My 2010 LS 460 had the Control Arms replaced at 45,196 miles. Now, I am hearing a clicking sound at low speeds when I am turning in either direction. I can hear it with the windows rolled up and the radio on, it is fairly pronounced. The vehicle now has 51,350 miles on it. What this could be?
View 5 RepliesThis weekend I noticed that my 2009 Sante Fe has developed 3 distinctive clicking sounds when I'm driving into a turn. It seems to be coming from the front end of the car.
To expand on this further, if I'm at a complete stop/or a slow roll and I give it gas and turn either left or right, I can get the car to make 3 clicks sounds.
Today, it seems that these clicks are more frequent and louder.
What this could be? Either way, I'm going to schedule an appointment at my dealership.
About 2 months ago i was driving and heard a clicking noise that would increase the faster i drove, i 1st thought it was something in the tire. after checking my right front tire and saw nothing was there for some reason i figured it was the brake.....so my personal mechanic the next day took off the wheel i told me i had to replace the braking kit because one of the pins was rubbing on the rotor, in the mean time he pulled it to try to realign it into place.....after he did that i realized the steering wheel shuddering when braking at highway speeds....figuring since i needed the braking kit that when replaced, this new problem would b solved.....braking kit replaced problem still there....
View 11 RepliesI have a 2010 LS460 AWD with 42k miles and notice when I am making a medium to wide angle turn at parking lot speeds the front wheels make an intermittent metallic clicking/ticking noise that can be clearly heard when the windows are down and stereo is off. The noise can be heard when turning in either direction, driving forward or in reverse, and both accelerating and slowing down. Doesn't seem to happen when I'm turning the steering wheel while the car is stationary. Dealer suspects noise is due to dry contact areas between pads, calipers, and anti rattle springs and wants to perform a brake service for $330 before they're willing to investigate further (car still under warranty till end of the year). If noise is brake-related shouldn't it only occur when I'm applying the brakes? What should I do?
View 7 RepliesSearch of AF did not turn up any results. My 02 Silverado 4x4 Crew Cab 6.0 has begun to make a clicking noise when I am driving at low speed, and making any kind of turn to the right. This is in 2 wheel drive. No noise when driving straight. If I am driving through the neighborhood , (say, 20-25 mph), and the road curves gently to the right, I can hear an occasional/intermittent click noise, which sounds like it is coming from the LF wheel. It might give a single click every half second or so, sometimes 2 or 3 quick clicks, then silent for a second or 2, then a few more. If it is more heavily loaded, such as sharper turn, or more speed while turning, it is significantly worse, (more frequent clicks, almost constant).
Likewise, if I am at low speed, and turning more sharply, (such as a 90* right turn at an intersection, from a stop), it is almost constant repeat clicking until the wheel is straightened out. I am guessing it is possibly a u-joint on the left side half-shaft (or whatever it is called), that connects the transfer case to the LF hub? Almost sounds like needle bearings beginning to fail, is the best way I can think of to describe the sound. Even though I am in 2wd, the hubs do not unlock, so the front axles are always turning.
Hoping it is not front hub bearing going bad. I just got reassigned back to Dallas, and I will be driving the truck 800 miles to get there this weekend. I have maintained the truck very well, with the exception of having never even really looked at the front driveline components. (That ignorance could be haunting me now, or maybe just stuff that has worn out).
I only use the 4 wheel drive about 6-10 times per year, usually only for a mile or so to get to maintained roads. Never in 4x4 on dry roads, I switch back to 2WD as soon as possible.
Ever since I had my Prius in the dealership for the most recent brake recall I noticed a noise (which is hard to describe, something like a muffled clicking) when turning and braking at low speed. If I let my foot off the brake the noise seems to go away. This seems to be happening on both left and right turns.
View 19 RepliesMy 2014 ES350 is making a constant clicking noise from under the dash. Sounds like relay going on and off. When I shut off the air handling system the clicking completely goes away. Car is the Ultra Premium package and has about 13k miles on it.
Also, not sure if related but recently while the car was not running I noticed the car whining from rear wheel area the other night, I went back in the house and got my keys. Tried unlocking and re-locking but finally had to start the car and shut it off again the get the noise to stop. The car had been off for at least an hour or more but it sounded like fuel pump was running all by itself or some other system. I've owned 25 cars and never had that happen before. Otherwise I love this car!
ok I have a 07 civic with 80k, which I bought used, it seems when i turn the wheel more so to the left at slow speeds like parking or pulling out etc I hear a popping and or clicking noise from the front end it doesnt always happen, but happens enough I took it to my dealer to have everthing checked before a rd trip they told me the boots and all are fine but the joins could be binding, but that its safe to drive and doesnt need to be replaced.
View 7 RepliesLexus IS300... The sound is coming from the rear. It appears to be left rear. It comes and goes, but seems to intensify when accelerating and right turns. It's annoying. It's embarrassing. I have taken it to several different shops and nobody seems to be able to figure it out. What it could be?

