Polycystic Ovary Syndrome :: Terrible Acne And Unwanted Hair

I'm 23 and was diagnosed with PCOS this year. From the age of 12 until 21 I only had 2 periods a year but for the past 2 years I have had a period every month sometimes 2 in a month. But I have terrible acne and facial hair which makes me feel horrible as a young female. I feel like I keep finding hair in every place it should not be for a female and it it really brings me down. I think this is what causes the spots on my face because it's where the hair is trying to get through. I may be wrong. My weight is not great but that is because of bad eating habits I've picked up from feeling down and unhappy. I have been doing exercise and trying to eat better.

But the weight is just not shifting. My DR is useless he basically printed off a 6 page leaflet about PCOS which had everything I already ready knew and then said but your not trying for a family right now so ur fine. I just feel like I have no one to talk to as it's an embarrassing problem to just talk to anyone about.

Acne :: Under Nose And Chin Area

17(almost 18)y/girl. I have a (BIG) problem with acne. My forehead and my cheeks look great, but my nose, the area under my nose and especially my chin look awful. I tried several things, but my pimples don't disappear. When a pimple almost disappeared another 1 or 2 appear. My confidence is low because of this and I sometimes I'm depressed because of it.

Maybe it's that my T zone is kind of oily, but my cheeks are normal. Like during the day I can feel that the T zone is oily, especially the chin.

I don't know what to do anymore. I am tired of concealer and foundation.

Please tell me your thoughts but please don't say stuff like go to the doctor.

Anxiety :: Only Inderal? Terrible Tremors

I noticed tremors on my body since I was 12. But it was mild tremors that I didn't care about. But since November 2014 my tremors got worse and now I have tremors all over my body. For example, when I try to do abs my trunk starts to tremble, when I lift my legs against the gravity, they start to tremble a lot, when I try to smile my face trembles, when I'm with my friends and try to drink some tea from a tea cup my hand and my head starts to tremble, and I feel that my neck and my head will start to tremble if I move in a "No" movement, and sometimes when I am in a place with lots of people my legs starts to shake and I get very embarrassed about that and they start to shake even more. So I went to a neurologist and I showed to him the positions that I tremble and my situation, and he said that some people has more physiologic tremor than others (even though I think that I have essential tremor), and he had to give me something for the anxiety, but I tremble a lot, and when I'm cold my body trembles a lot (a lot more than normal people). He gave me Inderal 10 mg to take 3 times a day . But it's not working on controlling my anxiety. I also tried to take 20mg and it didn't work as well and I'm not having side effects too. But the problem is I get anxious because of my tremors and not the opposite . If I had no tremors, I wouldn't have a reason to be anxious.  I already went to the only 2 neurologists that I have on my city and only the second one gave me some medication. I really want this tremors to stop. I know he gave me that dosage because the anxiety makes the tremors worse but not even for the anxiety it's working. And I'm going to work out of my country with people that I don't talk and I will get very embarrassed with this tremors... So what should I do?

Menstruation :: Vomiting, Diarrhea And Terrible Cramps On The 1st Day

i'm 18 years old and on the first day of my period i have a terrible cramping, if i don't take nimesulide 100 mg when i feel the first signs (usual painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen don't do anything, even in high dosage) then then i get diarrhea and even vomit, and the pain seems almost unbearable. I'm a virgin, if it has any importance. Is there a way to stop this, or will i have to take nimesulide every month? (By the way is that safe to use it that frequently?) Even if i take it, it takes 1-2 hours to have an effect, if i don't take it early enough, then even more.

Diabetes :: Metformin - Terrible Side Effects

I have been prescribed this med called Metformin and I hate it!  It's worse than the diabetes!  I have diarrhea so bad that I can be sleeping and then wake up to a mess in my bed!!!!  I was horrified when I found I messed my sheets and my husband was sleeping in bed as well!!  I ended up rolling the sheets up and while he was sleeping, move him over them to get the nasty thing from the bed.  I am glad he didn't question why our sheet was missing!!  I also feel sick on this medication and it is something I  just don't want to be on anymore.  Has anyone else been on Metformin and had this happen to them?  Have you had any terrible side effects like losing control of your bowels?  What other side effects can occur on this dreaded stuff?

Tooth Abscess - Terrible Toothache Under A Crown

I've got terrible toothache under a crown on an upper back molar ... wonderful kind dentist has drilled through crown and "cleaned it out" and put me on 1,500 mg amoxicillin per day for 7 days - going back next week, hopefully for root canal. My problem is, I expected to feel BETTER after yesterday;s "clean out" of roots and starting antibiotics but awake half the night last night in terrible pain and felt far too ill to go to work.  Pain is making me cry!  Taking Nurofen "migraine strength" ibuprofen & lysine and oddly, swilling with boiling hot salt water provides relief even though I can feel throbbing.  Has anyone been here?  Can anyone tell me what to expect?  I don't want to bother dentist if I dont have to as he's already been absolutely fantastic and I feel such a wimp ... but must try to get back to work.

Diabetes :: Swollen Ankles And Terrible Pain

My Father in law (72) is suffering terribly with his legs.

Had Diabetes for years but just recently his ankles have swollen terribly and he can hardly stand or walk. For someone used to being active, it's been a terrible time for him.

I watched him try to stand the other day and it looked complete agony. He can't understand why no-one can tell him what is wrong, doctors are saying "it's your diabetics, you have to expect it"...

His doctor won't give him extra pain management because he says it will impact his other medication, but I just don't see how he can continue with all this pain. How we get the best treatment as I don't think he is getting it at the moment.

