My 20th Gti is shaking. So when I accelerate to about 80mph and then let off the gas it the front end will start shaking and once I tap on the gas a little it will stop. Why is it doing this and what is it that has gone bad?

View 6 RepliesA couple months ago i posted that i had some choppy acceleration. I didn't do anything about it because I was looking for my vag-com cable but couldn't find it. well, i still haven't found it but my problem is getting worse. I have an older version of vag-com 303 and i think that it only supports serial.
Let me also describe my problem and what i have done so far to try and remedy it: basically, when i start to accel from a stop it doesn't accel smooth and feels like it is about to go limp and then all of a sudden i get this burst of accel. it is much more noticeable when accel from a stop but it is also noticeable when pressing the throttle, just does not accel smooth and once in a while, i get this sudden burst of power. And the car has gone into some kind of limp mode twice so far.
Once with my wife and just the other day when i was on the freeway, i lost all power and the EPC light came on and the ESP round arrow thingy. i pulled over, shut off the car and 30 sec later i was able to start driving again and all the lights went out, but of course, choppy accel still persists. the other day when i was accel i heard a POW from underneath. and my wife tells me she has heard it once before. when i remove the cable from the MAF everything goes back to normal. i cleaned the existing MAF, and when that did not work i replaced the MAF and still the same problem.
I don't think I am in the right forum but I don't know where to post it. I have a 20th and when the car idles it shakes a little but when I take off the car rumbles alot the only way not to make it rumble is rev it to 1500rpm what can it be causing this?? I have a catback tt exhaust can it cause it to do it?
View 1 RepliesI am currently running 8mm ECS spacers in the front and 17.5mm ECS spacers in the rear. My Summer set up is still stock BBS RC's, but my winter wheels are Lenso's.
Last winter was my first winter running with the Lenso's and had no issues. This past weekend I swapped out the BBS's for the Lenso's, and now I am feeling vibration above 60MPH. I felt no vibration with the BBS's. I just took them in to get balanced (maybe a weight fell off-idk), and they were within 1/4 of 100% balanced. They then thought it may be the spacers I'm running so they cleaned them up, but said that it didn't work.
My alignment is also spot on-so that's not an issue either. I am at a loss as to what would make me feel that vibration after just changing out the wheels.
My 1.8t gli is giving me this issue, when braking (specially hard) my steering wheel shakes side to side, my rotors got changed less than 20,000 miles ago (all of them) and they seem fine right now.
Could this be my Tie Rod ends? The car has 110,000 miles on it, and i know some bushings if not all need to be changed, which I am gonna be installing when i put on the Raxles i just got.
I have a 2003 20th anniversary edition GTI. Yesterday I noticed my car started shaking when I was driving on the highway. The only thing I can think of that I did was run into a snow bank during the snowstorm. What is causing my car to shake?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 gli and there r no lights an no codes but when I am driving the car shakes a little almost if the motor was bogging down a little. its nothing to major just a slight back and forth movement. I cant seem to figure out the problem it seems to go away during acceleration. Also one other thing is it seems to do it worse when its warmer!
View 1 RepliesI have a 05 gli w/ 65k miles. I got new plugs gaped correctly and new coils. When I'm idling at 7-800rpm my steering wheel shakes a little and when I flip on the ac it's even more noticeable. So much the rear view mirror shakes just a tad. What do yall think it could be cause it's not that bad but I'm anal about my cars and I want it to be perfect.
View 11 RepliesThis started recently and it's definitely out of the norm... When I activate my signal and it switches off, i still hear the ticking but no lights are flashing. it'll go on for about a few sec then shut off, sometimes comes on even when i didn't activate my blinkers. Also when i start my car i feel a vibration from under my feet. Sounds like a knocking noise when i accelerate/turn. But then goes away after about 20 seconds of driving.
View 13 RepliesSometimes while driving if i accelerate the car fully the rpms will accelerate way to fast (at least 2x faster than usual) without picking up much speed at all. I can tell that the car is not going to full boost. The problem is the worst in 5th and 6th gear (when the car is relying more on boost im guessing?) and will happen one day and be perfectly fine the next. I just had the car checked for a boost leak about 3 weeks ago so i dont think its that. The car is chipped with uni stage 1+ (20psi) and has a full 3 inch turboback.

That was almost a week ago, today I went back to the same place to get a short shifter, I told them the problem while I was there and they said it was my coil packages. I replaced all 4 and im still having the same problem...
View 2 RepliesMy friends car just messed up. at a stop sign he heard clanking. then he put it in first to accelerate and the car wouldn't move just rev the rpms like if your on neutral but he can hear clanking around the gearbox or so. what can it be? i told him it cant be his entire tranny or his clutch that something must have came lose. what could it be?

Every time i accelerate, turn it on or rev it up it sounds like a turbo diesel truck! I have no clue what it could be..
New wheels installed! They look great, but I have some shaking when I accelerate from 60 to say 90 mph! The hub centric rings are in place! Also before I installed the new wheels I hit a big pot hole and a had some low to medium howling noise coming from the front end! The hollowing is still present with the new wheels but I also have the shaking now!

In addition, my engine is louder than most of other Camries out there. I heard that adjusting the throttle cable should work. However, I can seem to find the cables.

No matter what speed I'm already at.I recently had both CV axles replaced. Transmission fluid doesn't have any flaky stuff or anything, it's pink though. The check engine light is always on, but it starts to blink when it starts to shake between 2-3 gear.
It's been doing this for about two weeks, nothing has changed, average 15 miles a day. No weird smells from the engine, leaking radiator fluid super slowly (was told to just keep filling it)To start the car I have to press the gas slightly.That's everything I know is wrong with it. I just want the shaking to stop. Does it sound like I need new transmission fluid or something?
I have a Chrysler 300m 2004, 3.5. I have done a replacement of the timing belt at 100 000 mark with a chrysler dealer.
It has been misfiring for a while since. I brought it to a dealer who told me that the camshaft crankshaft and oxygen sensors need to be changed. So I did. (camshaft and crankshaft were changed with the dealer. Oxygen sensor was changed with independent with generic not factory sensor because the dealer did not have it.)
It did not solve the problem. Now the car is shaking and sometimes cannot accelerate. I even change spark plugs and battery. I brought it to an independent, the mechanic told me that there is 3.8 degrees difference between cam and crankshaft sensors. They are out of sync and suggest that I should bring back to the dealer who replaced the timing belt.
When I brought the car to the dealer, they told me that chrysler 300m 2004 tolerates up to 12 degrees difference so the cam and crankshaft are not out of sync. Nothing to do with the timing belt that they installed. I called the independent mechanic but he told me that in general it's 1 to 1.6 degree.
2007 Rabbit shakes quite hard when i accelerate mainly on any type of incline and only between 35-60 mph. When i take it to the shop they cant find a problem.
