Golf/GTI VII :: 2016 - Buzzing Noise When Fan Is Turned On

Jan 2, 2016

I am just over a week and 500 miles into owning my gti, and so far it has been overwhelmingly positive. That being said, I have had a couple of minor issues. Today I went for a drive and at some point I turned the stereo volume off and noticed a buzzing noise. After playing around with things I was able to determine the buzzing was happening only when the fan was turned on. It was there at all speeds and got a little louder with each fan speed increase. It's not really that loud, but the fan in my Matrix had no noise except the woosh of the air. Just curious if maybe it is a difference that is common in the gti? I don't want to go rushing to the dealer unless it's something that really needs to be looked at

Prius (2004-09) :: Buzzing Noise From Under The Hood When AC First Turned On

On our 2008 (26,000 miles), I've started to notice a "buzzing" noise (best way to describe it) from under the hood when the air conditioner is first turned on. Never noticed it before, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.

If I drive the car with the ac on, then park the car for 30 minutes or so, it seems to not occur when restarting the car and the ac. A little vague, I know. Sound normal to you?

Golf/GTI VI :: Buzzing Noise Coming From Engine Bay

2012 gti, manual, 7k miles.

I've got this tinny buzzing noise coming From the engine bay that only happens between 2800 and 3k rpm. I hear it whenever I'm cruising on the highway and shifting through gears. Also if I have the windows down you can hear it outside the car.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Hissing / Buzzing Noise At Certain Speeds

2002 Jetta 2.0 4-speed auto - 151,xxx miles.

Symptom: when driving, occasionally there is what I can only describe as a fairly loud (but not overwhelming - radio easily drowns it out) hissing+buzzing noise. It's a bit like listening to a small plastic gear grind at a very high speed with a bit of a hissing as a backdrop. It only happens occasionally, and I haven't identified any glaring rhyme or reason to when it happens.

What I can say is I've observed it around shifts on fairly strong acceleration, I've observed it climbing long hills, and I've observed it when cruising ~60mph on the freeway. It SEEMS like it is sensitive to the gas pedal - when I hear it, if I depress the pedal more and accelerate I tend to move beyond it, but if I let the pedal off and decelerate (thinking of the 60 mph freeway case here) I can bring the sound back. And if I continue to decelerate we move past the noise.

So, I can't really tell if it is RPMs, or speed, or engine load, or...

A little about my history with the car: I bought it only 2,000 miles ago, so I can't say much about what is "normal" or has been going on for how long.

A little about the transmission - I know they have a very bad rep. I had the trans fluid changed with the correct type right after purchase. It generally shifts ok. There are occasional delays going from reverse into D, and sometimes shifts on acceleration are less elegant than you'd hope, but it seems to generally function as a 4-speed transmission ought to.

This noise is something failing, and given that seems to relate in some way to speeds/loads/possibly shifts I hope this isn't a sign the transmission is going to suddenly give out.

Golf V R32 :: Electronic Buzzing Noise While Driving At Various Times

Situation: In recent months I have noticed a new noise in my R. The noise only appeared while driving at various times which lead me to believe it was from local cell towers that I passed during my commute, or when exceeding approximately 55 mph. The noise has since increased in frequency and happens at various speeds. I cannot determine what triggers it or what component it is from.

A local friend of mine just purchased an R32 and he is now noticing the same noise in his car. It is in both of our cars and happens when exceding 40mph. We do not know if it is a model specific issue or caused by a local environmental source (radio, cellular, military).

Description: Electrical buzzing noise. Resembles the sound of when you used to have a cellphone close to a stereo/pc speaker. The noise comes from the dash cluster area. It can be from a spontaneous periodic chirp to a constant pulsing buzz. Very faint, but very annoying.

The sound makes me assume there is electrical interference with the dash warning chime or something to that effect. I even considered the PMS getting/causing radio interference. My friends R32 has a normal TPMS, but my TPMS has been disabled.

Additional info:
Both cars are stock except for the addition of Hockeypucks.
Car 1: MFD2 w/ active Satellite Radio, TPMS Disabled, AT&T Cell Service, Samsung GS2
Car 2: Premium 7 w/ active Satellite Radio, TPMS Enabled, Sprint Cell Service, iPhone

Eliminated variables:
Seat Heaters
Mirror Heaters
Wipers

Example of the noise: 0:06 - 0:13

Some testing has lead me to acknowledge it is a vibration issue derived from road surface. It appears to be in the area of the vin plate, but that has yet to be determined as fact.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2002 V10 - Buzzing Noise On Acceleration

I had a buzzing noise on acceleration so today I cut all the heat shields off the exhaust system and also bent the bottom of the transmission inspection plate toward the front of the motor. It cured the buzzing noise but when I started the truck up there was a new rattle kind of sound, so I looked and found my y pipe is cracked where the passenger side pipe comes down off the manifold and connects to the pipe that goes to the cat converter.

I don't want to get a whole new y pipe could I order the spd Y pipe and that should work out right? it should be cheaper than a whole new y pipe aswell. I filled up the crack (it cracked 360) with weld but it was tissue paper so I would like to fix it before winter. I also still need to do my passenger side manifold studs and weld a new muffler because I found the rear half of mine is rotted off lol so I will probably do this all at one time.

