Viral Infections :: Severe Cough With Feelings Want To Vomit

I've been suffering this type of cough for a month. I've got doctor medication, but seemed like not very helpful. When I cough after eating, I always feel like want to vomit. That feels totally horrible. The first week when I started to show a cough symptoms, I don't mind it that much as I think it's a seasonal flu. But after a while, it doesn't seem to get away. Is there any clue of what might had invade my body, maybe some kind of virus, or even parasit? Also, I had a bronchitis when I was 17. I am 20 now.

Viral Infections :: On And Off Fever With Sore Throat

I have seasonal allergies, although, this may not be that case, because this year I have not had allergies.

I have had a BAD sore throat, and it really tends to hurt when I swallow. I've taken cough drops, honey, salt water rinses, tylenol and ibuprofen, and even gargled my prescription Lidocaine for numbing, and none of its working. I can't post a picture because I don't know how right now, but my throat is red, but no pus spots, no swollen tonsils, or anything else seems wrong. My sore throat has been accompanied by a fever that comes and goes, and a headache that lasts and day and goes, then comes back, and goes again. Is there anything I can take for what is going on, and can you tell me what I might have?

Viral Infections :: Sore Throat (feels Like Something Stuck In There)

I've had a sore throat today that mildly hurts, and feels like somethings stuck in my throat. Looking at it it has red and white bumps in the back of my throat, my tonsils are swollen and look raw? There bright blood red patches along with white stringy spots, it doesn't look like strep, but I have occasionally through the years have had random moments when my throat swells up, I also get sore throats a lot the last couple of months. Anyone know what it is?

Viral Infections :: Recurring Sore Throat And Fatigue

I'm really worried. I'm an 18 year old male. I'm studying for my final exams and I'm having some serious problems with my health.

I got a strep throat in October. It was treated with antibiotics and it passed and I was severely ill. In December I had appendicitis and they were removed. I then had 3 sore throat and serious fatigue episodes in January March and right now. At the moment my tonsils are inflamed and I'm seriously fatigued and feel run down. I'm waiting on my results of blood tests. My recent esr test was 70mm/ph. I'm getting the rest of the results Wednesday.

Has anyone had problems like this before ? I'm really worried and I have my finals in a few weeks.

Viral Infections :: Fever Broke And I Woke Up Sweating With A Red Rash

Last night I started getting a cold, so I took a shower and went to bed. On the middle of the night my fever broke and I woke up sweating really badly. Well I noticed an itchy sensation by my pubic area and when I looked I had a red rash all on my pubic area up to parts of the hair on my stomach. I even have a small rash on my thigh. It looks like it's only where hair is at. It is like bright red and it feels like it might have something in it, like you can feel the rash. I was hoping you could give me an idea of what it is?

Viral Infections :: Fever, Suddenly Nauseated And Puking Bile

I've had a sore throat, and an on and off fever for four days.

At one point it got to 102 degrees, but I took fever reducer and a cold bath, and it quickly went away.

And while my fever has come back several times, it hasn't gone over 100.8 since.

So far I hadn't had any stomach pain and never felt dizzy or nauseated, until suddenly just now after eating some tomato soup, I got light headed and puked like a quart of bile, but not my food.

Now My ears burn and they trickled a little bit of clear sticky liquid [pretty sure it was bile], and everything looks a little blurry because my eyes won't stop watering.

I'm pretty sure my fever's gone, but I can't balance well enough to make my way to the thermometer to check for certain.

Viral Infections :: Tired, Cold, And Headache Several Times A Year, Lasts Days

I sometimes and very suddenly become very tired(unable to sit), cold back, and headache. These symptoms would appear 3 to 4 times a year and last 10 to 11 days and then disappear as quickly as they came. Last year or so they came more often but most of time last only 4 to 5 hours. Blood test reveals nothing.

I might add I have 3 to 4 sinus infections a year and have yellow nail syndrome.

Bowel Disorders :: Severe Diarrhea And Vomiting

For the past 10 years I have had severe digestive issues. If I eat more than twice a day I will spend the majority of my day in the bathroom so I avoid eating especially during work hours. I also have a hard time drinking a lot of fluids and if I drink too much I end up vomiting? I have heartburn almost daily and ironically water seems to make it burn more than most beverages so I really don't drink near as much as I know I should. I have had several upper and lower scopes, colonoscopies, breath test and worked with nutritionist and they all are baffled and tell me nothing is medically wrong with me? I recently feel like im constantly on the verge of getting charlie horses in my legs, have random blurriness in my eyes and I'm just tired. I am broke out of my mind and quite frankly feel hopeless because even if they did find something I can't afford to treat it? I'm frustrated, scared and exhausted. I have no idea what is left that I can do?

Vomiting And Severe Back Pain - SI Joint?

I've been dealing with pain off and on in my low back wrapping around my hip bone on my left side. I have some burning in the back of my thigh and swelling of my leg.

This pain is excruciating when it comes on...sometimes it is manageable with meds and heat and other times I've landed in the ER with full on episodes of vomiting and pain off the charts.

I have had ovarian cysts and have been checked for those, negative. No kidney stones or masses showing in an abdominal CT. I did have SI Joint damage after an MVA years ago.

Is this possible this is SI joint pain? I was on long acting pain meds for years, only recently off them and that's when I've noticed an increase in pain. Perhaps the meds were masking the issue?

