Men's Health :: Questions And Doubts After Circumcision

May 10, 2016

I'm a 17 year old male who recently underwent a circumcision due to bad phimosis reasons. I went under full anesthesia and the operation and hospital process all went fine. I was just happy it was over with because I'd been struggling with it for so long. But now I face a new problem. When I left the hospital the same day, my doctor provided me with nothing but the bare basic information: remove the bandages after 24 hours and after that you're allowed to shower again. Nothing else. Me still stoned from anesthesia and desperate to get out of that place didn't bother with any other questions and at that time, everything felt fine.

But a couple of days after the operation I began to have my worries and doubts. First of all, I was left with a pretty nasty scar at the top of my frenulum right under my urethral opening, which has turned into a hard scab that itches like hell. It also fell off twice and regrew. It's also quite weirdly coloured, a kind of yellow white with the occasional blood colour. The surgeon never discussed with me what he exactly did to me, which quite frankly, I do blame him for. He for example never pointed out that he stitched the foreskin to the base of the penis (with water dissolvable stitches). Secondly, I have a pretty swollen ring just behind the corona to which the foreskin is stitched that itches like heck. A few stitches seem to have already gone sort of loose (and I don't know if this is already supposed to happen on the 5th or 6th day) and often I find a tiny little bit of dried up blood near these stitches. It's not much blood at all, most of the time less than a drop. Overall the whole business is very uncomfortable right now. Other than that I feel fine. No sign of fever or anything else, the wound isn't too bad either so I don't think it's infected. But I'm still kind of worried and it's really exhausting me because it's on my mind 24/7, even now I'm back to school (with jeans and bicycle which is going alright).

I'm just looking for people with experience or who can answer some of these doubts in general. Maybe I just needed to get my story on paper. Anyone with similar healing experiences? What can I expect from the future?

Anxiety :: Negative Thoughts And Self Doubts About Life Choices

All throughout my life I have had good opportunities that I have thrown away because of how I felt at the time, jobs, women, holidays etc etc I threw them all away because of my negative thoughts and self doubts... And its here again, i think!

I currently have a job that is very comfortable, money is good, not too far away from home and its easy to do... Its just boring as hell! Today I spent 2 hours doing nothing at all, and that's not me, Im not that type of person. Sure I kick back for half an hour after a busy spell but I actually like to be busy.

Anyway, I have been offered another job by my old boss. We get on great and its a very interesting, challenging job also the same money.

So whats the problem? The new job is three times further away than my current job which is still only 24 miles in total. I was up for the challenge this morning and very positive about it but as the day has gone on I have worn myself out with worry. I cant seem to shake the fact that, in my mind, its just too far away. It will be a 52 mile round trip and about an hours commute.

All I can think is that it is too far, will cost too much and that I will end up fed up and depressed. I will be all anxious at home  etc etc and then have to quit and let down my boss and probably ruin our friendship.

I know there is an element of thinking over a new job and is it worth it but why can't I think of all the good things about it.

I have done this so many times in my life and end up not following through with things because it makes me worry too much. Like its safer to stay bored than challenge myself. I don't know what to do!

Sexual Health - Men :: Botched Circumcision

I can't find much on my problem, but I believe my penis has two abnormalities. One is a small flap of skin on top of my penis that is connecting the edge of the head to the shaft. The other is on the bottom side about 3/4 of the way up the shaft, and it is a ~1 inch to 1.5 inch stretch of skin hanging down about a 3/8 inch, and looks similar to the texture of the skin on the scrotum, and the end towards the head of my penis is connected to the bottom of the head, in a little short flap hanging straight down. I hope my explanation made it clear what I was talking about, and I'm just trying to see if it really is a botched circumcision.

Men's Health :: Swelling Of Penis After Circumcision

I was circumcised on Friday (3 days ago) for medical reasons at the age of 23.

I have two issues that I'm looking for some advice with.

