Since we have had vehicle, it has had fault whereby whenever we turn engine off, the key will not come out of lock and display says "engage Park" even though we already have.... Only solution is to turn ignition back on and then off again, and then key comes out. Dealer has had one go at it, but no success, due to go for another try next week.
View 8 RepliesLast night I jumped into my Treg to move it into my garage. When I pushed the brake pedal to move the gear selector out of park, I heard a whooshing sound. Like the sound of a bellows-type foot pump I use to inflate my dinghy. I could also feel a slight amount of movement in the transmission lock button on the top left side of the shifter when doing this.
Now I'm noticing this noise whenever I apply the brakes. It doesn't appear to affect braking performance, but does have me wondering. I'll have the dealer check this out when I take the Treg in for the recent recall (got my notice yesterday).
My 2004 Explorer XLT 4.6L V8 AT is very difficult to shift out of park. Sometimes I have to push very hard on the brake in order to get the transmission selector out of park. Other times it is no problem.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2010 chevy silverado. No matter where I turn the blower selector switch, it always comes out of the vents. Also no matter where I turn the temperature selector knob, it's always cold. It's a company truck that I can't get fixed soon because of downtime and I'm not supposed to take it to get fixed on my own time. It was 37 degrees this morning on my drive into work.
View 4 RepliesI have noticed that I have to hold my gear selector towards park to get the reverse lights to come on. Also some times I have to hold it towards park to get it to start. I changed my tranny in Dec 2009 and occasionally it would do this while starting, just noticed the reverse lights about a week ago. Tried moving the cable where it attaches to the tranny a couple of serrations each direction. No luck. Is there another place I can make an adjustment?

View 7 RepliesThe other day I was driving downhill, luckily at slow speed, when the engine tuned off on my 2004 V8 Touareg. The brakes and steering were obviously in manual (not powered) and pull off on the side and turned on the engine again with no problems thereon.

View 3 Replies2004 Toureg with 12,000 Miles. No problems for 5 months. All of a sudden the engine fan has become posessed. When I park - even after 5 min of driving in cool Colorado weather - the fan kicks off and stays on for 10 to 20 min. The sucker is LOUD! I could not find any info on the fan in this forum. Having problems with the engine fan. I called the dealer and he said there no problem. (Also, the blue compas above the mirror was flashing on and off tonight. Bad, but I hope not related.)
View 8 RepliesWith my '04 V8, recently on my dashboard the selector gears light-up entirely, where as typically just the selected gear is highlighted with the orange box when operating. Make sense? P, R, N & D all are highligthed in the orange color.
It does this inconsistently in both automatic and tiptronic. Just last year I started using the vehicle to pull our pop up camper. No problems last year and it pulls fine. Two weeks ago on our first weekend out camping, using the tiptronic I noticed that all speeds where highlighted.
Sound I be concerned about this? I called local dealer, they had no clue. I called VW and they said take it to a dealer. The vehicle seems to be operating just fine.
This weekend my CEL went on and stayed there. Everything seemed otherwise fine until yesterday, when the engine started running rough (like it is missing) and the CEL will flash on and off periodically. When I got home, the exhaust smelled like gas. I have an appointment with the dealer one week from today, and am driving my "spare" car in the interim.
View 21 RepliesMy friend has a 2005 Tdi touareg (WVGZZZ7LZ5D053023). The low range indicator in the instrument cluster keeps on popping, the low range and high range indicator in the center console near the gear shift lever keeps on blinking at the same time. Driving the touareg was really slow, and the low and high range still keeps on blinking. There is no MIL appearing on the instrument cluster but scanning with VAG COM reveals this fault code below. I tried erasing the fault code but it keeps on coming back after a few seconds.

This is the first time I ever encountered this then again this is my first non-Honda/Acura vehicle. I pulled into my driveway turned the engine off , opened the door and the sound that signals your lights are on was blaring. I looked and did not have any lights on and all doors/hatch were shut. I could not figure it out why... then I noticed my right turn signal light was on.............. so I clicked it off and the noise stopped. Is this normal for the engine to be off and the signal light stay on and wail if it has not reset itself from a turn?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2002 Golf GLS. About a week ago I was driving around like a raped ape and spilled some soda down the gear shifter. I cleaned it up and didn't think anything of it. Recently, now that it's been getting colder out I found that my car doesn't want to shift out of park when I turn it on. No worries, just did the ("Step on the brake pedal five times,
hold the brake pedal down, start the car, shut off the car, turn the key a quarter turn, move the shift lever between neutral & drive, start the car and then you can move it into drive.") and shifted into gear fine.

My '06 GS 300 recently had a dead battery. Due , I think, to the alternator going bad. After jumping the battery and attempting to drive it to a mechanic, the car quit running and I ended up having the car pushed the rest of the way. Now the proximity key is not being recognized to start the car. When I push the button once, the accessories come on; but when I push it the second time to attempt to start the car - nothing happens. The message "key not detected" appears. I have recharged the car battery and recently changed the small batteries in both of my proximity keys.........so that isn't the problem.
View 4 Replies-6 degrees this morning. Drive to class fine, come out afterwards to my remote being dead. I popped off the cover to the door handle and unlock the car....alarm goes off. Try to start the car and MFD says key not recognized...it starts but shuts off after a second. How to separate the key without tools? I can't seem to pull it apart.by hand like the old Mk4s.
View 17 RepliesI have a 2002 Suburban 1500LT with rear wiper, and it has intermittent capabilities. Recently the rear wiper arm appears to be trying to park over and over when the switch is turned to off. Once in awhile it will make a full pass but then it goes back to the endless park syndrome.

View 6 RepliesGot in my GS the other day to go to work. Depressed the brake and push button start and car started like normal. Ran for 3 seconds or so and something on the dash flashed, maybe it said "system malfunction"? Car turned off and would not start. It was unexpected and happened so quickly. Car has worked fine since I've had it for 3 months or so. The brakes are now vacuum sealed and barely have any room to depress. The vehicle can only be locked/unlocked by hand and have to use the manual key to open the doors.
The door open light comes on the dash and the dome lights work. The key fob is not detected and does not work when I hold it up closely to the start button, like it is said to do when the car is immobilized. I just put a new battery in the key fob. That didn't work. I put a new car battery in the vehicle. That didn't work. I am not sure what to do anymore!!?? I spoke to the Lexus dealer on the phone and they sounded like it was either the key fob or the car battery. Checked those both out. Could it be the computer system? Maybe needs to be re-programmed? Something isn't triggering the ignition. The dash won't turn on or anything.
