Night Leg Cramps Increased In Both Legs After Injections For Disc Treatment

Nov 12, 2014

I have had injections in my back because i have disc problems. i used to suffer from cramp occasionally but after the above procedure in Oct 2014 the night leg cramps increased in both legs, which leave me limping for a day or so. I have started to massage both my legs with any oil though preferably olive oil or black seed oil and i have noticed a great improvement. i have not suffered from cramps since i started doing this every night.

Disc Prolapse :: Facet Joint / Epidural Injections Experience

Just had my procedure and in recovery now, waiting to be discharged!

I have severe prolapse of L4/L5 with bilateral impingement of nerve roots. This results in severe back pain and constant sciatica. Worse on my right side.

Whole process took less than half an hour and I feel just fine after. Was offered sedative, but refused as I'm personally cool with stuff like this and very relaxed/able to keep still.

Very little pain during the actual procedure. In fact the worst bit was the initial injection of local anaesthetic!

Hip Replacement :: Irritable Legs At Night In Bed

I've posted a few days ago about not been able to sleep at night. I find it difficult to sleep on my back and cannot keep my legs flat so I tend to sleep with either my operated leg s knee raised or both knees raised.

Not sure why this is happening but I read until really tired and then try to sleep. As soon as I lay in my sleeping position my legs start moving about almost uncontrollably. They can't find a comfy position I have to readjust pillows etc and it can be hours by the time they stop.

Being sleep deprived is exhausting I'm now on day 10. I've tried sleeping tablets but I still go through the same procedure with my legs.

Arms And Legs Weakness - Anxiety? Muscle Atrophy Or Disc Degeneration

My arms and legs feel tired/weak/exhausted for the past month and 2 weeks. Feels like as if I did a gym session or been out in town all day/night and legs feel like they want to drop. I am also tense and have been diagnosed with anxiety a year back. It scares me a lot too and i want to feel normal again.

I went to a neurosurgeon and couldn't find anything wrong with my whole spine after checking the MRI. Just mild disc degeneration.

He thinks it may be anxiety. I've just moved countries, and no job and haven't been doing anything for months on end, and just been lazing about, no exercise and eating not too healthy, smoking, and drinking 4 coffees a day. I have been stressed out lately and I feel I need to have a diagnosis. Is it anxiety/stress related? Is it muscle atrophy? (due to me lazing about and doing nothing for 3 months)

I've been to 3 different neurosurgeons with all similar answers, Been doing physio on my lower back, and been exercising every day for the past 2 weeks. Been taking no medication (which I don't want to).

Can anyone relate with me? Or have an idea? or which specialists I should visit?

Statins And Fibrates - Severe Leg Cramps At Night

I have tried all the above.  The cholesterol went down from 9 to 5 but at a price: severe leg cramps at night, muscle pain in legs (and arms?), heat sensation in lower legs, severe constipation, insomnia etc.

This has been going on for the last 6-7 years.  Want to stop altogether.  I am also on 75mg aspirin which I have to take with Omeprazole to prevent stomach bleed. Otherwise healthy 64yo.   Does anyone have some wise words to share?

Quinine For Leg Cramps Works - 200 Mg Tablet Every Other Night

I was having leg cramps in calf and thigh 2 to 3 times nightly. It took 10 to 15 minutes of walking around and massaging for relief. Obviously becoming sleep deprived. My doctor started me on 200 mg quinine nightly, increasing to 300 mg if necessary. Within days my muscle cramps diminished. At the end of one month they were gone. The immediate relief was astonishing. I have been on quinine for over a year now. As a preventive dose, I take one 200 mg tablet every other night which seems to be sufficient. If I get an occasional cramp, I take the tablets every night for a few days.

I tried drinking quinine water (Schweppes tonic carbonated water) as a substitute - but was unable to drink that much carbonated water daily. Wasn't able to try it long enough to see if it would help by itself. It had worked for a friend of mine who wanted me to try it.

