Something I haven't seen yet. 2007 2.9l is hard to start and stalls after filling up with gas. After it runs a minute, no problems. Is it something with the gas cap maybe????? The catalytic converts have been changed, maybe something with the O2 sensors???

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Car Stalling After Filling Up Gas Tank?

2007 Hyundai Santa Fe is currently stranded 4 hours away from home. The gas tank was 1/4 full and they filled up the gas tank and drove 4 miles down the thruway and then the car starting acting funny and stalled. Now when they try to start the car the car it dies after a few seconds. Of course it's Memorial Day weekend too.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Truck Stalls As Accelerating

I've got an issue with my 2007 Santa Fe.... At the first drive of the day, the truck stalls as accelerating. Happens like clockwork and sometimes the stall is so hard that the truck stalls. I've noticed a few things... It happens when there is medium to hard acceleration from stop (1st gear) until when it shifts to 2nd. I noticed the battery and seatbelt light flash during the stall (prob cause truck just died) and then it regains power. If I put the car in manual, it rides 1st gear no problem. If I accelerate very slowly, it shifts normally and continues to drive. This only happens from 1st to 2nd gear. I've replaced the TPS, plugs, cleaned the TB and intake tube.

I have not yet took it to the dealer for the PCM update for the new TPS. What should I try next??? Crank sensor? MAF sensor? Replace throttle body? I also wondered if maybe it was an electrical issue. I've noticed when I drive into a tunnel and the auto lights come on my lights dim and the seatbelt light (no chime) begins to flash. I replaced the alternator about a 9 months ago due to failure. Or is this maybe a tranny issue? This only happens the first drive of the day. As the keep driving and come to a complete stop and continue, it does not stall from 1st to 2nd.

I pulled codes a few months back and it had about 4 codes related to the TPS. I replaced both fuel tank level sensors yesterday and my CEL is gone (truck still stalls).

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: After Start Up Idling And Stalls - RPM Drops

I have a 2009 Santa fe 3.3L V6 (live Montreal, Canada), since the past week when I start it up, I've noticed that after 1 minute or so while the it is idling my rpm's drop from 1000 to about 650 for split second and it seems to want to stall. The same thing happens when driving for a a small distance when ever I have to make a stop my Santa fe rpm's drop (split second) so low it seems to want to stall. Could it be related to Throttle Sensor Position?

Hyundai - Santafe :: 2008 - Stalls After Filling Gas Tank?

I have a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. Runs great, except for the last two months, every time I fill it with gas, it tries to stall out when I start it. Once I get it running for a minute or so, it is fine until the next time I fill it with gas. Tried filling it with premium gas a few times to see if that made a difference...it didn't. Took it to my mechanic; he said the car was fine. This only happens at the gas pump and no other time.

1999 F350. It has the 7.3 diesel engine. His complaint is the truck will stall out on him shortly after filling up. It makes no difference if he is driving at full speed or stopped at a light the truck has stalled in both situations. He reports that he resulted to only filling up to half a tank for a while and that seemed to stop the problem. I was thinking a vent problem. Maybe the gas cap is bad causing a vacuum situation But I have read a few articles about tank delamination and now I'm not sure what to think.

I drive a Sante fe 2002 V6 24V front wheel drive. The issue is that the car will not start after it gets filled up with gas unless I press and old the gas pedal, any other times the car starts with no issues. It was suggested that I change the gas cap which I did and no change, I tried living the cap loose but the the engine wouldn't shut off even with the keys out of the ignition and in my hand had to stall it in order for it to shut off. I purchased a ODB2 plugged it in and no codes appeared.

Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Fuel Tank Not Filling All The Way

Well, just got back from my dealer - had them check into why after driving approximately 20 miles my fuel gauge registers 3/4 full. They said it has nothing to do with the cluster gauge everything checks out as accurate. My vehicle had the ECU 293 update applied at production. According to them is it because there is something preventing my fuel tank from filling all the way up. According to the service rep when the pump clicks off, my fill up is about 3-5 gallons short.

When I took delivery of the vehicle I noticed that the distance for the remaining (full) tank of gas read around 384. I've never seen that number again. Now when I do a fill up the best tops out at 310 or so. Where exactly did my 70+ additional miles until empty go?

They opened a case for my vehicle with Hyundai and said that Hyundai is already aware of this problem and they are working on a repair.

