I have a 2008 GX and when the car is in drive and being stopped/held in place with the brakes, it makes a squealing noise, sounds like a loose belt but I don't think it is as it is coming from the transmission area, BEHIND the engine.
View 3 RepliesThe brakes surge with more power when the brake pedal is held at a constant pressure. My guess it has to do with the brake booster. But normally a failing booster would result in less braking ability not more.
View 2 Replieswhen i initially purchased "used " my 08 gs350 i had a problem with brake squeal. I kept taking it in to the dealer until they ended up changing front rotors , all 4 pads , and new shims .
Took my car into my usual mechanic to get an oil change. I knew i needed brake pads and he changed all four pads out for $350 .I am having a terrible time with brake squeal now. the mechanic is telling me that i have warped rotors and need to replace all four. He is telling me that he wont charge me labor, but the parts will cost $400.00 I goggled the cost of the parts and he isnt far off on the price . My concern is that his fix isnt the correct fix. Front what i can tell its the front rotors making all the racket.
What should i do ??I dont know if they re-installed the shims and have no idea what kind of pads were used . Thinking about taking it to the dealership and being done with it .
I have a 2014 IS350 F Sport, I'm at 26k miles. My brakes are squealing and scrapping. Is it time to get new brakes already? How hard is it to do on this car? I've changed brakes on other cars!
View 5 RepliesI have 2013 GS350 I bought in October with 5k miles. Currently I have 14,500 miles on it today.
Every time I have a cold start on the car, When driving at low speeds and braking, it has a loud squealing noise. Once the car has been running and driving, it goes away and doesn't came back unless I park the car and get back in an hour or so later. I went to the dealer and the guy said it's "normal", said moisture gets in and needs a few minutes break apart and that's how Lexus designs their cars. Which is believe is BS.

I took it back into the shop and told them about the brakes squealing and rattle. They told me my rotors were glazed so I should replace them. Thought it was fixed, until I got home and still had the squeal and the rattle. I guess they can't seem to duplicate the problem but this is what my brakes sound like when I brake, or go over bump while braking: [URL]......

View 9 RepliesI've had the Treg for about 3.5 months now and at about 1500 miles I started to have intermittent squealing from the brakes. Now at 2300 its constant. I brought it to the dealer and of course all I get is the usual BS they feed everyone... brake pads today don't use asbestos and so the metal squeaks...blah, blah... total crap. No OEM brakes should squeal (let alone on a $40k vehicle) and its never been a problem with other cars with original pads. Is there a solution?

May not be relevant, but this is a minivan modified for wheelchair access via a ramp that comes out on the passenger side.

View 10 RepliesI have a horrendous squealing noise coming from one of my rear wheels. Sounds bad at low speeds, changes frequency to higher pitch when going faster. The sound isn't constant (some times nothing), other times loud as hell. Sometimes gets worse when turning, then nothing when straightened out. When breaking, sometimes the sound gets worse, then goes away. It doesn't sound like a bad wheel bearing (had one go before- more of a growly noise). This sound is too high pitched. Also, checked the brake pads (plenty of life left), and rotors are good too.

View 6 RepliesAfter replacing my brake pads and shoes I am hearing a squealing noise coming from the area near my brake pedal. This noise sometimes becomes high pitched if I depress the brake too hard. I am also losing a little bit of brake fluid if I depress the pedal hard several times. The brakes themselves function fine and have no problem stopping. When I bled the brakes today some of the fluid was black. I figured it might be air in the system but after bleeding them it is still happening. I also replaced the bleeder screws.
1997 Pontiac Sunfire 2.4L uses DOT 3 brake fluid.
Our 2010 Toyota Camry makes a squealing noise as we back out of our garage.Does this mean we new rear brakes?
View 15 Replies2005 F-250 6.0 4x4. After about 50,000 miles on my original brakes, they started to make a squealing noise when applying moderate brake pressure and slowing down around 30mph-0mph. It only happens after Ive driven the truck about 30 mins. It must be warmed up. After 100,000 I decided to change the brakes.....they had plenty of life left on them, but I changed them anyway. I put on new rotors and pads and calipers in the front because one was hanging.
After about 10,000 miles, the exact same squeal has returned. With the windows down, its loud enough to physically hurt your ears if you are next to a car and the sound can bounce back into the cab. It sounds terrible. I thought it was the front brakes, so I took them apart this weekend to put in some Disc Brake Quiet. They pads look great, plenty left, the rotors look great, no grooves. Everything is tight. I relubed pins and brackets and clips. Today...same squeal still. I am at a complete loss here. It is some sort of harmonic squeal and the only thing I can figure is that the rears are the culprit. I have a drivers rear caliper that will hang and stick if you drive it really hard, so I am considering replacing the rear calipers too and do the disc brake quiet treatment there as well. Im not confident this will solve the problem.
Like I said, its so loud you can't drive with the windows down. Its a piercing squeal. Is there anything else that I can check? I can't imagine others don't do this. Its so loud and pronounced that it must be some sort of design flaw or something.
I have a 94 Sonoma SLS, V6/auto that has a weird problem of not restarting after I stop for fuel or at the house for a few minutes. The engine will crank normally but acts like it isn't getting fuel. I have had the fuel pump replaced already and I just replaced the fuel pump relay. I additionally replaced the coolant sensor(long shot there) when I replaced the radiator due to a leak.
View 3 RepliesOk this just started and it has to do with brakes in a way----the Noise is the sound of when you are deflating a balloon (the squeaking sound). Its under the dash area and I can make it do it if I press on the brake pedal and let off it will make the squealing sound. Some times it will do it on its own just driving along without even hitting the breaks, but when it DOES start doing it I can make it do the noise constantly pushing the brake pedal down and then letting off!!!
View 10 RepliesOkay so this is strange. There is a metal grinding/dragging noise coming from the rear passenger side of the car. I have a '05 GX470 with air suspension. On the first look I don't appear to be dragging anything and everything looks good with the brakes. I also noticed the noise persists after stopping sometimes but when I shift to neutral it disappears. So here is my list of suspects:
- Eroded muffler (there was an exhaust leak)
- Air suspension because I don't know anything about it
- Differentials
- Transmission
Anything else I missed?

I did as PearlPower suggested and sprayed it with some WD-40 (the top center pulley area) and the noise stopped, but not for very long. Think I need a new belt.
When my heat or air conditioner is running it makes noises (loud squeaks and squeals). The only way for it to stop is if I run the heat/ air conditioner at the lowest setting. Right now its cold but if I don't run it at the lowest setting, the sound is loud and really annoying... I thought it was maybe a loose cabin filter but I checked that and its fine. Where is it coming from?
Driving a 2006 Lexus GS 300 AWD,
The water pump was the culprit for the noise. So my 2013 gs350 with just over 40k miles started making a clicking and squealing noise during start up and while driving. I took a video of the noise when started cold without the a/c on.
I've already taken it in to the dealer for service but out of curiously, what the problem may be? I'll provide an update after the the dealer completes service.