I'm probably just going to pull everything manifolds and back off the truck, I have a feeling theres a bunch of rust sitting in front of the cat or muffler making the new rattling noise. Also in all my years of wrenching I have never figured out an easy way to get the exhaust off those rubber hangers, I always try to spray wd40 in there to get them to slide easy but always end up tearing them while trying to get them off.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2015 F250 6.2 - Buzzing Noise On Shutdown

2 weeks ago, I purchased a 2015 F250 6.2 with 16K miles. Upon bringing her home, I noticed that there is a buzzing noise coming from the engine compartment after I shut down the motor which lasts approximately one minute (give or take). Since the truck is still under factory warranty, I figure I'll take it to the local dealership, but I'm wondering with the 6.2 has had the same issue and what the issue could possibly be.

Golf/GTI VII :: Rear Driver's Side Speaker Making Buzzing Noise?

Yesterday I noticed the rear driver's side speaker buzzing in my GTI S. Is it possible that I already have a blown speaker (I don't usually crank the system)? Maybe it has something to do with the -5 temps? Anyway, should I take it to the dealer or see about getting some aftermarket speakers since the S sound system is pretty mediocre?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Buzzing / Hissing Noise At Certain Speeds / RPMs / Loads

I have a 2002 Jetta GLS 2.0 4-speed automatic, 151,xxx miles... I have only owned it a couple of thousand miles, so I can't offer much on what is "normal"...

The issue I am having is as follows: I sometimes get a strange buzzing/hissing noise that sounds like it is coming from the engine compartment ~45 degrees to my right while driving. It's very hard to describe - the best I can say is it sounds a bit like a little plastic gear is spinning/grinding at high rpms, yielding a buzzing noise, and there is a hissing-like sound as a backdrop.

The sound happens only occasionally (but seems to be happening much more frequently, which is worrisome). I have heard the sound in different driving scenarios, so I can't say "it only happens when...". However, it DOES seem to be sensitive to throttle and driving conditions in some way. I have heard it while a shift is taking place, I have heard it under load on a long incline, and I tend to hear it right around 60mph. Interestingly, in the 60mph example, can make the sound go away by accelerating past 65, or by decelerating down to ~50... it seems like there is some kind of transition taking place at 60 that fosters the sound?

The transmission is generally functional - I had the fluid changed right after buying it (with the correct fluid), and it generally shifts ok. It does have some of the quirky behavior the transmission is known for: occasionally hesitates to go from R to D, sometimes shifts while driving are less subtle than they should be. But I'd say as a whole it operates as a 4-speed transmission would be expected to.

However, since this strange noise is getting worse, and seems to be related to shifts/load/andor speed in some way... I am worried about trans health. What to check? Because it is intermittent, and doesn't exist at idle and rarely appears when going around the block good luck getting a mechanic to observe it...

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 F250 6.0L - Buzzing Noise From Relay Under The Steering Wheel

2004 F250 SuperDuty 6.0L Diesel. The turn signal (left or right), it would make a buzzing noise, so I located the relay under the steering wheel (by putting my hand on it and seeing which one was buzzing) and replaced it, I bought a replacement at Schucks, then the buzzing noise went away, and the clicking noise is back.

But.... I don't see the turn signal lights in the dashboard and the turn lights are not working, I checked, what could be the problem ? I read the owners manual, in the fuse box under the steering wheel, fuze #18 is used for turn lights, but it is not blown.

Golf IV R32 :: Loud Buzzing / Vibration Noise From Front Passenger Side Behind The Dashboard

Background: I brought my R in for service last week because the AC stopped working. I ended up needing the compressor and the fans replaced. I picked my car up and drove it home with no problems. The next day I drove it I started to hear a rather loud buzzing noise that sounded like something was rattling loose from the front passenger side of the car behind the dashboard. It was loud enough to hear over the stereo while driving on the freeway.

Thinking something was wrong with the newly installed fans I brought the car back to the dealership and now they're telling me the fuel pump needs to be replaced. From what I understand, the fuel pump is in the back of the car under the rear seats and attached to the gas tank. I explained to them that I'm a bit confused because the sound is clearly coming from the front of the car but the mechanic there insists what I'm hearing is the fuel pump. Am I crazy or does what they're saying sound reasonable?

I tried looking at a couple YouTube videos that had sound of a VR6 fuel pump gone bad but the sound was nothing like what I was hearing.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - Buzzing Noise Coming From Driver Side Lower Firewall Area?

A months or so ago, after turning off my car I noticed a loud buzzing noise coming from the drivers-side lower firewall area. I cranked the car up and the buzzing stopped immediately. The problem began as intermittent but now within 2 minutes of turning my car the buzzing noise always starts, and runs my battery dead! I have taken my car to 2 local shops that have good reputations and they both began guessing and throwing parts at the problem to no avail my last resort is a dealership but it is 100 miles away and I'm not sure if they would do any better. I feel like this is something simple that an expert should have no problem diagnosing.

I have been searching around the internet and never seem to find someone with the exact same problem - until today!
