So my trans clicks and jerks every time it downshifts into 2nd but that is the only time it does it. When i down shift using the tip shift it doesn't do anything and it all feels normal. What it could be being that it is just when it downshifts into second.
My car is a 2001 v6 4motion.
While driving in either D or S mode, the transmission jerks in 3rd gear changing into 4th and then its fine. but it always happens in 3rd. The jerks are very very quick.
My car is 4.2L 2004 V8 (6 speed) and it has 30,000 miles on it.
I have a 2010 Matrix with automatic transmission. 5.5 year old with only 44,000 KM ... The transmission jerks annoyingly when up-shifting from gear one to two. I replaced the transmission oil and had Toyota service confirm there is a problem.
I read that the accumulator should be checked and adjusted as well as the throttle which can be done without removing the transmission, but Toyota tells met hat everything is now electronic and there is nothing to adjust. How to proceed?
On my 2003 Chevy Impala with 127,000 miles the car jerks like someone has hit you in the rear end, it usually happens from first to second and is becoming more frequent. A recent transmission service had no effect
View 2 RepliesOnly during the summer, my 2003 Vue transmission jerks and shifts to (I believe) to a higher gear. Mechanic replaced the computer "harness" but it did not solve the problem. The car has little power to accelerate from a stop. I usually pull over, turn off the motor, and restart the vehicle.

Lately it is jerking when shifting, especially noticeable when I'm pulling my 5er (10K lbs). Almost a "clunk". No warning lights or OD flashing. I live at 6000 feet and play at over 9K so mountain driving is routine. Fluid is up to right spot on the dip-stick.
I have a Check engine light on. I was driving up to go skiing and i was going up a hill, so i downshifted to 4th and the engine bogs down and the check engine light comes on, and it wont let me accelerate beyond 3000 RPM. I pull off at the next exit and turn the car off and go skiing(I was already there, I drove all the way and I figured I might as well ski). I come back after a few hours and head home, Im taking it easey but i notice that it seems to drive normal now, but the CEL is still on. What the problem could be? I have already had both turbos replaced and the last month the ecu was reprogrammed for throwing up faulty codes. But this time there may be something wrong with the engine.
View 10 RepliesMy wife and I have a 2002 Escape and basically love it, however, at my last oil change, at 26,000 miles, I told the service manager about a shudder I was getting from the transmission when it down-shifted from overdrive. He suggested a transmission fluid change since I was in the range that Ford recommends.
That totally corrected the problem for almost 4000 miles, however, the shudder is slowly starting to come back at 30000 miles.
Just yesterday, I took it to my Ford dealer for inspection, oil change and it's 30000 mile check up and I mentioned this problem to the service manager. He suggested that I make an appointment.
The problem is that right now, it is happening so infrequently, if they took it for a test drive, it might happen right away, or not at all, but I know it will get worse as time goes on.
Question. Should I wait until the problem gets worse, and second, what might be the cause?
I drive a 2005 Jetta GLI 1.8T 6 speed O2M transmission.
I was redlining 1st 2nd and it wouldn't go into 3rd tried 2-3 times finally did. but I believe it went into first instead! I think I was driving like 50-60 mpg I don't know. Anyways it JERKED BADLY. I think right after it started making a noise. sounds like the manifold or downpipe gasket. I know the flex part of my cheap downpipe started like tearing and ripping, so I thought that just broke thru. maybe I don't know. I drove the car home. tranny worked flawlessly. every gear very smooth like always. (redline tranny fluid). at home I jacked it up took the bumper off. and listened where the sounds were coming from. not power steering. it sounds like a hose is loose. but I checked nothing. I put my ear next to the tranny. sounds like it coming from there. nothing changes when I depress the clutch. when I start driving the sound goes away I think. can't hear the cause of aftermarket exhaust. and stage 2 chip tunning APR 93.
After all, that believing it the downpipe. I put everything back on and drove it about 10 miles and this other sound came in. happened in 2nd after like 4-5krpm. maybe it was there from the beginning. I drove it slowly under 3k. but this sound is like rattling and kinda vibrates the clutch a little. it happens after I accelerate and take my foot off the gas pedal. kinda when slowing down. I drove parked the car 2 hours later drove it home and 2-5th gear was making this rattling sound now.
I don't know what to do. I need to drive a car. should I drive it or not? do I need a new tranny/ is it fixable? should I park the car and take the tranny off/
how tightly are the flywheel bolts suppose to be tightened? something loose?

My wife and i have an 07 2.0t and she used to complain that when the car downshifted (on a ramp or something) the car would kind of jerk. At first i just thought she was a woman and didn't know what she was talking about, until we started taking her car into work I noticed the same thing...but not just on a downshift when the car upshifted it would do it as well.....its basically just a quick little jerk like a buck or something..happens maybe 1 or 2 times a week.