I have had no side effects from the quinine. I would highly recommend trying quinine if you are having night cramps.

No Treatment From Cramps - Tried Everything Over Last 20 Years

i realise people are trying to be helpful but when it is said "i promise you or i guarantee you the cramps will stop if you take xyz...." i just tune out.  i have seen several specialists over the last 15-20 years without relief and last chance trying a muscle expert in the next couple of weeks.  started a diary of the amounts and types of cramps experiencing to give the doc a little picture of my life.  at 65 i can unhappily say i will not be here for a long time if i cannot get relief and a decent night's sleep.  at the moment i am lucky if i can get an 1 1/2 at a time before i am up under the shower or using a powerful hairdryer to heat the muscles into relaxing.  i am not depressed and have attempted throughout my life to put troubles behind and move forward positively.  Our children are all grown up and happy with their own family.   If this is my reality of life now my husband understands exactly how i feel and my desperation to find relief and peace.

Bowel Disorders :: Diarrhea And Abdominal Cramps At Night

Throughout the past weekend I had begun getting abdominal cramps & becoming rather gassy. Yet, I thought nothing of the cramps, believing they just had something to do with my period then. On Saturday night, I had woken up with diarrhea accident & went to the bathroom only to have more yellow very watery stool. I tried to go back to bed, but it just happened again & worse. Sunday I slept in all day, and by the evening I had lost much of my appetite and ate just fruits, yogurt, cheese hotdogs & water. Monday I was relatively fine, I was more sluggish & tired than usual and didn't have an appetite. That whole day I only ate string cheese, salami pieces, butter on toast & ribs. I also drank a bit of milk. I realized that this milk was expired by a day only after I drunken it. I drank allot of milk on Saturday so that may be the issue. Thus, I drank a few glasses of another (non expired) milk carton. While I thought it was gone, it proved me wrong. Last night the same thing happen, yet not as bad.

Could this be due to the expired milk? Could I be lactose intolerant?

Chronic Pain :: Stiffness And Cramps In Legs

For the past years, I've been taking 5 tabs of Methocarbamol 750 mg. along with 600 mg.(6 caps) of Gabapentin during supper and right before going to the bed, because I have not only leg cramp and spasm but also nerve pain on my legs. Those two meds. have been alleviating my pains that mostly occur during sleep, ... specifically during early morning hours before getting up from the bed.

Prior to those two meds. I had an excruciating and unspeakable pains that waking me up in the middle of the nights lasted about 10 minutes or so. Furthermore, the pains made all over my body sweat like taking hot bath, because of excruciating and unspeakable pain. Those nights, I self-exercised stomping, and often back and forth legs on hard floor in trying to subside the pains.

However, despite maximum doses of two pain meds., I still have been experiencing 'stiffness' along with 'pain' on my legs, some mornings before getting up from the bed.

Is there any good meds. for me more to manage and first of all control muscle spasms and cramps on my both legs?

Disc Prolapse :: Spinal Disc Decompression For Central Disc Bulge In L5/S1

I have been experiencing the lower back pain which is local from last 5 years. My MRI reports says that there is a central disc bulge at l5/s1. Where outer annular tear is intact.

I have seen a chiropractor who has recommended spinal disc decompression sessions on Hill DT.

As per the doctor, it will relocate the disc back to its normal position and make the disc healthier as before.

Just would like to know if someone has gone for the similar treatment for the similar problem. If yes kindly share your experience.

Undiagnosed :: Muscle Cramps With Stinging Pain In My Calf And Legs

For the past couple months I experience sharp, stinging (or maybe burning) pain in my calf, usually right leg but sometimes left too.

I've been walking long distances my whole life and never had cramps before. Been doing some reading and so far symptoms fits cramps.

I have lately been walking really long distances on occasion.

I have the pain happening at night. I wake up with badly aching leg (calf muscle) and need some time time for it to lessen, sometimes I fall asleep seconds later and when I wake up the muscle is stiff and painful. It's also bit painful/sensitive at touch on other days too.
