Prius (2004-09) :: Transmission Overheating With Code POA43?

Aug 13, 2015

I have a very high mileage prius 2004. The transmission seem to be overheating and I think I do not have enough coolant, or a coolant leak? The mechanic said I needed a new transmission. Is this true? Will coolant fix this problem? The car started doing this when I was idling with the ac

The code is P0A43 in case you missed it. Check engine and red triangle come on, or vsc when the car doesn't work. All lights we're gone when I left mechanics today, and they came back on after I turned the car off and back on at the gas station. The pump worked fine, he said. Does the transmission need replaced?

I just looked at the coolant, it is below the low mark, from what I can tell. Will filling the coolant to the full mark fix the issue? Does this code mean correcting the fluid?

Prius (2004-09) :: Code P0A85 - HV Battery Is Overheating

I have a 2006 with 188,000 miles. We replaced the hv battery at 155000 miles. the car has been getting lower mileage than usual, around 36 mpg, we usually get 43 to 45 on the trip to work and back. the red triangle appeared and all the other lights a couple days ago. Borrowed a code reader, not a scan gauge, and the code came up P0a85, and says the HV battery is overheating. I checked the 12v battery and it is low, at 11.7 volts. So I am replacing the 12v battery, should be here in a couple days, already replaced it once, about 4 or 5 years ago.

Prius (2004-09) :: Overheating - Code P1150 / Coolant Loss

I am getting a P1150 code on a 06 Prius (240k). Red Triangle and temp light come on after about 15min of driving (no heat). I have taken it to the dealer. They said the Coolant control valve (stuck) and waterpump (leaking) needed replacing. I replaced both of these myself along with the temp sensor and radiator cap, but the problem persisted.

Coolant is also shooting out of the overflow hose in the reservoir tank when car warms up. I just took it to a different shop yesterday because I was assuming I could not get all of the air bled out of my system. They charged me $200 and said there was quite a bit of air in the system. The first thing I did when starting my Prius was to check the heat, no heat. I drove it home and immediately noticed there was yet again coolant spitting out of the overflow tube. I didn't want to believe this was happening again. I drove it to work this morning (15min drive) and the red triangle and temp light came back on.

I now have been driving it with the radiator cap loose so the pressure does not build up and spit the coolant out. This works for short drives, but I've noticed my coolant is disappearing quickly. No visible coolant on the ground or anywhere in the engine bay.

Prius (2004-09) :: Code P0A63 And Transmission Slipping

I have a 2006 Prius with 103k miles that runs and drives great but sometimes with no warning will display the red triangle and check engine light and seem to slip out of gear. All I can do is coast to a safe spot to reset the codes. Once I reset the code it runs fine again.

Prius (Gen 2) :: Fan Not Working / Battery Overheating - Error Code POA85

VSC, ABS triangle warning! Error code POA85 ... We took the car apart and basically found the error with the fan it's not working. When you connect the battery to the fan it's working perfectly. The fan motor resistor is overheating is this the problem? Or should it be very hot.

Prius (2004-09) :: Engine Overheating High As 250 F Leads To Red Triangle

My 2009 Prius is overheating at times. I have a Scan Gauge connected and it normally shows an engine temp of 181-182 f. Rarely approaches 200. At times, it will go as high as 250 which brings on the red triangle and gong sound. If I start out cold (don't shut off the car during the trip), it will run perfectly for the entire time. Doesn't matter what the outside temp or whether running AC.

If I stop for a couple mins and turn off the engine, then restart, it will misbehave and run all over the temp spectrum. I took it on a 1000 mi drive to Seattle in July. On the way there, I didn't notice any problems but it was rainy, cool and didn't run the AC much.

Coming back was a different story. If I let it sit (powered off) for 15-20 mins or so, it will hold the correct temp. It's just when it sits (powered off) for brief periods (less than 10 mins) that it will act up. Another clue is that it cools going up hill and gets hotter going down. That seems contrary to the usual and only does that when acting up.

