I have a 2006 V6 4Motion and one of the HID bulbs has slightly dimmed and is projecting a light purple beam. I called my local dealership and was told this is normal and VW will not replace the bulb under warranty unless it's projecting under a certain candlepower or the unit is completely out. I plan on having the dealership check the bulb, but if it's starting to go bad, I will just replace it.
View 4 RepliesReplaced both bulbs (left and right even though only left was out) with fresh H7s and my left headlight still doesn't work. so i thought, maybe fuses, but manual only references fuse #5 on both left and right fuse boxes as headlight control - but for XENONs only. Since i don't have HIDs, there is no fuse in spot #5 in either fuse box. Any other fuses i should check that i may be overlooking in the manual?

View 6 RepliesI had a low beam bulb go out a month ago on the driver side. I bought some silvania silverstars to install on both sides. The drivers side went fine but as I installed the passenger side the inside reflector housing came loose, apparently popping off some spring clips inside the headlight housing. The passenger side headlight assembly now pointed towards the ground 10 feet in front of the car... I tried to adjust the screws to bring the light pattern back up. No joy.
Anyway I messed and messed trying to get the reflector housing to fit back on the spring clips. I ended up having to pull the bumper apart and the whole front side of the car to totally remove the headlight assembly. Once I got it out I found these little ball/socket spring clips and was able to put the assembly back together.
Now my issue is I have lost track of the adjustment screws and where the headlights should point. Any formula such as, "park your car 10ft from the garage door on the flat level. The low beam should be 30 inches off the ground on the bottom and the 40 inches at the top. The beam should be 50 inches from the center line of the car" Something like that so that I can get my headlights back to factory settings.
Been about 3 months now trying to figure out my issue in my 2006 passat 2.0t the front passenger low beam bulb keeps going out no matter what kind of bulb I use. They last for a week or two then burn out .When the do burn out they actually blow into pieces the only thing left are the wires in the bulb checked into everything I could think of looked at the plug of where the bulb plugs in checked the wires that connect to it ran as far as I could follow in the engine compartment all the wires seemed fine. And there's no moisture getting into the headlamp assembly.
View 9 RepliesI had the heater core flushed, inspection done, a tie rod end replaced, and both low beams replaced to pass inspection in January. The driver's side low beam stopped working after a week.
When I would hit a bump in the road, it would start working for a while till I hit another bump and then it would go off. Now the driver's side low beam never works.
I could have gone back to the mechanic, but it's an 80 mile round trip(they used to be a lot cheaper than the dealership). Now that the weather is starting to get better, do you think it's a simple problem that I can fix myself? I don't want to waste 80 miles worth of gas just to have them charge me for something that they already charged me to fix. The next time I'm due an oil change I may go there and demand that they fix the light too, but I'm not going to waste 80 miles of gas just for the light.
I've been searching around and have been reading that the easiest way to do it is to remove the front bumper. I'm really hoping this is not the case. I've only taken a quick look at it, but it does seem that some things will need removed. Any quick explanation of the easiest way to get the assembly out of there?
View 4 RepliesFor several months I would intermittently get a message saying "Bulb failure, Low beam". It would go off and not reappear for a few weeks and then it got to where the message would come on and after a few hours it would go off and then reappear a few days later. Since the time frame was getting shorter and shorter between message appearances I decided it needed to be looked at.
The Volvo dealer just replaced the light bulb. After about a week, the message reappeared.
Long story short, I had the right headlight ballast (headlight igniter) replaced and a new ($230.00) right side Xenon bulb replaced. Neither of these actions has corrected the problem, although the mechanic that did the work said he did a scan on all systems and everything in the car was in good shape. I left his shop and about 6 blocks down the street, the message reappeared.

I got extended maintenance warranty to 100k miles, but bulbs, I don't think so. I just noticed today that both were out on low beam, high beam are fine. Should I take car to dealer? or is this something I can do myself?

View 12 RepliesMy driver's side Headlight Bulb Low-Beam Part of Bulb is out again. Since about a years time every few months the low-beam part of the bulb goes out & I replace the bulb. I have replaced about "4" bulbs in about a years time. The high-beam part of the bulb always still works. At a glance all wiring appears good; connector seems fine & wires all down into engine bay still encased in plastic tubing. I always use grease on the connector-wire contacts as it states in instructions when replacing bulb. The bulb housing shows no signs of problems. I think if I take it to the dealer they will just find that it all checks good. But I think has to be something like a short or something wrong.
View 5 RepliesI recently melted (due to my own ignorance) the backshell that holds the low beam light bulb in place. I can see that the backshell is removeable since there's it looks like there's 3 screws that hold it in place. The headlight would have to be baked apart, but I already know how to do that. My question is: is there anywhere that sells this part, or does the housing assembly have to be bought whole? I was also looking at the spyder lights that claim they are projectors, but I'm wondering how they compare to regular OEM output. This is for a hybrid btw
View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 prius. The low beam bulb on the passenger side had a flash the other day and wouldn't be turned on any more. I changed bulb, fuse. It still doesn't work. The high beam on this side and the low and high beam on the other side are fine. I noticed the socket to this bulb is kind of fried. I check the voltage. It shows zero.

I want to get rid off the halogen bulbs and use after market xenon bulbs to replace them. What brand is the best and what do I need to be careful with? Also what size are the bulbs? I have the NAR headlights. I don't have the dual xenon headlights.

View 3 RepliesThis morning a dash light informed me a headlight bulb was out. It was my DTR light on the passenger side.
I purchased Sylvania H7 high intensity, installed it and it failed to work properly. Daytime light on only drivers side works.
High Beam on , both lights works.
I checked my manual and it said to check fuse in the 5 slot on the driver side dash/door panel and there actually is no fuse in there. I checked the driver side and there was no fuse there either.
I replaced my driver side bulb last year and it took 5 mins....i am already 4 hours into this!
The passenger side HID bulb of my 2005 RX330 need to be replaced, how to? Also there is condensed water in the assembly. I am going to replace it later. Where are other screws beside two on the top?
