I had my TURP operation 8 weeks ago, the bleeding stopped after about 10 days and along with a few scabs. At the moment I find when I go to pass urine, although it comes out fast, there does not seem to be a great amount. Has anyone else come across this.
View 44 RepliesI just had a cystoscopy and it seems like I am headed for a TURP. My local urologist seems quite competent but I am wondering if I would do better with a large medical center perhaps equipped with robotic surgery like Da Vinci.
View 78 RepliesJUst wanted to share my experience with my turp surgery. I'm 45yrs old, too young some say for me to having prostate issues but I put it down to my father side of the family (my father and uncles all currently suffer from enlarged prostates)
For the last couple of years been suffering from weak urine stream, having a full night sleep and waking up in the morning with the urge to go wee just to wee a small trickle. I also suffered from time to time having blood in the urine.
Went to see the Urologist, he did some testing, test on the strength on my urine flow (very weak the doc said) he put a camera up my penis to see inside and we could see clearly that my prostate was enlarge and was putting pressure on my bladder which probably explained why sometimes I could see blood on my urine. I have a benign enlarged prostate, no cancer worries which is good.
While I decided if I wanted to have surgery, doctor put me on Avodart. It did help but I wasn't sure if I wanted to take antibiotics for the rest of my life. Avodart temporary reduces the size of the prostate but if you stop taking it, you will still have the same problem again and it will only get worse.
Decided to have the surgery, I had it three weeks ago. spinal block, stayed in hospital one full day with a catheter inserted. Catheter was removed the following day in the morning, had to urine a few times into a container, followed by a scan machine pressed to my belly to see how much urine was left in the bladder. Passed the test and was allowed to go home that day at midday.
I can see the immediate benefit of the surgery where my urine stream is very strong. When I get up in the morning with a full bladder, no more urine trickle, just a strong urine flow. On the other side, I'm still suffering from post surgery effects, for example, frequent urges to go to the toilet and pee ( I probably go every 40 to 60 minutes) blood on the urine and pain (burning/stinging) every time I have to take a piss. The doctor says is normal for this symptoms to happen and it will take weeks before everything is back to normal. how long? it depends on the individual. I can get an erection, it feels a bit different and I will suffer from retro ejaculation ( I was warned about this)
Anyone that had Turp done, how long it took until you were pain free? (no blood and pain) Did you take any medicine to stop the pain or the bleeding?
I am told that I need TURP for my enlarged prostate problem . could anyone recommend a good Urologist in Dallas Metroplex area who has good experience in this procedure

Urologist has said I need TURP doing again and has placed me on waiting list. I have great difficulty peeing, doesn't completely void and dribbles when I put it away. Surgeon has offered to put a Foley Catheter in while I am awaiting surgery but as far as I can remember the Foley was only used following surgery. Should I agree to having this catheter inserted to relieve symptoms while I'm waiting?
Had a Turp almost 6 years ago. It's a feeling of being raped and you don't know it's happening until after it happens. It happens so fast to you and then it's done. How do men cope with it that have had it done in their late 50's or early 60's? Also can Prostatitis issues bring men into having turps done even though they have urinary issue? In my case I had bladder stones, a prominent middle lobe was discovered during the Turp and my urine flow rate was only 3.2 cc/ sec. Still I had feeling of a" golf ball " which brought me to a decision to have the Turp done. Anyone with similar experiences?

I've had issues with my prostate over the past 2 years. Last October it was 3.9 cm x 4.9 cm. An now its measured at 5.9 cm x 5.7 cm during the past year I've noticed I was getting 5-8 times a night and during the having to rush to the restroom with no time spare, in the past 4 months I've had to force my urine out. Called doc he ordered urodynamics test, it showed that my bladder has no reaction when I'm full of urine. Doc said MY prostate is so large it's shutting off my urethra tube. So he said I need the TURP surgery. .
I'm so unsure about this because I've had penile implant surgery this past Jan. and if I have the TURP I'll lose my ejaculation...
I also would like to know how to do all with not being able to cum?
When i go pee i find everything is fine, i pull foreskin back to avoid urine getting trapped behind it as i have a long foreskin. Finish off and shake well just to make sure all the pee is out. but about 10 - 15 mins later i dribble a small amount of urine without realising, not enough to empty bladder just a small dribble, but it can be seen on underwear and very occasionally on clothing as a tiny patch. Also as i have a long foreskin it traps urine under it when i do this dribbling causing stale urine by the time i get home from work or being out and about. which as u can imagine is not nice and can smell a bit and cause soreness.
View 1 RepliesHello,I am 61 years old. Six days ago I had a "Green Light" surgery to core out my narrowing prostate. I was catheterization for 24 hours and stayed in hospital. When I tried to urinate the stream was very poor. Initially my bladder was holding over 300mls and it was difficult to pass urine in the day, it was virtually impossible to pass in the night. I went back to the hospital after 3 days and I was then holding 280 mls after urinating. I complained to the consultant (who I trust greatly) and he remeasured the bladder after 5 days an there was 150 mls. The worry is a man will go in urinary retention (very painful) and would need emergency catheterisation. Currently my stream is still very poor. I am upset the treatment has made me worse, but I am hopeful the stream will improve as my Consultant believes it will. I am coping at the moment and will wait. If anyone wishes to follow my progress I am willing to share my experiences.