Last night, when I stepped on the accelerator for the first time when it downshifted I got a nasty vibration until I let off. When just cruising or accelerating at a normal speed there is no vibration at all. It doesn't matter if you're doing 20 mph or 60mph, it's the same vibration when you accelerate hard.
I'm thinking maybe a motor mount or something?
My 2006 Elantra (54,000 miles) shifts really, really hard when it's not cold and passes through the 35 mph range -- hard enough to make you glad you've got your seatbelt on. I've taken it to my regular mechanic and now it's in an automatic transmission shop.
My mechanic changed the fluid (twice), and took it through a "learning sequence". The fluid didn't look that bad and he reported that there were no codes to work with. He thinks I'm going to have to get a new transmission.
The AT shop has confirmed that there are no codes to work with and that the problem begins at 143 degrees. They tell me that the transmission is shifting into a higher gear without releasing the lower gear. They tried replacing a couple of solenoids, but that yielded no change in behavior. Now, they're telling me they "think" I need a new computer. I'm just afraid the trial & error approach is going to cost me a boat-load.
I have an 01 and 02 santa f. I took the v6 out of 01-and put in the 02.put new gaskets on engine new timing belt etc. Got engine in and runs like a champ. But the tranny which looks new I assume its been replaced. It starts out in 2 or 3 all the time want shift into od. Reverse works. So I found one plug dangling I couldn't figure out where it went then i found it. It plugged up on top of tranny. Well now it starts out in first and shifts through all the gears. Drove it down the rd shifted fine. Turned around and put in reverse then when i went to drive it jerked real hard. Shifted out fine so I went to floor it to make it kick down and it jerked again. This time it was hung in 3 or drive cause when I pulled into my driveway it was in high gear and u can put it in manual mode and the light only goes to second and d when it acts up like this. So i killed the car started back up and know it will go into first in manual mode and shift out and do fine?
View 3 Replies83' Toyota Celica GT with an automatic transmission. The problem that we are having is that we can't get it to turn over. All it wants to do is click at us. As far as we both can tell all cables and wiring harnesses are plugged in and there aren't any loose wires. We've had the alternator and starter checked and they both passed. Also there is a new battery with new terminals installed so that's not going to be the problem. In all of the reading that I've done I keep hearing about a neutral start switch. What is it? And where is it located? I believe I've found a spot where it should be but there isn't anything there. And we've put all of the parts in the car back where they go.
View 4 RepliesYesterday I jump on the freeway, shift to 5th and the whole car jerks. Happened again later that night. After that I was more focused when shifting to 5th and it hasn't done it since. Could it be this B&M short shifter that the last owner installed? I also noticed since day one that when the car is cold it doesn't like going into first sometimes, meaning I can't throw it all the way to the left and then up to get to first. It's more like a little to the left and then up but when the car is warmed up I can throw it all the way to the left.
View 3 RepliesI have a problem with my transmission I believe. Its 2004 passat 4-cyl turbo. Not sure whats wrong. When i start the car the entire display (P-R-N-D) is lit up like they are all in gear. It drives but seems to be stuck in 3rd gear I would guess.

When I turn off ESP and make a quick acceleration from stop sometimes I hear a loud thud from under the car when the car changes from 1st to 2nd gear, like someones hitting as hard as they can with a mallet. It only seems to happen when I have ESP turned off though. Any thoughts? It sounds like its horrible for my transmission, its probably happened 3 times in the last couple weeks but now I'm afraid to peel out fast in my car because of possible damage to the transmission. Could it be the valve body that's in recall? Or some other issue?
Guess its pertinent to mention, 06 2.0T with Triptonic and 72k miles.
I am driving an 01 Accord Coupe as a trial from a family member before I decide to purchase. I am hoping to upgrade from my 91 Celica that has some strange transmission issues. Having said that, I am worried about the Accord's tranny, and I guess I am being paranoid!
When changing into 3rd gear, the car sometimes "surges" into it. It usually happens when I first start driving it, perhaps the second or third time it changes into the gear after being started up and driven. It's not for very long, perhaps half a second, and it's not a lunging type of surge, but I guess I am a bit gunshy right now. Don't want to trade one set of tranny issues for another.
It has 130,000 miles on it. My family member bought it off of someone else. They have owned it for about 2 years, but didn't drive it very often at all. I need it for a daily commuter (2+ hours a day.) I am not sure if the transmission has ever been serviced (fluid changed, etc.)
I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent GL the reverse gear went out but all the forward gears work. Ive been told that I need a new transmission. I found a great deal on a transmission from a 2007 Hyundai Accent. Will this transmission work in my car?
View 1 RepliesI am having a few issues with my 2001 accent. I bought this car for around 500 bucks after my friend hit 3 deer with it. At 101,000 miles the transmission went on it and he had it replace with a new one. At about 113k he hit his third deer and parked it. I bought it off him a few years later and its been running great. It died on me one time and it was the crank position sensor. Now I have about a 156k mile on it and it will not go into overdrive.
I have gotten mis fire codes, I know it needs new O2 sensors, and also P0733 Gear 3 Incorrect ratio. The button on the shifter does nothing, If i press it on or off the light does not come on on my dash. I noticed it was not going into OD this last winter if i dropped it into low and shifted to drive it would no longer go into overdrive until i placed it in park and then drive again. Ive been searching everywhere for an answer I was reading one post that it could be the TPS sensor causing issues but i haven't had time to check the voltage.