1. Below the glans, roughly at the height of the stitches, my penis is swollen. I know that some swelling is normal, but I don't know if mine is still in the normal range. It's swelling is about as thick as my pinky, maybe even ring finger. It's thicker than the actual glans area. So when I wear my pants, the swollen are is slightly pressed against my stomach and hurts quite a lot. (I was told to position my penis in an upright pose and wear skinny underpants).

Is this normal? How much swelling is acceptable and for how long? Should I be worried? I was just on the phone with the doc and I was told that swelling is normal, he didn't let me go into details.

2. I took off the bandage that was applied by the doc the day after the operation. I wasn't told to apply any bandages on my own, just to used some salve. The backside of my glans (penis upright) keeps sticking to my textil underpants. It's quite difficult to take them off and hurts a lot. I thought it was because of the salve I used, but even without it's the same. Should I still be using bandages or something?

Thanks.

Men's Health :: Post Circumcision Care For Men?!

I just had my penis circumcised about 15 days ago and its been healing great. I am 21 and was suffering from tight foreskin and painful sex, which is the reason. The dried blood has slowly been coming off and today, most of it came off.. and i noticed that the corona on top of the head is kind of attached to the shaft of the penis. I have recently been applying petroleum gel since about 5 days and noticed this today.. and it does have a mild pain when i turn my head away from the shaft (downwards). Does this mean that my skin that was cut off, accidentally connected to the penis head corona itself??

The circumference of the penis head does have white stuff that looks like puss but this is suppose to be the self dissoluble sutures/stitching. Everytime i shower, the remaining white stuff washes off and new one forms. I already approved this with my doctor, multiple times.. it is only dissolving stitching that makes it look like the way it looks..

Sexual Health Men :: Infection/Stitches And Circumcision

I'm 20 years old, and had a circumcision 13 days ago today which i'm quite happy with... However, I feel I have an infection on the underside as there is like white stuff all attached to it and even the skin looks kind of mouldy (not crazily but only a tiny bit)....

I'm supposed to be back at work on Monday but don't think it's possible... I feel really down right now (past few days) as my bandage came off yesterday which I was advised to keep on till it fell off (which it did yesterday) so the sensitivity is more strong now... Going to try go to the doctors later and see what's up.

I was also wondering when the stitches will fall out? I try to have 2 baths a day in salted water (quite warm) for 20-25 minutes a go.

Men's Health :: Slow Healing After Adult Circumcision?

Hi, so I am now 19 years old, and I got circumcised two years ago, when I was 17, because I had phimosis.
Though the scarred area should be long healed by now, I think mine has been very slow. It is still a little red, especially when I get erections, and there are still marks from the stitches.

I would like to change this and make it fully blended, and I was wondering how can I do this?
I did use an antiseptic cream for a while, till I later found out that this can slow the healing process. Could this be the main reason?

Also, if I use Vaseline petroleum jelly, would that be helpful at this point.
Thanks.

Men's Health :: Penis Numb 3 Days After Circumcision

I was circumcised on Friday as I had a severe case of phimosis in which the glans was completely covered. It is now Monday. I am a little concerned because my penis is quite numb. After researching for months on what to expect post-surgery, most of the stories I've read suggest that the head should be hyper-sensitive immediately following the surgery.

This has definitely not been the case for me. Last night I actually woke up and went to the bathroom just to make sure my penis was still attached. It was that numb. After reading so many stories of hyper-sensitivity, this numbness is starting to scare me. Should I be concerned?

If I touch the glans and shaft, I can feel them on my fingers, but VERY minimally. However, there is quite a bit of swelling so I'm assuming that the numbness is the result of the swelling. My urine tends to spray in three separate streams, suggesting that the urethral tract is obstructed by internal swelling...Does that sound right?