Sigmoidoscopy :: Pain And Terrible Cramping - Why Not Sedation?

Had Sigmoidoscopy yesterday and would need to be dragged kicking and screaming before having another! The hospital staff were lovely, I was given an enema before the doctor came to speak to me about what he was about to do. He was very nice and reassuring so up to then, all was going well. Then I was taken to the treatment room where I was asked to lie on my left side on a bed which had sides on (to prevent escape ha ha) and the procedure started. Boy oh boy, the pain I experienced was terrible cramping all over my abdomen like I had never experienced before (even child birth wasn't as bad as this). The nurses kept reassuring me and asking me to take deep slow breaths but this did not help and eventually having been unable to cope with it anymore, the doctor agreed to stop but did take two biopsies. However, because it was too painful for me to allow him to go any further, he said he was 20 cm short of where he wanted to see. Now here's the question. Why on earth don't they just put the patient under total sedation? This way no pain is caused to them, the doctor can look at the area he needs to see and all in all, every one happy. It seems a waste of time to me to put people through such agony when there is a simple solution. The doctor is unable to perform a full examination because it is too painful for the patient so its not cost effective, its cruel and it's a waste of everyone's time!

Lansoprazole :: Producing Terrible Saliva And Persistent Mucus

I am 29 M, have asthma and suffer with anxiety. Started getting bad asthma 2 months ago when playing football and this continued every time I played/ did exercise. Went to docs after a month and was given seretide preventor. After a week of slightly improved asthma I started getting really bad indigestion, gas, acid reflux. Never had this before so considering my anxiety -I am scared!

Went back to docs last week and he has given me Lansoprazole and sent me for blood test, stool test tomorrow. But the LANs while it has helped with acid, I'm now getting chronic, consistent, persistent mucus, which is driving me to distraction and horrible feeling in my throat just below Adam's apple. I'm convinced there is something drastically wrong with me. My wife thinks it's my anxiety and probably not a serious condition but having never had reflux to then have it ALL the time for 2.5 weeks I'm terrified.

Can anyone offer any help or advice? Has anyone had mucus with LANs? Is 3 days of LANs enough to know whether it is going to work fully or not?

Migrain? Tension Headache? Terrible Head Pain

For over 2 years I have suffered from terrible headaches. There was no particular trigger that I can think of that began this concurring issue, just waking up one day and never really having it permanently  leave. My symptoms are as follows:-

1. Terrible head pain. The funny thing is, it never stays in one spot for too long. Sometimes I feel it in the back of my skull. At others on the top of my head. Still it will shift from left temple to my forehead. My jaws sometimes get tight, but no clicking noises on opening or closing them.

2. Sometimes lightheadedness comes with these headaches. Not always. Its more like a brain fog after waking up from a nap.

3. Sometimes I wake up with the headaches, other days I wake up feeling great for about 30 minutes.

4. Sometimes there is relief from getting up and moving around. Sometimes moving makes it worse or triggers it. It shows up with rest, or sometimes with physical activity.

There is no great pattern to this. Sometimes doing an action such as going for a jog will take away all the pain and I feel great, and other days it just is too unbearable to exercise. Pain meds don't really do a whole lot in terms of helping me. I have had CAT scans, blood work, PT, and so much more. I really have no idea where to even go from here. The headaches aren't always present, more like 80% of my day. I work out 6 days a week, even if the pain is there or not. It wasn't always that way, the first year of my headaches I didn't want to do anything and gained some unwanted weight, but I came to the conclusion that I can be fat with headaches or in shape with headaches. I work in the military, so half my day is at a computer and the other half is pretty physical. I am 33, male, 5'7" 155 pounds. I love life and would not call myself a victim of depression, although this headache stuff is getting pretty annoying.

Lichen Sclerosus :: Terrible Pain All Over Vulva Area

I've been in really agonising pain for 12 weeks now. At first I thought it was an infected tear so was prescribed Amoxicillin which did help with the soreness of the skin, but it was the dreadful aching all over the vulva area that just continued.Three visits to dermatologist during that time and I eventually ended up in A&E I was in so much pain I could barely walk.I was examined thoroughly by a Gynaecologist Registrar The upshot of that A&E visit and the 3 Dermatologist visits resulted in them deciding it was Vulvodynia, and I've been prescribed 15mg Amitriptyline and to gradually introduce 300mg  Gabapentin daily. Co-codamol 4 times daily and Oramorph when needed. Presently I'm up to 200mg Gabapentin and 15 mg  Amitriptyline but it doesn't seem to help much yet. Does anyone know how long it can take to help with the pain? I've been on 10 mg Amitriptyline for 16 years and it's always helped but not this time. I'm at the end of my tether and spending most of the time in the house because it's so agonising and really difficult to walk about. Does anyone have any ideas how long these medications can take to kick-in?

Multiple Sclerosis :: Terrible Balance And Tingling And Numbness In My Hands?

I am 25 years old and have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands and feet for about a month now. I've also had all of a sudden urges to pee. And frequent trips to pee at night. I also get " Charlie horses" in my back on one side at a time. And it goes back and forth between the sides for about an hour usually at a time. Sometimes I can get 2 or 3 episodes in my back per day. Also I will get very dizzy and black out. Knowing my eyes are open but can't see anything. I've always been known as clumsy and tripping over nothing. I have terrible balance. I've also in the past couple days have noticed my legs are very weak and I have an unexplained tired feeling constantly. I have an MR I next week to see if I have any lesions on my brain or spinal cord. I have not been diagnosed with MS but the more I read up the more it sounds like me.
