Skin :: Chronic Dermatitis? Sore/ Boil Won't Heal After A Year

Dec 21, 2012

I've had this sore on my inner thigh groin area that will. not. heal. I have seen 2 doctors and a dermatologist. No infection. No MRSA. It's just a sore that's about an inch 1/2 long and a 1/2 inch wide. You can feel all the scar tissue underneath and when it gets irritated it swells up. Then hurts. Then drains puss and blood. Then starts the process over. I've been on 4 different antibiotics (which I don't understand since there's no infection) they've put me on hormones (birth control) to see if that's what is causing it. It's this gross purple scar and it hurts and it won't heal. This has been going on for almost exactly a year! A whole year!!!! Doctor's have no idea what it is so my dermatologist diagnosed it as chronic dermatitis.

Skin :: Pimples Who Won't Heal

I have suffered from pimples since early youth, but getting less and less by the years and no big harm to the skin today. Recently I have gotten 2 pimple-like skin infections where there is a typical infection under the skin. These can hurt pretty bad, but retain a pretty small size. They grow extremely slowly, and end up almost as a small hole or gap in the skin. They are far from visible to anyone else than me and my eyes, but I get worried it might somehow be a signal of weakness to the immune system in some way.

-They first appear like small soars/pimples and do no harm.

-They get gradually more and more infected and really hurt at some point where it feels wrong not to squeeze them.

-After several months they heal, but not completely. There is almost no blood at all.

I have struggled with hairs growing inside the skin, creating infection, but as soon as the hair is removed they heal quickly. In these cases I get the pimples on the foreleg or on my arms, which has not happened ever before. When checking the pimples there no sign of hairs in it. Could this be anything else?

GERD (acid Reflux) :: Chronic Sore Throat - LPR? LSN?

I have had a chronic sore throat for 5 months now. Initially thought it was strep, but test came back negative. Was tested for allergies, negative. Have had 3 ENTs scope my throat and all say it looks completely normal. Have been to two GIs who weren't particularly helpful, though one prescribed Nortriptyline thinking it might be a sensory neuropathy -- have been taking it for 2.5 months with no help (was at 20mg and ENT had me start raising by 10mg per at 30mg, and tomorrow will begin 40mg). Was at the ER twice -- CT scan normal, blood tests normal. I have also restricted my diet to the Kaufman diet to little avail. After I eat I do notice that I'm a little "burpy" and can taste bile sometimes, which makes me think LPR (though the ENTs say there's no sign of it in the scopes). I also have an occasional chest pain that I think is an esophageal spasm, again making me think LPR/GERD. I was on PPIs for about ten years and slowly weaned myself off after a few months of this since they didn't seem to be helping. Have been off the PPIs for over a month taking H2s (40mg Pepcid 2 x day) . Oh, and I've also tried DGL..not much help.

So I'm stumped, and so are my docs. I really like and trust my current ENT, and he is genuinely trying to help. After a few more weeks of increasing the nortriptyline he is going to refer me for the acid testing where they put the probes in your throat.

So, does anyone have any brilliant thoughts on what might be going on? The pain is significant (some days are worse than others), and it feels particularly bad after giving presentations, which I do frequently. I can't stand the thought of this lasting a whole lot longer, and at this point worry that it could be something more serious.

Chronic Peeling Skin On My Hands / Finger Tips

I have been having an issue with peeling skin on my hands, more so on my finger tips. I have seen my family doctor many times regarding the issue and have tried steroids cream, antifungal cream, standard moisturizers have been used plenty. I have been having this issue for about 2 years, no time of year is worst than others, the only thing that makes it worst is the shower.

There is no pain when the skin peels, It seems like little white blisters that are not filled with anything rise to the surface and the skin tears away. The peeling starts sometimes in the corner by my nails on each side and spreads to the center.

Sometimes it starts right in the middle by the nail and spreads. When this all started it was only on my small finger and then all my finger and now my whole hand. It comes and goes in cycles, I did visit a dermatologist and was told that there was nothing she could do as it was an auto-immune problem.

BUT I sometimes get a strange feeling on upper left thigh, (the worst knee), as if it is wet but when I touch the skin it is totally dry! Happens after I have been standing for a couple of hours.Also, sometimes the skin feels sore, but there is no evidence to show. Has anyone had similar feelings?.

Hemorrhoids :: Boil On Butthole?

I think i have a boil on my butthole and i don't know how to solve this. I'm not sure what it actually is. It hurts when i sit down and it looks like a white bump when i checked it out myself. It hurts to touch too and the butthole stays enlarged after i clean myself after going to the bathroom. It doesn't stay enlarged all day though only for like 5 minutes after i use the bathroom and clean up. What do i do? This was probably my fault because i probably had an ingrown hair and didn't shave right. I'm scared and want it to be gone. It has been here for one week but it looks worse than it did last week.

