Passat - Volkswagen :: Random Honking And Lights Flashing After Car Parked For 1 - 2 Hours

I have a 1998 VW Passat station 1.81 Turbo that has started to do something weird. After driving the car, after the car has been parked for 1-2 hours, the car's horn starts honking and the lights start flashing- all this for 20 seconds (approx). We don't have a remote clicker to the car, or after market alarm, so it is not an accidental hit on the button. This started a week ago, and was once a day, now sometimes it is 2 x a day. We purchased this car from our landlord who will buy it back at the end of our stay. We have already replaced clutch and fixed numerous oil leaks. What could cause this?

Second dead battery in 2 years. ??? Car never sits for longer than 12 hours and no internal lights on. I have a III with Sunroof.

My car horn starts honking and the lights start flashing, spontaneously. The neighbors are going to kill me if I don't die of sleep deprivation first. The problem started a few minutes after 6 a.m. yesterday, and stopped when I turned the car on I left the car running in the driveway (illegally) and then cut it off after about 30 minutes, and all was quiet until around 8:45 a.m., when it started again. The only way I can get it to stop is to press the UNLOCK button on the car's remote; but that doesn't make it quit for good, sometimes only makes it quit for a few seconds.
Anyway, I drove the car to work and it was nice and quiet all day. (I went by the mechanic's on the way to work and had to set an appt. for Monday but I don't think I can stand it until then. This morning the honking/flashing began at 1:52 a.m. I pushed the remote. It stopped until 2:08. It kind of went like that until I finally started up the car. It is now emitting carbon and I am a zombie. What can I disable or override until a mechanic can take care of this? Is it a mechanical problem? A goofed-up sensor? Is this tied to a computer chip problem?

My wife was driving our 2012 Prius C that we bought new three months ago and as we were backing out of a parking space the horn sounded in a stuttering pattern. She stopped and the horn did too. As she continued to back up the horn stuttered again, this time I was watching her hands and the steering wheel. She was not touching it except in a normal driving manner. Nothing touching the center of the steering wheel. Looking over the dashboard displays we saw nothing abnormal.
As we drove out of the parking lot the horn fully sounded for a split second then stopped. We turned left onto the street and as she straightened the wheel the horn started blowing like it was in alarm mode; on-off-on-off. We pulled into a parking lot, shut off the car and the horn stopped. Drove 12 miles home with no further problem.

We have a 2013 Prius v two that is 5 months old. It has NO alarm system. This morning while sitting in our garage the car sounded as if a car alarm went off. The lights started flashing and the horn went off and on for 10 seconds or so. This happened three times over a period of 2 hours. There is no car alarm in this car.
I turned on the car to see if there were any error messages. We are coming up on the 5000 mile maintenance and the indicator for that was on. There were no error messages.

I had a flat tire and used the spare. I took my 2007 santa fe in to the shop to get the tire replaced and an oil change. The 'shop' put the spare back where it belongs.
Now my keyless entry locks the doors (audible) but does not flash the lights or honk the horn. The lights flash when unlocking and when pressing the panic button. It all worked correctly when I dropped it off at the 'shop'. What to look for?

Ok. Im going to keep this as short as possible. I bought my 05 passat 1.8t AWM TIP used in 09 with 44k
At around 90k I started getting a Random misfire only at idle. And it would be a different cylinder, not always the same would come back after clearing. The RPMs would be very low like around 840. And i think it should be around 920-960. That seems to be one of the main issues. Everything on the car is stock.
So basically, If my CEL starts flashing, and I clear it, I could drive a million miles with no misfires, but as soon as it starts to idle they come back ( I do have vag-com) and know how to use it for basic functions.
This is what has been done:
July 2011:
Engine rebuild (bad piston rings due to clogged cat converter)
Timing belt Kit (Timing was off 5 degrees!!!)
brand new turbo KO3, and Oil feed line
DV
N75 valve
Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter
Fuel Pressure regulator
MAF sensor
ECU swapped out (old ECU would not go through all steps for Throttle body alignment)
So, after all this and 3 weeks later, I get the car back and it ran great the whole way home. Put it in park waited 5 seconds, and the random misfires came back. So it went back to the shop the next day.

Crank Position sensor
Cam position sensor
Compression test ( to make sure he didn't make a mistake while rebuilding motor) Results were Perfect
Leakdown test
Map sensor
Another MAF
2 O2 sensors
Upgraded DV
Fuel injectors
Removed engine wiring harness and OHMed every single wire. Nothing wrong
OEM Coilpacks
3 sets of copper plugs
Throttle body was swapped with 2 others from known working cars.
Trans pan replaced fluid flushed and new trans filter
I have heard this is a fairly common thing on the B5.5 models...

