for the past month. I also feel as if the glands are swollen in my throat, but they are not. I also feel much tension in the back of my neck. This is a repeated thing, over and over.

When I feel great, I feel great! When I feel awful! I feel awful!

HELP! Am I losing it!!??

All of my friends have either gone through this years and years ago and don't remember many of the symptoms or have had hysterectomies and can't relate.

I'm hoping someone here can relate to these symptoms so I don't lapse into yet another state of hypochondria!

Vitamin D Deficiency - Neck And Shoulder Pain - Tired And Dizzy

I've been unwell for on and off now for almost a year. I remember phoning off sick a couple of times before feeling tired and 'achy'. I thought I was just being lazy and this was psychosomatic. Then I started getting really ill when I developed a sudden onset of neck/shoulder pain which is still an ongoing problem now although the pain has turned into discomfort/ache which I have learned to manage doing exercise and stretches. I also feel sensitivity on other parts of my body (like invisible bruises. For 6 months I was coping with my neck/shoulder problem (symptoms are crawling/tingling sensation in the arm, sensitivity to touch like its bruised and cold feeling and dull ache on my shoulder blade).

Then gradually I started developing 'flu like symptoms' without cough or cold but with tiredness/fatigue and dizzy headache which are intermittent throughout the day, until 2 weeks later I started getting throbbing ache in my legs and eventually I couldn't sit all day without getting restless legs and crawling/tingling sensation in my legs which caused weakness in my legs and worse when I'm going upstairs - and my knees keeps clicking. I went to my doctors who prescribed me with naproxen. And told me that I had something called Reactive Arthritis, which i thought was a misdiagnosis. Overall I thought that it could be viral related

This time I've been off work for a week when I started to feel better after a week on naproxen. I came back to work for a week feeling like i thought I recovered. Then boom 2 weeks later gradually the flu like symptom came back with extreme tiredness / fatigue and I've been in bed since. I'm still achy all the time regardless. I have no energy to do anything, even showering is a struggle. I've been in bed most of the time, sometimes I try to go out with my husband for a few hours but I come back home absolutely exhausted and the soreness/headache i get is a different level. Most of the time I feel like my body is inflamed.

So i decided to get a second opinion and i went to see another GP who referred me for a blood test. A few days later, my results came through and I have Vitamin D deficiency. Everything else they tested seem fine. I have a better outlook now though after the diagnosis, apparently it will take months for the treatment to take effect. I guess now they found something they will stop investigating further (which worries me a little bit) but i guess its process of elimination so treat one thing at a time. Would be great to hear from others who also has this deficiency and whether the treatment was effective?

Leukemia :: Bruising Around Legs, Tired, Pain

For the past weeks I've been getting random bruises around my legs, but now I found one in my arm. I find them weird because I don't bruise easily, plus they are tiny (although there is one that is larger in size) and I don't recall hitting myself with anything repeatedly to cause them. Additionally, I've been feeling increasingly tired, even when I sleep for a long time (i.e. 10 hours). Could this be related?

I've had leg pains for the past 12 years (I'm 20), but the reasons are still unknown. Could the bruises be related to this?

Plus, I get pains around my right-lower back, and around my uterus (like slight cramps. The last time I went to the gynecologist a sonogram was performed and I had an ovarian cyst. I was supposed to return after my period for another sonogram to see if it was endometriosis (it was a huge cyst), but was not able to. Are these pains related to that, or something else?

Dizzy Spells - Also Get Tingling On One Side

I have been having vertigo for 6 months.. On my 4th dr and seems I know more than they do.. I have no life anymore as I can't drive, scared to go anywhere and have given up seeing friends because the vertigo is getting worse.. Has gone from less than a minute with moving to 3 minutes and I can just be laying here. I have researched for months and can't seem to find my exact symptoms.. When my vertigo starts I also get tingling on one side. Does anyone know what this could be so I can help my dr find a diagnosis.. Not knowing adds to the anxiety and I am about ready to cry just typing this.

Sjogren's Syndrome :: Hydroxychloroquine - Painful Muscles Of Legs

I have been on 400mg of Plaquenil for 7 months now, but for the last 2 months I have been experiencing muscle problems in my legs, it is so painful that I am yelling out with pain.  I stopped taking the Plaquenil and the muscle problems stopped.  My GP (American Dr) advised that the Plaquenil was the cause of my pain, although my GP (English) advised that he did not think it was the medication.  I am now confused because once I stopped the medication my pain went away?  I am now waiting to see my RA but have been waiting for 2 months now, and been on no medication since.  Now my bloods are really high again and all my pains and symptoms are back.  As anyone else had the same issue with this medication?

Anxiety :: Numbness And Tingling In Face And Legs

I'm a 30 year old female who lately has been going through a tough time. I have always been a worrier, especially when it comes to health. Since I was 9 years old I've worried about different diseases (especially after googling) which made me convinced my life would end several times in my life. Right now I'm going thru a bad phase which I don't know what to do. It all started last year when I started getting lots of numbness and tingling in face and legs. Then in November I started getting left sided chest pain which is 24/7 stabbing pains. I've been to emergency twice since Feb. And they did EKG, xray and blood tests which supposedly came out fine. Then, in February I started getting heart palpitations, skipping beats. At this point I was convinced I have heart disease. 3 weeks ago the mild dizziness started where I felt I was gonna faint. During the time it started I remember going out to eat with my hubby and kids and I literally felt like I was not there, as if I was in another planet, everything felt unreal. I've been really tired too. I've been seeing a cardiologist who did an EKG, heart Echo. And tomorrow I'm having a stress test and a holter monitor for 24 hours. He thinks its anxiety. But I am not convinced. I'm just extremely scared of dying because I have 3 children who are all under 7 years old. By the way, I did want to mention that from October thru March I was going thru a big worry with the law. Don't want to get into details but I was very worried for 5 months that I was going to go to jail. Everything turned out fine however, I don't know if that worry triggered physical anxiety symptoms.

Vaginal Health :: Constant Tingling In Clitoris And Legs

I have been having this tingling sensation in my clitoris and legs for a couple of days now, I could hardly sleep last night, and if I try and stay still my feet spasm or my legs do.

It's like a constant turned on feeling but it won't go away and it's annoying! My clitoris seems to be extra sensitive a bit red and a bit swollen..

I'm dreading the thought of PSAS and all the research I have tried to do has just led to herpes, PSAS, nerve damage and other big worded things lol, does anybody else get this feeling does it go away? Usually it will after I orgasm but it didn't and I tried 3 times last night...I won't tonight incase it is nerve damage, it's just a bit scary because it's so distracting