The last 2 times I have filled up at the pump and started driving from the station there is the strong smell of raw fuel in the cabin while driving and on the highway as well even with the windows down. It slowly dissipates after driving 5 miles or so and does not occur again until the next time I fill up. What it can be?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2005 - Gas Overflow While Filling

I recently purchased a 2005 SantaFe LX with a 3.5L engine (4x4). The gas tank had been replaced prior to me buying it. The problem I have is when I am filling the gas tank, the gas pump never shuts off until the gas overflows out of the top of the filler neck. If I stop with approximately a couple of gallons left to go and wait a couple of seconds and then finish filling, the gas pump will usually click off before the overflow happens. The filler neck and vent hose don't appear to be pinched. This happens at multiple gas stations and weather doesn't effect it happening. The only issues I could find on line was the stopping and starting when trying to fill up and mine doesn't do that at all, it will just go until overflows like I described.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2002 - Hard To Start After Filling Up

Just bought a used but in pretty decent shape, 2002 Santa Fe, with 6 cylinder engine, 112K miles. I read the post about the vehicle that was hard to start after filling up - but this one is hard to start all the time - every time. Cranks fine, but once cranking, have to pump the gas pedal several times, and then it chugs just a second and then starts running. Slilght smell of gas if the hood is up, just after starting. Once running however, it runs perfectly on city and hwy. I have one mech that tells me "definitely the fuel pump" and another that tells me "definitely the purge valve" - this of course just from me describing the conditions, they have not actually seen it.

Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Pump Runs For 15 - 20 Liters And Then Shuts Off While Filling Up

The last 3 times I have tried to fill up, I have had about 1/3 of a tank. Tthe pump runs for ~15 -20 litres and then shuts off. I cannot fill any further. I have 9/16ths in the tank now, 360km to empty. I will phone the dealer tomorrow. 42000km now.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2004 - Filling Up Gas Tank Makes Engine Die

I've got a 2004 Santa fe V6 2.7 with a strange problem (145k miles).

On Sunday I filled up the tank and the car would start but not stay running the engine would just peter out and die. Took me a few minutes and a little revving and feathering the gas to get it to where the engine would not die b/f I got it into gear. After driving a mile home I turned off the car and restarted it 3 times w/o incident.

There was a previous episode that was very similar a few months ago. However, this was an isolated incident. I did a little research on the fuel filter and discovered the necessity of pulling out the back seats and did not take any action beyond always buying good gas. I lied to myself that the first freeze and a very cold engine was somehow to blame.

Friday morning I left on a trip (w/o getting more gas) and in route I filled the tank twice and both times it did not want to start. The car stated like normal when I left for the return trip. I stopped for gas once on the way home with the intent of buying just enough gas to get home and leaving the engine running while I pumped. As soon as I removed the gas cap the engine died and was once again difficult to start (the engine seemingly becoming more stubborn with each incident).

Additionally the idle while in gear was not as smooth as it has been but not necessarily to the point where I would have noticed if I had not been watching closely. I spent about 10 minutes on idle and under 10 mph creeping through a construction zone and the rpm dropped sharply a few times. what this could be?

Have issues filling the santa fe? when I start filling, if i press the nozzle fully, it keeps clicking off on me. Even if I try to half press it, it still clicks off periodically. It's a real PITA, especially in the winter. 2013 Sport.

Lexus LS 2007+ :: Car Is Off After Filling Fuel Tank

Normally when I fill my fuel tank, of course the car is off/not running. And once it is full and I get I'm the car then start it, the "Cruising Range" read out has always read about 403 mi.

Right after the recall was done, it read about 420 mi. if I recall correctly, but in the next fill up or two, it's remained at 403/404 mi.
However, today when I filled up and got in the car, the cruising range read 387 mi.

The tank was between 1/4 and 1/2 full before fill up.

This has been an ongoing issue for months. I fill up the Compass's gas tank all the way and, at the next stop light or paused traffic, it will stall. My workaround is to fill the gas tank almost all the way full and it doesn't stall. But, what could be causing this issue? I've seen repair suggestions for things such as power control module valve and connector switch for fuel pump, but haven't seen anything definitive.

Toyota - Suspension - Corolla :: 2007 - Rough Idle And Stall After Filling Gas Tank 100%

I fill my gas tank to 100% but I don't pump it again and overfill it like most people do after the pump stops. I then proceed to start the car. Initially it revs up and starts fine but when it revs back down to idle it does a rough idling (and sometimes it stalls). To get around the stall, I would restart and rev the engine to 3000 rpm for about 2 mins and it would be fine enough that I can drive away without it stalling but after a mile the rough idling stops and everything is back to normal. I replaced the PCV valve and it worked for about a year but it all came back again. I am stumped and every mechanic gives me a different reason and none of the reasons are even definite. It's one of those "lets try this and see what happens". One more thing, the car runs fine. It only happens when I pump more than 75% of the tank.
