When I turn the key over to start the vehicle, the clock resets to 1:00, the back latch clicks and the car kind of makes a grinding sound but not like a churn as if it wanted to start. I don't know if it is just a dying battery or if it would be something else but my car will not start at all.

View 2 RepliesI have a 98 chevy blazer that the dash lights and interment cluster (including odometer) only works at night when u turn on the headlights by the switch. And the truck starts sometimes. I placed a piece of tape over the sensor on the dash for the auto lights( this made the dash, interment, odometer work) but now truck will not start. I've been told its the ignition switch.

I removed the starter and turned the key and can see the starter popping out and spinning, but when I put it back into the flywheel all I get is clicking noise(like if the battery is dead) I had it on jumper cables so I don't think its the battery?

This problem gets worse as the truck warms up. It feels as if I'm not getting power from all 6 cylinders but this goes away after about 20 feet of acceleration. The truck has never not started. It just has to turn over for about 5 to 10 seconds before it fires up. I changed the spark plugs and wires thinking it was that and then i tried the fuel filter and it wasn't that either.
The entire cooling system has been overhauled; including heater core replaced 3 times, new radiator, new theromostat 2 times, new water pump, new radiator hose. Truck continues to overheat into the red quickly with or without a/c on.

Okay I am having a problem with my A/C in my Blazer I've had my compressor replaced finally got all of my leaks fixed and replaced all the visible vacuum hoses and still without by passing my heater core I have no Air Conditioning. It just keeps blowing out hot air. Why my Air Conditioner is working. I really like my blazer but after having invested a little over 600.00 into just getting the A/C up and going with no luck is just getting frustrating. I am considering selling it and getting a truck. I would like to keep it if I can get the A/C up and going but I don't want to have to invest a whole lot more money into it.

View 1 RepliesFor about two weeks, my Blazer would crank but not start on the first turn of the key. After a couple of tries it would start and as long as the engine was not off for more than a few hours, it would start again with no problem. While driving however, the engine would periodically "hitch" like it was missing a spark, or not getting any gas. As of last weekend, the engine will not catch at all, and a light on the dash shows "low fuel" even though the tank is almost full.
Spoke to a mechanic who (without looking at it) diagnosed a fuel pump problem at a cost of around $1,000. Is there any other problem which may cause this issue? I have very limited mechanical ability, and cannot pull the spark plugs to test them, as they seem to be buried in the lower half of the engine block.
My 1992 chevy k1500 blazer full size is having trouble shifting from 1st and 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. I reset the linkage it did fine for a day and now it's doing the same thing but it almost goes into neutral while shifting into some gears. And seems to lack power, the 92 doesn't have cyanoids and the transmission was redone 2 years ago when I got the truck. Could this have anything to do with the fuel filter? I know the transmission isn't bad. The Rpms are shooting up way too high.

Working on his 1999 Blazer that he just bought, it has an electrical problem.....the gauges are inop, and the engine wont shut down and the 4X4 wont engage unless the headlight switch is turned on and in some instances the high beams must be on. We have replaced the high beam multi switch, the headlight switch and the ignition module. We suspect that it might be a bad ground or the interior light module.
We just replaced the engine the other day but the problem existed prior to the motor swap.

View 4 RepliesI recently moved to a place in the Caribbean that has very steep paved & unpaved roads, lots of potholes. I have a 2002 Chevy blazer, has 4wd, hi & low (not automatic 4wd). What is the best way to drive these roads? Someone told me its ok to leave the truck in 4wd when on "the country" roads even though they are paved but the Chevy manual says not to do this. I have been putting it in second to go down the hills. Still figuring out up hill. I'm not used to driving this terrain and want to learn it right.
View 5 RepliesGot done with replacing head gaskets and intake gaskets, Van started fine and I backed it out of the garage. Left it running and put down ramps and drove up on them so I could get under and connect the exhaust. Got that done and then got back in it and all it will do is crank and it will not start now. It also has a new cam shaft sensor( wire broke on old one). I can hear the fuel pump when I turn the key. It is like now there is no fire to start it. What could be wrong? What do I check? What causes it to fire? If something was connected wrong, would it have still started and then wont do anything but crank? Got dark on me and started raining so I say tomorrow is another day. I feel it is something simple.
View 4 RepliesAfter replacing the lower intake manifold gasket, along with the plenum and valve cover gaskets, I've discovered my AC isn't cooling at all. During the above repair I unbolted the compressor and set it on the passenger side out of the way. Checked the low side pressure and had no pressure. Thought I might have loosened something and caused a leak. Hooked my gauges and vacuum pump up and vacuumed for about an hour pulling 29in. Hg. Turned off and after three hours the needle had barely moved. Decided I'd add some R134A until I got enough in to activate the clutch on compressor, read gauges and try to see where I was with it.
Initially I had readings of 100 on low side and only 50 on high side. I'd added about 2/3 of can of refrigerant and my clutch had activated the compressor. Turned off and checked the electrical connection to compressor which appeared okay. Honestly I didn't know what to do next. Fired up the engine again and still had the crazy reading when the compressor clutch kicked in. Actually it was doing what I think is called, "Short Cycling," on and off every five seconds or so. When the compressor was running the gauges would show fifty psi on low side and a hundred on high side. Also the sight glass on my gauges was filled with oil. I'd planned to put some dye in the system to show any leaks I might have, but with the way things were going I didn't get to it. This experience has shown me I've got a lot to learn about auto ac systems!
My 98 Yukon won't turnover. There is power to everything, but when I turn the key nothing happens. What's wrong?

The truck runs fine (except for the water pump I just blew) this is a tranny solenoid code. but my tranny seems to be shifting ok..
Is the solenoid easy and cheap enough to replace myself? I am trying to make up my mind if its time to start thinking of trading this blazer in on something with less miles or to fix it up and keep on trucking..
I am a laid off mechanic doing some side work. I friend of mine has a 98 blazer that will not start in damp weather. Here's the kicker, it has spark to the plugs. New cap, rotor, pick up coil, and wires. Fuel pressure is around 60psi. I think it might be in the fuel injection. I drove the SUV into my garage, While the engine was running I watered the distributer down along with the wires. It ran fine. I shut it down and tried to start it a few minutes later with no luck. I took the distributer apart to inspect it for water and found nothing. I reassembled it and still had a no start situation.

When car warms up really good car shifts find out of first gear but 4th gear still shifts hard. I did change transmission fluid and new filter in it and I check fluid level and it's full.