There is some bruising on the glans that I can feel as I walk around. A tingly sensation, but again it is very minimal. Overall, it is quite numb and not at all sensitive as I expected. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

Men's Health :: Swollen And Painful Scar/ridge After Adult Circumcision?

I have recently had a revision circumcision as the first time I had a circumcision due to tight foreskin done which was around 10 years ago it was quite a poor job, it looked messy and untidy and the scar on the top side of the penis below the glans was tender and painful. After years of just putting up with it I decided to get it done again. The surgeon was reassuring and said we can tidy it up and get rid of the painful scar etc. Anyway so I had the procedure done two weeks ago and I know it's early days and there is still swelling but I can see there is going to be yet another swollen ridge where the scar is on the top side of the shaft below glans. The rest of the circumference of the scar is healing fine, the underside and the sides are nearly all healed, swelling is going down and I can already see the scar will be level with the rest of the skin on my penis and there will not be tenderness or a ridge like there is on the top side.

What can I do about this? Why is it healing like this again? Do I just scar badly in that area? I put up with it for years before and often avoided sex because of it due to pain and embarrassment and I really hoped I could get it resolved but it looks like the same is happening again.

I see other photos of circumcisions and there is a smooth scar all the way around. The type of circumcision I have is quite loose so there is still excess skin on the shaft that can bunch up a bit behind the head, I don't know if this maybe causes the scar to roll up and heal thicker, whereas if the skin was pulled tight from head to base then maybe the scar would be flatter?

Im not sure what to do now, I thankfully was able to have this done on the NHS and can see them saying well that's it now there's nothing more we can do and I will be stuck with the painful scar. Has anyone experienced anything like this or has any advice? I would really appreciate it.

Oraquick Swab Reliability Questions

I met a woman and after about 4 weeks of dating we had sex. Which was protected sex. The sex did not last very long as one of her kids came home so the sex was less than 15-20 seconds but the oral before that like 5 minutes long and that was also protected by condom actually the same condom. Anyways I got a sore throat and for like 2 weeks maybe a few days longer and had many other things going on and didn't think to much about it and the doctor gave me a antibiotic for it. Anyways like 6 weeks past this incident I travel and had not physically seen here since the day after night we had sex she calls and I can tell something is wrong and she finally stated she just found out she tested positive for HIV and they are doing a confirmation test in like a week, so I panic and go buy a oral test from CVS and it is negative this is at 6 weeks, so anyways i continue to have issue's that all point to HIV that while I am still traveling I buy another test from CVS and its the same oral swabbing test and negative again at 9 weeks. So anyways I have been so consumed by this it is all I think about. She did get confirmation she is indeed positive. so I feel a little better with two test that are negative and then I screw up and get on the internet and I be dang I thought that the oral test was accurate and everything on the internet states not until 90 days. Then I think well I used a condom and I was thinking back as I remember think geez it feels like I don't have any protection on so maybe it broke.....I did take it off but with her kid coming home I didnt really slow down to inspect it before I flushed it away. So here is where I stand with questions and I guess fear.

1. Are the two test I have take the oral swabs home kits accurate enough at 6&9 weeks to give me an idea if I was infected

2. Would I have seen a condom break even with not inspecting it thoroughly and how odd to have remembered that thought of wow it feels like nothing is on?

3. With the briefness of the act being so quick does that eliminate some risk

4. her last sexual encounter would have been about 2.5 months before ours so this would have been a higher risk if exposed correct?

And finally I did tell her I need some time but we text some but I feel bad as my fear has gotten the best of me but I want to possibly continue to have some sort of support for her but i feel I have to get my crap together first. I will be back home in two weeks and want to be supportive of her as she has told no one else.

Arm/Wrist/hand :: Ulnar Shortening Osteotomy Questions

I am scheduled for an ulnar shortening osteotomy next Friday, and I am having panic attacks about the procedure so I figured I would ask others to share their experiences and maybe someone could answer some questions for me.

