When I fuel up at fuel throttle the nozzle pops every time at every direction i give the nozzle. I can get it to fill at half speed but sometimes fuel is coming out of the breather tube and circulating back into the filler neck. I took the right rear fender liner out and checked for pinched lines but everything seemed ok.

View 10 RepliesHaving trouble filling car up with gas? Here for the past 2 months its been gradually getting worse. I try to fill the tank full of gas and the nozzle keeps clicking acting like its full. At first it would only click once during the fill up. Now its 5 or 6 times during the fill up.
View 21 RepliesWhen filling up with gas, I can only get a couple gallons put in the tank before the nozzle kicks off from the pump. As I get closer to filling up the tank it kicks off more frequently. The way I equalize the gas tank while filling up so that I can add more gas is to move the gasoline nozzle in and out a couple times and i can see a little bit of gas squirt out while the pressure inside is adjusting.
I don't think anyone was able to put something into my tank to plug it up. There is a little hole directly under where the gas cap screws onto that has a rubber opening, I'm wondering if maybe some dirt got into that and plugged it assuming that hole has something to do with making sure the pressure equalizes, but I don't know.
Having trouble filling gas tank, the pump nozzle keeps cutting off. Have to fill by dribbling the fuel in until filled. What the problem might be?
View 5 RepliesI was filling up my tank, as I was running in fumes a few days ago (just 14 miles before death as per trip computer) and to my surprise, when I filled my tank, it only went roughly up to 16 gallons (15.9xx to be precise) before the nozzle kept shutting off. Was the nozzle defective (or was I in a rush for not waiting until the vapors leave the tank?) or the 18.5 gallon tank has a ~2.5 gallon reserve that even the instrument gauge doesn't account for, as it was all the way in the E with the yellow gas pump icon on?

View 12 RepliesMy CEL came on today, gas level was a little under a quarter tank.
Took it to Advanced on the way home to have them scan it quick, and it threw a fuel pressure regulator code. I stopped in the gas station on the way home and filled it up, and the CEL was gone and hasn't been on since. I'm thinking HPFP, but maybe not? Could it be injectors?
I'm not topping off or overfilling, I pull the nozzle out once the I get the 1st click/cut off whatever from gas pump nozzle once the tank is full and don't put in any extra. It doesn't do this right away (Power loss)... waits until I shut the car off for the day (after a fuel refill) and then the next day I'm driving along and for 20-30 minutes I get random complete loss of power. I don't think it's an ignition issue because it only happens when I fill the tank, but it sure feels like it. It's almost like that bad coil pack feeling. I don't know how else to explain it, just stops accelerating/cruising for a half of a second maybe once every minute or two for about 30 minutes, then it never happens again until i fill the tank.
View 9 RepliesI worked with my buddy troubleshoot and remove a faulty fuel pump. He received it a week or so later and did the install himself. After this, he states that while pumping gas at the gas station the nozzle no longer cuts off automatically when full causing overflow. He says this has happened at different stations and different pumps. I told him to go double check connections and that everything was sealed. I am wondering what could be causing it..
2004 Passat v6 wagon auto
Working on my cousin's 84 F150 351w HO with a Holley 4180 4bbl and auto trans.
I rebuilt the carb because of sticking floats (that and it was filthy and sitting). It fired up and I drove it to my uncle's shop a ways down the road before even adjusting anything. At the shop, it fires right up, idles great and floats and idle mixture screws are now adjusted.
It has a dead spot right off of idle that's been driving me crazy, and stalls in gear if I'm not careful with the pedal.
After reading around here, I looked down the carb to make sure the fuel was squirting as soon as the throttle moved, and noticed there was NO FUEL squirting from the nozzles. So that explains the dead spot...
There was just the needle, then the nozzles, then the screw that went in, same as they came out (only cleaner). Wondering where to go from here to get these working again. Going to pull the nozzles off and see if there's anything obvious going on in there.
Just got a 2000 Accent DL 3 weeks ago. Every time that I try to put gas in it the nozzle clicks off about every 10 seconds. Is this normal for a Hyundai? (this is my first). If not, how to fix the problem?

View 14 RepliesWhen I fill my 2002 VW cabrio, the fuel nozzle keeps clicking off. I took it to the service department at the dealership and the service manager told me that there is no vent tube to clean out, no carbon filter and the sensor for the ORVR is at the inside bottom of the tank and the only POSSIBLE solution would be to replace the gas tank. This doesn't feel right given the other discussions on this board. Could the dealership be misleading me?
View 10 RepliesI have a 2010 hyundai sonata -- I purchased brand new in May2010. I've recently been having an issue with filling up my gas tank -- the nozzle clicks off too early! I live in NJ (so i'm not pumping my own gas), so I usually tell the attendant that it should take roughly $40 worth, and they'll restart it.. but sometimes it clicks off multiple times! It's becoming more and more frequent, also! And, yesterday, I got to the point where I just told the attendant to forget it, because it clicked off 3 times in a row! But, when I started my car, I only had between half and 3/4 of a tank??
I've filled up at multiple stations and have had the same problem consistently. I commute over 100 miles a day to/from work, so I'm filling my tank every 4 or 5 days.. the car currently has a little over 20k miles on it.
I am having trouble fueling my car with gas. Anytime, I try to put gas in the tank, the nozzle stops after seconds of dispensing fuel. Regardless of how fast or slow the fuel is dispensed. Does the evaporative vent system come into play during this process? Or could the problem be an obstruction in the filler hose? Or possibly an anti-spill valve in the tank? we have done a little research online, and these are the questions remaining.

2005 Ford Escape 4 cyl240,000 miles. Every time i fill up the gas tank and then drive for a while, either the next time i start the car or while i'm driving, the engine will begin to misfire, lose power, and eventually stall. It won't start again, or will start but misfire so much that it stalls again. If I wait 20 or 30 minutes or over night, then it will start up and run fine until i fill the tank again a days or so later.

View 1 RepliesI own a 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS with 20k+ miles on it. Purchased it about a week ago & had no issues until about now. About an hour ago, my check engine light came on & air from the driver side right vent started blowing even though the fan is off. What the issue might be? Also, my fuel door constantly pops open by itself. While driving, when I close my doors, and when I close my trunk it always pops open. Is there any way to fix this type of issue?