View 1 RepliesI am a 16 year old girl who for the most part was healthy prior to the start of my digestive problems. I am 5"3 and have never weighed over 99 lbs but my weight has now dropped to below 94 lbs due to inability to eat without pain and nausea. Around August 2011, I started having moderate-severe nausea and abdominal pain following most/all meals, which over time progressed to be nearly constant pain and nausea that made eating nearly unbearable. Starting in early March, I had multiple blood tests, an ultrasound, a HIDA scan, and an upper endoscopy. The only explanation offered to my mother (a doctor) and myself was that my gallbladder was hyperactive and excreted bile way too quickly, with an ejection fraction of 89%. Normal ejection fractions are considered to be roughly between 30-75%, but high ejection fractions are a gray area in the medical world at the moment, as most bad gallbladders have a low ejection fraction. All the children's surgeons refused to take out my gallbladder for this reason, but with it being our only hope we searched for a surgeon willing to take the chance. We were luckily able to find a surgeon with some knowledge of hyperactive gallbladders who removed my gallbladder in early May. My surgery went well and there were no complications immediately following. I did not have constant diarrhea following my procedure and my pain and nausea were alleviated until approximately early-mid June. I began having moderate nausea and pain again following nearly all foods and some drinks such as slushies or shakes. It increasingly worsened but has not yet reached the constant pain/nausea i was experiencing pre-surgery. I also had approximately 3-5 bouts that lasted about 10-20 minutes of extreme nearly unbearable pain, usually in my left abdomen just below the ribs approximately 20-30 minutes after I had eaten. Each time brought me to the floor and to tears. I visited the GI doctor again July 5 and was told their best explanation was Functional Dyspepsia and that I should begin taking 30g Amitriptyline each night. I was told results should appear approximately 3 weeks after I start regular dosage, which I did on July 5. I have seen some improvement in my pain and nausea as they do not necessarily occur after every single time I eat anymore, but they are still way too frequent and persistent for me to feel normal, much less function normally. Over the past week or so, my stools have been a bright green color and my urine has been clear for the most part. There seems to be no connection between my symptoms and my hormones as they do not worsen or alleviate with my menstrual cycle. I am sick and tired of being so sick and tired as my symptoms have majorly impacted my life and prevented me from participating in many things as they caused me to miss over 40 days of school just since January 2012. Please please please offer any ideas or thoughts you might have, i truly am desperate.

On a doctor's visit back in December, it was discovered that i had microscopic blood in my urine. This went on for a few months, and increased with every doctor's check up. A urologist did an ultrasound of the kidney/bladder back in February, and all was normal. He also did cystoscopy which was normal too. He also did a test which shows my bladder holds sufficient amount of urine. The problem is, we never really figured out what the cause was, and recently i have had a new symptom (mucus tissue looking things in my urine). I am considering going back to a different urologist, but has anyone experienced something similar, or know what tissue looking bits in urine is?
View 4 RepliesTest show that I have a enlarged kidney, I have protien in my urine, severe back pain to the right side, strong smelly urine, blood pressure very high now on 10mg blood pressure tablets, Doctors have done tests on my kidneys and say the test shows the kidneys are functioning normally so I have not to go back to hospital for six months.
View 3 RepliesI'm a 26 yr old male, I've been peeing cloudy for months now, not every time I pee, usually just once a day, and the rest seem normal. Lately it seems like it's more cloudy than before. Also at night i have to get up alot to pee, but its usually just a few drops each time. Just recently two things happened, on two different occasions. First, I was peeing and it seemed to be normal color, but at the last end it turned white/cloudy and right at the last drop or two it looked like white flaky particles in it. Since then I've been noticing the particles more often. Second thing, almost two weeks after noticing the particles I was peeing one night and it seemed to burn quite bad at the last few drops, and when I was done it didn't feel like a finished, felt like I still had more. I went to outpatients the other night, did a urine sample and the test come back negative for UTI, so they sent it to a lab, next morning they did blood work and another urine sample. Waiting for the results now. Dr thinks it could be a prostate infection (prostatitis) caused from chlamydia so he put me on Ciprofloxacin. I dont think its from chlamydia because the two girls I've had unprotected sex with both been tested recently and come back clean. He also said its possible it could be stones.