Gilberts Syndrome :: Severe Nausau And Vomiting During Exercise

I was diagnosed with GS about 15yrs ago when I was playing high school football. Got to noticing during wind sprints at practice I'd lose energy and get very sick to my stomach. So much so that I would throw up. This went on for weeks until my coach advised me to get a check up. After weeks of blood tests the Dr. diagnosed me with GS.

Now at 31yrs old if the outside temp is higher than about 75 or 80 and I'm doing some type of strenuous activity for a long period of time I'll get sick. I also race dirt bikes off road, its very common for me to throw up several times after a race if its warm/hot outside and/or I get extremely tired. The nausea is the worst pain I've ever had by far, almost to the point of blacking out. Once I throw up the pain will stop for 20mins or so then comes back until I throw up again. Most times I will throw up three times before the pain will go away. Also either during or after the vomiting I'll have diarrhea once or twice. I'm hoping by coming on here I can find something to help me.  Like others on here I have night sweats from time to time also.

Viral Infections :: Cough Syrup Suppresses The Cough?

I am at the end of a cold (2 weeks)and I have a bad chesty cough. I'm up in the night like a cat with a furball.

I saw my doctor who advised to use honey and lemonade, and Vicks vapour rub, but said to stop using the covonia chesty cough syrup, as it suppresses the cough.

Is that correct ? I always believe it contained ingredients to help break down the congestion.

Herpes :: Initial Episode

I have most of the symptoms except flu and headaches, I'm on medication but just waiting for test results. I was just wondering how long does it take for the blisters to appear then turn into ulcers, then the time frame until they pop, and scab over?? So I have a rough idea if what is happening down there is normal or should I see a dr again.

Is salt baths, keeping it dry and weeing in water the only remedies to help?

I also have a white liquid discharge that likes to come out of my vagina is this normal?

Can you still have oral sex because I've read you don't really know when you're shedding?

And it can only be transferred skin to skin or if someone touches used underwear or damp towel?

Supraventricular Tachycardia :: Ablation After Just One Episode Of SVT?

Hi, my eleven year old son has been diagnosed with SVT. He has had one attack, over a month ago, that lasted over an hour and resulted in a trip to the ER. We were referred to a cardiologist who recommends ablation. I am worried about the risks of the procedure versus the risks of just waiting it out, seeing how frequent and/or severe his attacks become.

Gout First Episode - Apply Heat, Cold Or Both?

I've had this nasty gout episode for four days now and I am reading conflicting information, perhaps a few of you with some experience can help. First, is it better to apply heat, cold or both? Second, will walking around and staying active even through the pain make it worse, better or stay the same? Third, is there any prescription out there that works without any nasty side effects? And lastly, knowing that I have gout, is it really necessary to see a doctor?

Heart :: First Episode Of Atrial Fibrillation - Overmedicated?

I'm a 51 y.o. female. I had my first (and hopefully only) episode of atrial fibrillation 2 1/2 days ago, very early Monday morning. I had my husband take me to the ER where I was diagnosed, then admitted for treatment. I was given calcium channel blockers, and I converted back to sinus rhythm about 3 hours later. I was also given a shot of a blood thinner. Upon discharge, I was given prescriptions for baby aspirin (81 mg 1x day), and 50 mg metoprolol (a beta blocker) 2x day and told that I would probably be on the meds for 3+ months at least.

Before I continue, here is some more about my overall condition. I am generally in v. good health. I am 5' 6" and weigh 116 lbs. I do not smoke, or drink alcohol or consume caffeine in any form. At a minimum, I walk briskly for about 1 hour a day; but I also add between 10-30 minutes of more intense aerobic exercise 3x a week. I have a low stress lifestyle -- retired early, no financial concerns, great marriage, lots of friends, love my life.

My blood pressure when tested in the ER was 117/70; all the tests came back normal. Lipids: Cholesterol 143; HDL 57; LDL 76. Thyroid -- on the high side of normal, but still w/i normal range.

My pulse rate (with the beta blockers) is currently 68 and my blood pressure is 100/70.

Anyway, about 3 weeks ago, I suffered sudden sensorineural hearing loss in one ear and was put on an 18 day high dose, tapering course of Prednisone. My attack of atrial fibrillation occurred about 3 hours after what would have been my next dose of Prednisone, but wasn't because I had finished the course. So, in my mind, it is highly likely that this attack was precipitated by Prednisone withdrawal. Too much of a coincidence otherwise, no? My cardiologist agreed that it was likely, but still thought I should be on beta blockers at least medium term.

But here's the thing. I am just not doing well on the beta blockers. I feel like sh*t. I actually feel worse than when I was in a fib. I am so tired and I cannot focus on anything. I feel basically like a nonfunctional zombie. How on earth can I live like this for 3 months? Why should I?

I realize you shouldn't just stop beta blockers cold turkey. But I am going to see the cardiologist on Friday and I am just going to beg him to help me get off them and not put me on anymore more meds at all (except maybe the baby aspirin I can deal with).

Does this make sense to those who know about a fib? Yes, if I keep having episodes, it makes sense to help get medication for them. But for crying out loud, I just had one episode in usual circumstances. Couldn't I just wait and see if I have more so I don't have to spend 3 months as a vegetable?
