I have a question regarding my mk4 jetta. I plan on swapping my tiptronic transmission, which is beginning to fail (at least that's what I'm assuming the really hard upshift is indicating), to a standard manual transmission. The previous owner had it stage1+ tuned.
View 2 RepliesMy transmission has been shifting funny lately in only a couple of the gears. it shifts into drive hard if not warmed up first, and shifts very slow from 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th. I do live in cold weather at the moment and all of these shifting problems go away of are less noticeable once my car has had time to warm up.

01316 - ABS CONTROL MODULE
49-10 No communication- Intermittent
00652 - Gear monitoring
27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
So last night I bought a rather nice low mileage tiptronic jetta for a good price that supposedly needs a new transmission (girl was quoted $5k to fix at a shop). The car starts right up and moves under it's own power...for about 2 minutes. I haven't actually driven the car but moved it forward and reverse a few times in the parking lot last night. Got out to look at something and when I got back in there was zero response from the tranny, any gear. Engine just revs. Seems a bit different than the usual slipping in gear or violent shifts these trannys are known for.

Diving along at 40mph, rpm's jump up so i let off the gas, get back in it and grabs for just a few seconds then acts like its in neutral. i put it in neutral and then back in drive. nothing, so i coast to the side of the road. get a tow back to my work. runs fine cel is on and all of the gears are lit up, as opposed to normally just the one your in lights up on the dash, reverse works normally and pulls well. Whats up with it.
Auto tiptronic, has no forward gears(acts like its in neutral). reverse works fine and pulls ok ...
How can I check level of oil in Tiptronic Transmission.
View 2 RepliesToday when i started driving my car this morning the tiptronic just stopped working....I can shift into the manual column, but when I try to change gears, it just does nothing. I can't even tell if it works intermittently. It shifted up when i was trying to shift down in a few cases. When this would happen, the gear numbers would still pop up on the dash to tell me what gear i was in. Sometimes when I slide it into the manual column, it just remains in "auto mode" if you wil entirely.
The numbers don't pop up on the dash signaling manual mode, and trying to shift does nothing. I even had one moment where it was in "manual mode" when the selector was actually still in the automatic mode. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Sometimes it goes into manual but just wont shift, and sometimes it wont even switch to manual mode. What would cause this? It seems like such an odd problem, I would assume it's electrical...
I have a 99 V6 B5 sedan & the tiptronic function is no longer working but the transmission works fine. When you place the transmission in tiptronic mode the transmission continues to stay in D. Is there a possibility that there is a faulty relay or some electrical malfunction?
View 2 RepliesI just got a 2000 passat wagon with a 1.8t and tiptronic transmission. The questions is when it is cold the transmission has a hard time to start driving. But as soon as it is warm it drives great. It is throwing a check engine code havent checked it yet.
View 9 RepliesHad this thing rebuilt less than 8k by a reputable local trans builder and the reverse started to fail on me told the guy the problem and said everything is "normal". Drove it and the thing started to act up slamed out of OD and the light started to blink. Took it to the guy to get it checked and said most likely the tranny is toast the fluid does smell burnt.
Then he told me that I had two codes and that they were the cause of the tranny to fail, the codes were P1105, P1106 and that the voltage going to the solenoids was low roughly at 8.6 volts... Can the alternators have anything to do with tranny messing up? I took the to be tested and both alt are good I have a constant supply of 14.4 volts from the alternators. Can this be the pcm taking a dump?
Forgot to mention that this is a 2001 f250 platinum Edition 7.3 power stroke.
2001 Accent, 1.5L Automatic with OD, 263,000 km
Transmission goes into Fail Safe Mode but the CEL does not light up and code reader shows no codes. Shifts fine in town,1-2-3-4...4-3-2-1, but on highway when going up inclines (steep), transmission downshifts from Overdrive into 3rd,as i press the accelerator it will downshift into 2nd (as normal), until i reach the top of the incline (3500-4000 rpm) but then as the car levels out on the highway, it will shift back and forth between overdrive and 3rd, (jerky shifting) then finally goes into Fail safe mode, 3000 rpm at 80-90 km/h. Once I shut the car off for a few minutes, the transmission is fine and shifts normally. Fluid levels are good. Why the CEL is not giving code?
My grandma had purchased an almost brand new B6 Passat with the 4-motion VR6 all leather interior with about 8k on the odometer. Recently she has had some problems with it and has asked me what is going on, My dad has an Audi Allroad, my mom has a 01 A4 event and I have a 04 GLI so we know some stuff about the cars but these problems are eluding me and I was going to look for some counseling. First, her front tires are making this horrible sound, she says it sounds like a Mack truck and it gets worse as you go faster. I'm thinking its the tires but why would it be like that only after 8k? The second problem is her transmission, she has had the transmission fail to engage into gear 3 times, where it takes about 2-10 seconds before it engages. Now the car has about 10k on it. [URL]....