Have large amount of blood (4+) ..Urologist sent my for a ct ivp to look for stones or look for something abnormal with ureters or kidney, nothing ..everything came back normal..now the urologist ordered a test to look at the bladder with scope through my urethra and also take a biopsy of bladder wall to look for cancer cells..owww. Any answers on what this can be I have all the symptoms of bladder cancer but im young and no family history of bladder cancer im a non smoker /alcohol drinker.

June-21-2014 I took ANTI HIV 1&2 (ELISA) test in DDC LAL pathlab.
observed value 0.20(range1.0 Non-reactive)
June-26-2014 I tested for all STD's(result-non reactive)
July-10-2014 I tested again for ANTI HIV 1&2(ELISA)
observed value:0.22(Range1.0 Reactive).
AUG-05-2014 I tested again for ANTI HIV 1&2(ELISA)
observed value:0.10(Range1.0 Reactive).
Even Though my 205th day HIV test after exposure is non-reactive, i am still suffering from frequent fatigue,tiredness and IBD.
what are these observed values? does these observed value represents that i have HIV antibodies in small amount? or the HIV antibodies are not yet produces in my case? if not then why am getting these values? can i trust these test results? do i need further testing?
I have consulted two doctors so far. I couldn't get a clear explanation on my results. They always say like 'You are highly unlikely to get HIV'. due to this i got ANXIETY DISORDER. I have been living in fear for the last 3 months and am totally depressed. So please help me to get a clear idea. I just want live normally.
Normally I have my periods after 36 days. But this month periods comes in 30 days and also small amount of bleeding only comes. I am feeling stomach pain and heavy back pain and leg pain. Is there any chance to pregnancy?
View 1 RepliesI have started on orlistat today. I took one with my breakfast (bran flakes and semi skimmed milk) I went to a buffet this afternoon so didn't take one at lunch time ( I had weight watchers soup). I had a small piece of quiche, some weight watchers crisps and a tomato at the do!
I'm about to take one before my dinner of pasta and veg in chopped tomatoes, followed by low fat yogurt. I have also had a couple of biscuits, I've written it all down and estimate I will have had about 30g of fat. It's made me really look at what fat is in what I am eating as I am worried about the famous side effects.
I read on another site that some recommend just taking the tablets with lunch and dinner until you know what you know what you doing regarding the amount of fat you are consuming - has anyone on here done that?

I am bleeding sizable out of my anus every bowel movement, it's freaking me out. I'm still trying to recover. How should I approach toilet breaks im general? Keep passing stools even as I bleed a considerable amount without a care?
Just a bit of background, I'm currently 18 and male. Since the issue I have right now is more than likely haemorrhoids, I think it's also important for me to say that my granddad died from cancer (specifics which I do not know) but my mum has told me he used to go to the toilet and lose blood to the point of passing out during his battle with cancer.
A few weeks ago, I started to notice small patches of blood on my toilet paper as I wipe, I paid quite little attention to it at first but was absolutely shocked when once, blood started coming out along with the stool. To describe, a line of blood would follow the walls of each stool and blood would drip out from my anus and change the bowl of water into red. The blood is also bright red. There was a slight sting as the stools moved.
I approached my mum who's a trained pharmacist and she diagnosed me with having internal haemorrhoids since there weren't any physical bumps along my sphincter muscles and decided to put me on a good diet. I'm now having quite alot of vegetables and eating a good 8 or so nutritional tablets such as omega oil as an example.
But the problem still persists and I'm still seeing blood. literally in the way I've just described, the problem hasn't returned to its previous condition of just a patches on tissue.
I am absolutely frightened to even use the toilet and it's getting to the point thinking about it makes my heart race and my knees weak. Imagine going to the toilet itself. It's bothering me both physically and mentally. To make things worse, I have my high school finals in just about a week from now!
How do I go about this problem right now? Should I just keep passing stools even when I see blood coming out at a sizable amount?
I had unprotected sex December 5th & 6th, and according to a few period apps I'm about 2 days late - but Friday when my period would be expected I had some blood, enough to just wear one tampon a day and then Saturday and Sunday only a very small amount of bright red blood. I'm not sure if that sounds like spotting or my period, or if that's a sign of pregnancy? I'm not on birth control, a few days before my period was supposed to come I did start an antibiotic and a probiotic for strep throat.