Acne :: Boil On Scrotum

I'm 16 and I have some kind of boil on my scrotum that's been bothering me for about a year. Sometimes it's hard, sometimes, it's soft and I would like to know what it exactly is. I also get lots of boils in my inner thigh region as well. I usually just rub Bengay on them for temporary relief. They're very common and I'm kind of embarrassed to tell my doctor because I have one testicle. I feel like him looking at it while I have one testicle will trigger a lot questions.

My sister also experiences these boils in her inner thigh and has a massive boil or cyst it may be in her armpit. It's kind of the boil/cyst I have on my scrotum. Her doctor one day attempted to draw out some of the fluid for testing but since the boil was to hard, he didn't get deep enough to draw any fluid. This was a really painful process for my sister and it still is. My brother had run ins in the past with boils when he was younger showing up on his buttocks. So to conclude everything, I need answers, quick.

Corneal Laceration? How Long It Takes To Heal

I am male 23 year old. I recently had a corneal laceration while playing. The ball hit directly and broke my eyeglasses. The doctor sutured the lacerated cornea with stitches and has put me on eye drops. It's been a week now and I still have blurry vision in the injured eye. I don't expect such fast recovery but how long can it take ?

Can anyone tell me if I will ever become normal or at least chances of being with normal vision again ?  The doctor says it will be recovered but can take up to 2 to 3 months.

Mosquito/ant Bites Took Too Long To Heal, And Is Still Itchy After Healing

I have had this condition where when I am bit by something, may it be mosquito or ant bites, a small blister forms around it. It is extremely itchy, and when popped, the blistered area is ulcerated. Now it does not become painful at all, but becomes more itchy. when scratched, it rarely bleeds, but becomes itchier even when the skin is obviously more damaged. When I stop scratching, the area releases clear, very slightly yellowish liquid (i'm assuming it's some sort of antibody the body releases), and it takes a VERY long time to heal.Now when i do leave it alone, it heals up and becomes brown, but the scar is still very, VERY itchy, even if fully healed.I have been researching the internet to what it may be for days now, and I have not found what it is. I have used anti-bacterial creams but it does not help. I am not sure if this could be a parasite, or could be fungal.

Lichen Sclerosus :: Heal With Diet Of Unprocessed Food

I have just been diagnosed with Ls ! . Took a while but took myself to the local sexual clinic as my dr and nurse kept treating me for thrush !!! Knew it wasn't  !!. I had diagnosed myself from reading the Internet !. Was happy to know finally what was wrong ! But nhs paints a unrealistic picture of it ! From when you start reading the other , real info about it ! About how horrible , painful , disfiguring it can be ! Not to mention ruining your sex life . And the risk of skin cancer !. At first it really freaked me out !. Then I thought right you bug ( as that is how it feels ! Like a bug burying under your skin and making me itch like my hubby does at night before he goes to sleep ! Lol. It found its way in to my body and I am going to make sure I find away to get it out !!. It is all new to me so at the moment I am reading like mad !. I understand that it comes from an unbalanced system ! They say that your gut is your second brain so I am going to start with healing my gut  !. I am taking probiotics , also you need to clean out heavy metals ! That cause your body to be toxic ! So you need rose hip and then L-glutamine to heal leaky gut .  They say skin conditions are a body screaming out , I am toxic !. So heal with diet of unprocessed foods , relaxation ! Genital Wart ? Painless Boil On The Vagina

Around 6 months back, I had a painless, flesh colored boil in the outer lips of my vagina (pubic area), which I ignored assuming it was an ingrown hair. Now around three days back, I got another boil (slightly bigger than the first one) on the public area itself.

I've had only one sexual partner, and never had sex with him without a condom. I am scared of what it is though, can it be a genital wart?

Small Boil On The Inside Of My Nose Led To Sarcoidosis

Well I had a small boil on the inside of my nose for months and it just wouldn't go away. I visited my NHS Dr who prescribed some cream, nothing happened - he advised to continue using it and suggested perhaps getting it cut off. Anyway I visited the Dr at work who advised getting it cut off which I thought would be end of it. But to my dismay they did a biospy on it and found out it was Sarcoidosis. My mum has this so I was aware of it. I was devasted. This followed with CT scans, lung test, blood test which confirmed Sarcoidosis on the lungs and enlarged nymph nodes. After a long consultation it was decided not to treat it yet as I had no other systems. But a couple of months later I developed a cough, two months later I am still coughing and on exertion (netball albiet quite a bit of running around) I end up having a sort of ashtma attack. Anyway to cut a long story short this is all related and have been prescribed steriods and some other stuff to counteract the side effects. I am really reluctant to take them but after reading the different views on this site with all the different effect I feel I should start taking them (waiting for the NHS to reluctantly prescribe them) before it gets worse. I am wondering now if I have had this for ages as the symptoms of tiredness, aching neck and shoulders I have always had but just thought it was me. My mum was diagnosed 20 years or so ago and it has only just flared up again but in the bones of her ankle. She has trouble breathing which they have said is asthma...