View 6 RepliesI have a 02m and I believe my transmission is leaking from this hole. The hole is located right behind the starter. Is there any plug or something that belongs in that hole? It tends to leak more or only when I drive it.
View 4 RepliesOK so my 02m goes into to all gears but when I try to take off it makes a grinding noise and kinda feels like it wants to start hoping. The car set for about 2 weeks and didn't have a problem with this at all. I can also shift the car into gear when started and not push the clutch in.

View 2 RepliesMy Jetta mkiv transmission went into limp mode recently. Took it into shop. They checked it out and they replaced solenoids as well as the TCU. Car still goes into limp mode. It doesn't happen all the time but enough to piss me off. Any thoughts?? Car only has 140000 miles.
View 1 RepliesHaving a problem with water being in the manual transmission oil? I ended up having to drain the oil because 3rd gear started grinding again and it ended up being water in there again. I drained it into a milk jug with the top cut off and let it separate and there was a little over an inch of water in it at the bottom.
Is there possibly a bad deal or something because that seems like way more than a little bit of condensation especially since the oil was changed not too long ago. Also it does not leak anything so I'm not sure where it would be coming from.
I have a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta MKIV with an automatic 4 speed transmission (m01), and the car has only 100,000 kms on it, was always maintained either by myself or at the dealer, and never abused...ever!. Recently, I noticed that the transmission, going from 2nd to 3rd gear (and only 2nd to 3rd gear) will only sometimes hesitate...meaning the engine either revs a little bit (about 100rpm...yes one hundred) right before it changes gear, or if I'm going up-hill and it happens, it struggles to find the gear from 2nd to 3rd. However, this does not happen all the time, in fact, if someone who may not be as informed about cars, drove the car, the may never notice it. I checked with VCDS and no fault codes for transmission, only 2 fault codes from the engine misfiring because I sprayed the engine bay with water a while ago, and water accumulated in the dizzy.
View 24 Replies2002 vw Jetta sportwagon automatic trans, 151k, no previous issue with the transmission like this. the new issue is that the transmission is slipping at 20mph. what I would guess is 2nd to 3rd (3rd-drive)gear, the transmission "slips" and over revs, I take my foot off the gas and it engages.
I have no more issue accelerating after that. it only happens at exactly (on the speedo) 20mph. hopefully it is only a transmission fluid issue.
As a sidenote. my car will periodically lose power when the engine is cold with no rhyme or reason. the car power drops (on a flat or an incline) for about 2sec then back to normal. its been happening for a year or so.
I am not very familiar with transmissions and clutches, hence I just purchased a used transmission for my jetta 1.8t, i was told that i might as well do the clutch while the transmission is getting done. I just purchased the car two years ago and the guy said that he put a vr6 clutch in. so my question is, what exactly will i need to get for both the transmission and clutch replacement. Like I mentioned, I only have bought the transmission so far.