Prius (2004-09) :: Overheating / Radiator Fan Not Working - Exclamation Mark Sign On HUD

I am driving smoothly on the highway, doing about 60km/hr, with my A/C working on a full. Suddenly, the check engine and emergency brake light comes up on the HUD along with a beeping sounding. A pull over, and smell a bad odor - like burning rubber - coming out of the hood. I checked and the car was immensely heated and there was smoke rising from a small rubber tube right next to the fuse box under the hood. I turned off the car.

Whenever I would turn the car back on, the smoke would start coming back. I checked several times. I couldn't find out where the smoke was coming from.

When the car cooled down a bit, I checked the radiator. The coolant level was a bit low so I filled up with the water. I also noticed that the radiator fans were not working, even when I turn the A/C on. So I called a towing company and got my car back to my garage.

Now the car heats up after running for a bit and the big exclamation mark sign comes on. The check engine light also comes on. But when the car cools down, the lights go away. I am thinking that the problem has something to do with overheating and the radiator fans not working.

Prius (2004-09) :: Overheating / Red Triangle On Dash And Thermometer Icon On Navigation Screen

My car Gen.2 was 200K. I change the water pump and thermostat on 150K. The reason to change the parts because I think my car a lot of miles. The car run great no problems. Till last month my car had overheat on freeway at night time. The temperature up to 245 F have the red triangle on dash and thermometer icon on Navigation screen. Before overheat on same day on the daytime when I take off I heard sound water running in the engine. The day after I check the level coolant in the reservoir tank was full but in the radiator need to fill up the coolant. After that when I drove the car the coolant overflow form the reservoir all the time. I have to check and fill up the coolant in the radiator every morning. I been the many shop ask them about the symptom of my car. Some they told me water pump failure, some said thermostat failure open all the time or some told me head gasket leak. I check all the engine didn't see any leak but I saw coolant overflow from reservoir...

Prius (2004-09) :: Red Triangle With Code P0aa6 And Sub Code 612 Came On

have a 07 prius with 113k miles. It recently displayed the red triangle with code p0aa6 sub code 612.

I took apart the battery and nothing looked corroded, then on the inside of the bus bar i found a small amount of corrosion. After testing the cells i found 2 modules that were leaking voltage.

Since I had everything open I figured I might as well test to see if any cells were on there way out. The static voltages were pretty close around 7.8v, there were a couple modules that were .3v apart that I'm doing more testing on. I load tested each module with 1a, is 1 amp enough for a load test? I have a 100a load tester but figured that was way too much. They were all ok under load test, dropping about .6v and returning to original voltage within a few minutes.

Then I decided to check capacity on the bad cells, they were about 500mah, got to 1000mah after 1 discharge/charge cycle. I tested the capacity on a cell I thought was good and so far it discharged about 1050mah until it reached 6v, this was from 7.77v. I'm giving it some time to rest to see if it goes back up a bit and then I'll discharge some more till it stays at 6v. Even if I get a little bit more in it will be way under the 6500mah it should have or even the 3500mah that I've read is acceptable.

Since all of the modules have parameters that are pretty close I'm thinking the capacity will be pretty close as well.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Transmission Malfunction - Code P0721?

My transmission failed on me again last night, truck won't move (I still seem to have reverse). Was cruising down the road at 85km/h and Trans Failure came up with a P0720 (OSS sensor Cct.) and P0722 (output shaft speed sensor no signal) codes. The first time I only got a P0721 code.

This is the second time in 6 months. Last time I spend 3200 to get it rebuilt locally. i don't do any towing, I don't spin my tires etc. and I haven't taken it off pavement since it was rebuilt so I'm not sure why this is happening. I baby my truck.

I have the 4R70E in the truck now, will the 4R100 fit? It's suppose to be a heavier duty tranny correct? Where I can get one and if not where I could send mine to have it reinforced?

Prius (2001-03) :: Shuddering Transmission - Code P3125 And P3120?

Working on a 2002 prius with 153k miles. bought it with a "Bad transmission" diagnosed by toyota dealer. Got I home and did a quick check but there were no codes. I drove it about 50 feet into my garage where it would shudder badly while being driven which from my experience sounds like a bad MG2 motor. Drained the oil and thought hhmmm th oil does not smell bad and neither did it look burned. Proceeded to pull the mg2 but found it looked brand new, no burned spots or any such thing. SO I put it back together and think its a bad invertor. put on a different invertor that I have lying in my garage that I "think" is good and start the car. get code p3125 and p3120 and still have the bad shuddering when i try to drive it..Is there any way to test it further before I pull the trans and put a new trans back in?