Celebrating the new ride - a real solid, luxury car. Noticed a small motor racket in the garage. traced back to the rear e-brake. Start-stop and it went away. Saw plenty of threads on brake noise - experienced this problem while parked (hours later)?

I have a 2011 Toyota Camry 4 Cylinder LE. When the car has been parked for a period of time 2hours plus, I hear a noise coming from the engine right in front of the Driver Seat. The noise only happens on the first acceleration after its been parked. It only happens once.
It sounds like something moves or shifts into place.

My wife left her newer 2013 Prius "on" at work....by this I take to mean she did not hit the on/off button when leaving the car. to turn off the car I asked if it started ok, and she reported yes; however on return from the gym about 3 miles away, she says she noticed the Hybrid Battery bars going down very quickly now and the gas-engine on almost the whole time.

Last night I was driving in my 2003 jetta on the intersate at 65mph with the cruise control on. As I came into a turn I had to tap the brakes. As soon as I did the check engine light came on. The car was doing fine so I drove home from school. Today I drove the car to work which is a five minute drive, and back with no problem. I later went to grab lunch and bring it home and then I noticed the check engine light started flashing. I then felt the engine start to stutter, as if it was misfiring. We had the windshield defrost when we started to smell a rotten egg smell. Luckily we were pulling into our drive when we smelled the odor. I immediately turned off the car and got out. I couldn't smell the rotten egg smell, but I did smell burning plastic. I didn't see any smoke and could not pinpoint the cause of the smell.

1995 ranger. 132k miles. I have been having an intermittent starting problem. I replaced the battery which was 3+ years old. I thought that cured the issue because the truck started without a problem then, the same problem occurred. I started the truck and drove about 10 miles. Parked it for about 2 hrs. Went out and tries to start it. The engine cranked, but would not start.
Tried a second time and would not start.
I turned on the lights and proved the battery was good.
Tried to start it and it turned over.
I took it to a shop and they could not fine the problem.
I asked if it was a possible problem with the solenoid, alternator,
They said if it was those the engine would not turn and you would just hear a click.
They drove it for a week and it happened to their technician but he said he did not have his equipment to check it.
He got it started after a few tries as I did and got it back to the shop. Ran a scan.
Four codes returned that really did not identify the issue - P0231, P1701, P0340, P1270. They cleared the codes and drove it again. They checked the codes. It showed code P0340. The shop says the code states to replace the cam position sensor and installing an updated DPFE sensor.
I have been driving it for about a week on and the problem has not resurfaced yet. A friend whom I work with does some car maintenance told me it is a dead spot on the starter and to replace it.

I wrote about the problem I was having back in Jan 2014 (engine would crank too long if I left the car parked for 30 mins to 4 hrs) ..... well, I finally brought it o a good diagnosis tics place and some of the guys that replied to me we're correct ..... they told me that the crankshaft position sensor (1of 2 sensors) was faulty and replaced it.

A couple weeks ago I bought a 2001 VW Jetta with 176,000 miles on it. The car runs well, but for the past four days this has been happening:
Every time I start the car, after it's been off for a couple hours, neither the gas nor the brake pedal work. I can push them down, and I hear the car trying to respond but it doesn't do anything (well, it does move a little, as though it's in neutral). Then, when I turn the car off and then turn it immediately back on, both pedals are back to normal and work perfectly fine again. It's happened every time I start the car for the past few days.

I have a 99 Passat Brake lights are not working, but center strip is. Replaced bulbs & fuse Could it be switch? Is center strip on a different circuit? Check engine light came on recently and then went out.

I have a 99 passat variant with the 1.8T. I recently put in an Evo intake, forge dv(reversed), denso iridiums and an upsolute chip and ever since I put the intake in I hear a honking air sound from under the hood. I only hear it for a little bit when I reach a certain point on the gas pedal then it goes away until I reach that point again under throttle. It's like a really low car horn sound. I know it can't be normal for my mods but it started ever since I put in my intake. It's just annoying. Can it be a leak in the intercooler hose or a vacuum leak. I can't figure it out I looked under the car and the intercooler hoses seem fine.

Went down to my garage after the Prius had been off for at least 5 hours and heard a whirring kind of like a fan in the back half of the vehicle. I had never heard this before and it went on for at least 5 minutes then quit. My garage was probably around 60 degrees for most of that time, fwiw. Seems like the area of the battery fan but why would that need to run?

Is it possible to change the honking confirmation when locking the car, to the "chirp" like on the newer CC's? I think its a much classier sound.