When I am in the car and the windows down rolling slowly next to a building or something that echos I can hear a clicking that I think is coming from the rear. My salesman is calling me in to test drive a RCF so when I do that I'll have them look at it.
View 8 RepliesSo my lovely wife tells me that something sounds sounds like it is rubbing from underneath the hood of my Lexus. So I take it to the dealership and they tell me it's the the the tensioner for the timing belt needs to be replaced. So I have them replace it and In the process they tell me that it sounds like there is something wrong with the fuel pump but they were able to quiet down though I don't understand how. Anyway after I pick the car up it sounds exactly the same as it did when I left it, personally I don't feel like I should pay for labor on this repair but besides that I don't understand what this issue could be. It sounds like something is rubbing while the car is running.. Lexus 2002 ES300 ..
View 8 RepliesI have a switchback in my driveway, which it pretty steep. I've noticed that when I'm turning right going uphill on that switchback, with some accelerator applied to get up the hill, I get a vibration through the steering column and floor.
Not super-noticeable, but noticeable. I've also tried it on the flat. If I turn the steering wheel maybe a little more than halfway towards the "stop" at the very limit and then accelerate a little bit, the vibration is there too.
I don't think my old land cruiser or my current fj exhibit this vibration. Don't know if it would be originating from the transmission or cv joints. Doesn't seem completely right in an "off-road" designed vehicle.
2007 G6 Problem occurs at slow speed with sharp turning, such as coming out or into the driveway. As the steering rack moves slowly it tends to stick and release 3 or 4 times when turning sharply at very slow speed. It makes a sound so loud even the passenger cam hear it and the driver can feel it in the steering wheel. Does occur while driving normally. The dealer says its a GM problem with no real correction. They greased the rack and said the problem would return soon, but it is not a safety problem. So far they have been right on both counts. Are there any real cures?

I park the car, i turn it off, the steering wheel goes to park position. Then, when i open the door i hear a sound like a electric motor.
My GS 450h did exactly the same. Auto handbrake on or off makes no difference.
I replaced rear pads with akebomo and installed centric premium rotors but in the morning I hear a very loud noise (as loud as as a steam locomotive :-) for the first few times I press on the brake, then the sound goes away. After that, no hissing sound all day until next morning.
I used a brake silencer spray on the back of the pads but to no avail. I had the mechanic lube the pins twice but in vain. Noise went away for 3 days and came back.
I was told to go with OEM pads with shim. I was wondering if this the correct solution and where is the best place to get those OEM pads?
My wife drives a 2013 RX 350 AWD. During this winter, when she turned right (once from a standstill, once without standstill), the car went out of control at a very low speed. The vehicle has around 12000 miles on the odometer. The Lexus dealer could not replicate it. He said it might have been snow on the wheels. I too experienced it once and was very scared to use her car after that.
Here is what happens: Turned right at slow speed, suddenly the car sort of accelerates goes left, right and kind of rocks and then after 15 feet or so steadies itself. My wife has reduced her own usage of the car due to the freight she got twice.
Having this problem on ride, clicking noise when you apply brakes in reverse? ( I had this problem as well on my previous toyota ) it's annoying that I have to hear this sound again. My car is 6 mo old and I just put 5000km so far on my ride, I guess i can let the dealer handle it ?
View 14 RepliesLast night I was driving home and my music was gone. All I hear was the constant chirping sounds and there is NO WAY to turn it off. I ended up pulling out the 30amp fuse under the pass side to turn it off. Sounds like the amplifier failed.
Driving to work ...I noticed the left (driver side) air vents are not following any air.
The two vents on the passenger side are working fine..but not the two on the driver side. Yeah I played with the settings, turned it on/off, Hi/Low air, close/open vents..nothing worked. What's going on with the air vent?
Is there any way I can raise or lower the temperature without turning on the fan speed? For example if I want to raise the temperature from 68 to 72, I literally have to hit the "Lo" speed and then raise the temp.

But today I had my wife drive the car and take some slow left turns while I listened so I could get a better idea about what the sound was and where it was coming from. From inside the garage and in the car, it sounded like it was coming from the rear but I now know it's coming from the front passenger wheel and it is not a "grinding" sound at all, it's more of a tick-tick-tick/click-click-click sound.
Applying brakes doesn't change the frequency or quality of the sound, but speed does. The faster the wheel turns, the frequencly of the ticking increases. It doesn't appear to tick/click only once per revolution, it clicks a number of times throughout the rotation and at some points during the rotation it clicks more often than others. Like, tick.... tick... tickticktick...tick...
When going straight there is no noise, turning right, it sometimes might click once or something but it doesn't really happen turning the other way. I've looked at the dust shield around and even tried bending it back a little bit in case it was making contact when I thought it was more of a grind but nothing looks out of place and nothing has been done to the wheel recently other than putting new rims on a couple of months ago.
Wheel bearing? I thought a bad wheel bearing would make noise no matter what direction you're going and pretty much constantly. CV? I thought CV ticking usually only happens at full lock but it ticks even on not so severe turning. Fender liner doesn't appear to be touching the tire, and the car isn't dropped and is AWD so there's plenty of clearance.
So, is this a trip to the dealer? I'm only under powertrain... not sure if something is up if it would be covered. I think wheel bearings are, but not sure about other suspension parts that might cause this.
I'm having a problem trying to troubleshoot the warning buzzer circuit. Normally,the warning buzzer beeps twice when the trunk begins to open. It will also beep twice when you press the button to close the trunk. Yesterday I noticed that the warning no longer sounds when i open the trunk, but still beeps when i close the trunk. I examined he trunk closer, but couldn't find the buzzer or an activator for the beep generator. The service manual was worthless.