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Overheating With P2096 Code

I have an 05 accent that overheats on short rides, it smells of antifreeze when you pop the hood. There are no visible leaks, and the antifreeze level is good.

Also the check engine light is on and is outputting a P2096 code.

I'm stumped as to what this problem could be, at first I was thinking thermostat or some kind of clog or something like that, now I'm not so sure.

Corolla :: 1996 - Overheating - Transmission Slipping In Traffic?

I've been driving a 96 Corolla into the ground for the past 5 or 6 years and recently it's been having overheating issues. It has overheated to the point of steam twice now, and I'm worried at this point I've fried the engine or transmission.

I regularly check the radiator fluids and oil thinking that these would solve the issue, but alas it happened again today ten fold.

While driving home in hot southern california today I first noticed my transmission slipping in traffic. It was slipping when I started moving in stop and go, and settled in once I was going 30 or 40 miles per hour. I had my puppy in the car and was only a few minutes from home so I thought it would be fine, otherwise I would have pulled over immediately.As I got closer the problem got worse to the point where I could no longer shift and move forward. I over revved the engine to get it into a safe spot and it overheated. After waiting 40 minutes I checked on the Transmission fluid (checked unrunning) and it was bone dry. The radiator was full with coolant and oil levels looked good. I put as much transmission fluid as I had in my trunk (not much) back into the car, started it and got the car up the few more blocks I had to go. On the way it was still slipping, at the severity it had to begin with.

My question to you is do you think the transmission is totally shot and I need an overhaul? Or is there some hope that it may have been overheating because it needs a flush/drain and new transmission fluid? The car is at 136k miles and has had a replaced radiator in the past year.

Cadillac - Deville :: 1999 - Overheating - Oil / Transmission Leak?

We recently purchased a used 99 Cadillac Deville.after buying it we took it to the shop for an oil change, we were told that we had a slight oil leak and slight transmission leak but that both were small snd nothing to worry about, thinking we had a decent running vehicle we took the car out of town 2 times we still didn't have any issues until about a week later we were running errands and the car alerted us that the coolant was overheated and to idle engine...my question is what could be the cause etc?? We did buy coolant because afterward we noticed it was low we filled it up and we r still having this problem.

Camry :: 2006 Toyota Overheating And Shutting Down - PO017 Code

2006 Toyota Camry 4 Cyl Manual Transmission. I'm getting a PO017 code - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Circuit Low Input.

The dashboard temp gauge reaches a red H at low speeds. After about 15 minutes of driving, the car overheats and shuts down when the car slows down. I wasn't at home and didn't have coolant, so I put water in the coolant reservoir. 15 minutes later at home, the car overheated and shut down. The water in the reservoir was boiling and steaming.

When the car is idle, the radiator fan turns on immediately. I noticed the passenger side fan doesn't run. Could the one fan be the problem?

I was also really low on oil and added oil. There's oil on the engine block too. I might have multiple problems at the same time. See pics. [URL] .....

Metro :: Battery Light Came On And Engine Overheating After Transmission Serviced

I have a 97 GEO Metro LSI (1.3 liter 4 cyl.) A/T w/ AC. Recently serviced the Transmission (i.e. dropped the pan, replaced filter etc..) and put new fluid in. Shortly after this, the battery light came on and the car began overheating. The vehicle is losing zero coolant/water. Dunno if the transmission service is related but mentioned it since it was so close in time to the current problem. Here is what I've done since.

~Replaced Thermostat (no result)
~Noticed that the Electric Fan Motor in front of AC is not working
~Replaced Fan Motor Relay (no result)
~Direct wired the Electric Fan Motor (AC) to battery.. IT Worked!!! and the car does not overheat HOWEVER, now the batter drains quickly and the AC blower is running 50% at full speed. As soon as I disconnect my direct wire.. the AC blows full on again but naturally the Electric Fan does not work

How to approach this problem?????