First, I am having this procedure due to my winning the genetic lottery and having an abnormally long ulna. This didn't start giving me pain until about a year ago. I woke up one morning and my right wrist hurt like I had slept on it wrong. When the pain didn't go away I went to a local urgent care to see if I possibly sprained it - I had been doing a lot of yoga at the time. They took x-rays, said it must be a strain or pulled muscle, gave me a splint and sent me on my way. For the last year I wore a brace on and off when my wrist gave me pain. The pain has never been constant, it comes and goes. The most disturbing thing about it is that when I rotate my wrist there is something in there that snaps and cracks - probably the TFCC, I learned from my research. I finally decided to see an orthopedist about my wrist as I figured it might be carpel tunnel from my office job. My ortho showed me the long ulna bone in the x-rays, which there is no denying - the ulna is visibly longer than the radius, even to an untrained eye. My MRI shows that there is wear on my TFCC, but no tear. I am developing cysts on my lunate bone, which is from the pressure from my long ulna. My doctor said that the way to fix this was the ulnar shortening osteotomy, which is coming next week.

My concerns about doing the surgery are varied. I am terrified of how much pain I might be in when I come out of the surgery. I know I will have painkillers, but I really don't want to stay on those for any longer than is necessary. I have read other boards about this and it seems like some people had more pain after the procedure than others. I am afraid that this will not be beneficial in the long run. I mentioned earlier that I enjoyed yoga, but my wrist pain has prevented me from doing yoga for the last year. Ultimately, I would like to be able to return to yoga, but since this surgery is essentially breaking my arm for me and then putting a plate in to hold it together, I have doubts about ever being able to return to yoga after this. I am also wondering if this is absolutely necessary. Like I said, the pain is not constant - it wasn't bothering me at all last week. However, since it's degenerative I imagine that this is not unusual, and that if I wait it will progress into being painful more often and that eventually my cartilage will tear. I am 31 years old, and while I don't consider this even close to being "old," it is also easier to bounce back from surgery the younger you are.

Lichen Sclerosus :: Spread / Symptoms / Treatment Questions

For the last couple of days I have been extremely itchy. The itching is mainly towards the bum and at the vaginal opening. I do

have a white patch at the vaginal opening but towards bum it is mostly red and feels bumpy. The itching is keeping me awake at night. I take baking soda baths, apply coconut oil and have a cream made up of 3% steroid and canes tan .  I am not on clob. Or Dermovate. So questions

What else can help the itching?

When LS is under control do symptoms stay away for a day, a week, or a month?

I was diagnosed in Oct 2015 and have issues almost everyday since when I have a day when I feel 'normal'. I could sing, fly jump with joy for the relief

Does clob help the itch?

Does LS spread more if it's not treated?

if it is treated will it stay more in one area.

Why Women Think Circumcision Is Better?

I estimate most of women do not care if a man is circumcised or not. After all, what do they fall in love with... the man or his penis? In my opinion women who claim that circumcision is better, who seem to prefer circumcision are insecure about their femininity and think that circ is a way of leveling the playing field.

Men :: Circumcision After Phimosis And HPV

I was diagnosed with both phimosis and HPV, so my urologist told me to get circumcised.

Being that HPV is something serious (an illness, after all) and that my foreskin always troubled me and my sex life in one way or another (I felt weird about how it looked and intercourse was uncomfortable and painful if not impossible), I decided to undergo surgery.

Today is my tenth post-op day.

I'm very anxious about how things are developing and what will be my sex life's future from now on. I've been dealing with so much stress, lately, due to this, not to mention that it was the first time I ever stepped on a clinic (I'm almost 30 years old, by the way).

There are certain things I already knew I should expect after the surgery, such as swelling, lymph discharge, purpleness, sprinkle-like pee, etcetera, which all subsided before the first week. I even went to my urologist's office and he checked me and said that everything was going ok.

I left his office without the piece of gauze I would put on every time I came out from the shower, and it did felt quite uncomfortable walking down the street. And it still does at some point. And that's one of the things that freak me out.

For instance, I'm just unable to figure out what's annoying me the most; I don't know whether it is the rubbing of the glans or the tip's slit against my underwear, or the small bruise I've got on the sulcus, or the stitches, or everything altogether! What drives me crazy it's not the fact that I'm going through a typical circumcision post-op, but the idea that everything will feel and stay and bother me this way forever!

I sometimes regret not having a foreskin anymore (although getting rid off HPV was somewhat worth it). But it's just that I feel so awkward and frustrated... It's not only my penis what feels weird, but also my movements: they are silly and limited and unnatural. I can't seem to walk straight and at a reasonable speed. Sitting down, standing up, such basic tasks are now almost impossible to accomplish.

I think of sex, or even masturbation, how will they be in a few weeks or months... And I feel so hopeless about that.

I mean, will my glans ever become desensitized enough to allow me to walk, act and move normally? It already started to shed (which doesn't scare me, since I expected it to happen), but I keep wondering if that has something to do with keratinization or anything like that.

The stitches sometimes hurt (specially during erections at night, which I also expected), but I'm not sure if they have something to do with swelling (I can't tell if my penis is swelled; it does look significantly different from what it was, but still I can't figure out what should be its final shape) or with the awful sensation of having something folded around my glans, like if I still have my foreskin half rolled back.

Well, again, I don't want to think about masturbation and sex now, because it isn't time for such things (I even do my best to keep any dirty thought away; and it's not difficult since my libido is currently on the basement, due to my anxiety). But someday stitches will fall apart (I was given those that dissolve on their own; yet, I wonder if they'll stay forever) and I will feel the urge to release myself, at least through masturbation, and I'm scared that I won't know how to handle my new body... Not to mention sex with a partner. What if she is not patient enough or something?

Phimosis Cure Without Circumcision

I am 20, i am suffering through partial phimosis where i am able to retract my foreskin when its flaccid but cannot do so when its erect. I noticed that i might have short frenulum where it is attached to my foreskin and is attached to the tip of the penis head right where the urethra hole is.

Although i don't suffer any pain while urinating or while erection but it pains trying to forcefully retract foreskin while erect.

I strongly don't want to go for circumcision or surgery. Please help regarding the methods. Are there any creams available in india OTC. I am losing my self confidence, will it create problem during sex even with a condom?

Pregnancy :: Circumcision - Get It Or Regret It?

When your son was born did you get your son circumcised and later regretted it?    Did you have another son and opted NOT to circumcise him?

I have one boy and he is circumcised, then a few days post circumcision I deeply regretted it seeing how it looked as it was healing.  After 5 mos it healed, but he did experience penile adhesion which I had to gently pull the skin back over the course of 2 weeks so as not to cause him great discomfort.  I felt bad for having him circumcised during that time, but after that all was well.  My sister had gone through the same thing with her son, and we corrected the penile adhesion before it was completely fused.  Now my dilemma is, I'm greatly concerned about going through this again if I should have another son (my gut feeling tells me I'm having a boy) and I dont want to get him circumcised, however my husband feels differently.  And I told him to research the pros and cons so he can make an informed decision.  Instead of just saying "it looks better".

Does anyone else have  at least two boys, one who is circumcised and one who isn't?

Penis :: Bulge Below My Circumcision

I have noticed that in the area from a few mm below my circumsision to below my head on the left side there is a bulge. This bulge is a rounded area. The colour is a little lighter at the point which comes out furthest from the rest of my penis. It does not always occur, and can be removed by squeezing the enlarged circular area. When erect it appears normal. I tried pe stretching a few months ago and did feel a sharp pain, then I stopped. I am unsure if it correlated to that. I can not remember exactly when it began. It is not painful. And has been occuring for months. I mastubate once daily. Thank you for your time. 15 male white
