Has anyone developed lactose intolerance while pregnant? And did your baby have it after being born? My husband has always been lactose intolerant and just recently I've become the same way and wondered if it was actually the baby's way of making me avoid it..
View 1 Repliesi was diagnosed with significant diverticular in jan 2013 each time I have a flare up I require augmentin antibiotics these flare ups seem to be every 2/3 months now hence I am left with horrendous ibs due to the antibiotics . Today I went to a natural fitness centre as I could not convince my gp I thought I had food intolerances now. I biofeedback scan was done on me and the results were wheat intolerance lactose intolerance and refined sugar intolerance!!!!!! My question is my ibs is not constipation or diarrhoea just the need to have BO a lot especially after meals but I have been told by drs I need a high fibre diet to prevent the pouches becoming infected how can I have this type of diet if I am intolerant to wheat ?

View 1 RepliesI have just been diagnosed with lactose intolerance. After, literally years of suffering, I finally have an answer to my problems. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has this and what you suffered? I mean, this seemingly little thing has caused me to become bedridden! I ate a diet LOADED with lactose prior to diagnosis and honestly felt like I was dying over the last two years in particular. I had severe diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, brain-fog, anxiety attacks...the list goes on... I had my appendix out in Oct 2013 too, which I can't be sure was related, but it was horrendously painful any way!
The symptoms I had, I put down to various things and was convinced I had parasites, which I don't have. I just could not fathom why I was so ill. I had a food intolerance test and eggs came up positive, so I eliminated them from my diet at the time, but I had little relief as I was still eating a high-lactose diet, not knowing that I was intolerant.
I have now eliminated all lactose AND eggs from my diet and in one day, I felt better. I had no abdominal pain, no urgency to poo, and no headache - which I have literally, constantly had for years. It's remarkable. I also didn't suffer bad dreams, which is so weird, as I have actually become used to my dreams being bad/negative and it became normal for me. It's such a relief to be able to rest without disruption!
Did or do any of you suffer with really bad symptoms down to lactose intolerance? Also, as I am new to this and have had to overhaul my diet, does anyone have advice on foods I should avoid, etc?

The doctor wanted me to do milk since I'm gestational diabetes but I'm also lactose intolerant and now constipated I took a stool softener 6 hours ago, drank close to 2 bottles of water, holding food down for now but I need remedies please
View 9 RepliesOk, has anyone developed migraines with FS? After my cortisone shot fiasco a few weeks ago, I have been having awful headaches. I have never had migraines before, and had one yesterday. Called the doc and she wanted me to go to ER, but I frankly could not drive and no one was home. Finally just fell asleep (somehow). I feel so off today. Will call doc in a bit, but wow, really do we need to add more to FS? At least it took the focus off the pain in my shoulder and arm! LOL
I have never had a headache that bad in my life. Maybe it was something from the Kelalog 40 they injected in my joint, I did have an allergic reaction to the iodine or something and ended up in ER same day as the injection a few weeks ago. Is this a normal thing the, the nasty headaches.. that rest of you have experienced?
Mind you, I have no curve in my neck right now (doc said due to the severe pain I am in) and the headache yesterday was from my shoulder, up my neck to the back of my head.
I've got a rash between my legs and on my thighs it's really sore has anyone else had this?
View 5 RepliesI recently noticed that some mild OCD I developed before entering high school has gotten worse. While it used to be compulsive list-making about memories it has turned into touching things/thinking things/blinking/breathing/walking either two or four times. If I touch something on one side, I have to touch it on the other. Many rituals have to do with time, and sometimes if I'm reading a page it's more about completing a symmetry task than actually reading. Memories are "things" which can be visualized like I'm currently living in them. This gets worse during times of high stress.
My question is, why did this develop when I was fourteen? I was always a bit sensitive to certain sounds and dirty surfaces, but those mild obsessions are NOTHING like what I experience now. I assume that every ritual is a stress-relief technique and that since my mind's always racing, my brain feels a need to organize things. But I'm not an organized person, and when I'm feeling low, I almost never complete my work. I can obsess over certain past actions for hours and analyze situations to the point where I'm practically making up other people's reactions or pretending I'm inside their head.
Few years ago, i was diagnosed with gonorrhea and I was left untreated for 1.5 months.
Later, my symptom of gonorrhea has gone. However, symptoms of prostatitis developed and lasted till now (its almost
3 years). I have taken so many antibiotics for a year. But finally they seemed useless to my pain of prostatitis (so i quit it). Now the symptoms are mild. But it really bothers me. I have thought to suicide, because I think i am still contagious of STD. I am afraid gonorrhea is hiding in my prostate, causing prostatitis.
I have done so many tests (PCR of semen, prostatic fluid). They came back neg. However, I wonder if these tests are false neg (because the false neg reports made me left untreated my problem of gonorrhea. I am afraid i would pass STD to my gf...I am afraid i could not father a child..these problems annoy me so much..Sometimes i would think its better to die rather than suffer..can someone professional or experienced help me?
For as long as I can remember I have suffered with fart/baby nappy breath especially after eating chocolate and ice-cream, but worst of all even after brushing teeth and drinking water etc. I'm lactose intolerant, but never really had stomach pains unless I drink milk or eat ice-cream. Also my saliva stinks and I have a whitish tongue.
I'm now in my 40's and finally plucked up courage to go to my GP.
I had an h-pylori breath test in July this year and surprise, surprise was positive. I had metronidazole, Amoxycillin and omeprazole for 1 week. At the time my saliva stopped stinking and I thought I was getting better breath. However a few weeks on and my mouth tasted horrible again and I could smell my own fart/garbage stench when talking to people.
I asked my doctor to retest for h pylori, but he said I need to wait a year, even though the test kit says you can repeat a month after taking antibiotics. How else can I tell if the treatment worked, and then tell if it is the culprit of my bb?
I know this is nothing to do with my mouth care as I have an immaculate regime and people often say how white my teeth are. Unfortunately people also keep brushing their noses when I'm talking and I get the odd "have you farted?" comment.
I am married with kids and it never bothers me when I'm at home, but I know the problem exists and am desperate to solve or at least reduce the problem.
I have an asian friend and everytime he drinks alcohol, not much, maybe 2-3 ciders, he seems normal drunk for a little while, like just running around for a little while except that he goes very bright red Then after about half an hour he suddenly collapses on the floor. We can't wake him up. Sometimes he will come round and open his eyes or talk for a little while but then he will lose consciousness again and won't be able to walk. Then he will sleep for around an hour and wake up completely normal. I know one of the symptoms of alcohol intolerance is flushing but haven't seen one of the common symptoms being losing consciousness. Do you think it is just alcohol intolerance or there is something underlying? He did drink quite a lot once and he also vomited as well as being very flushed and losing consciousness for a longer period of time

View 1 RepliesI am a woman of 42 very energetic but one morning I woke up with the most severe pain in my right shoulder and pain down my arm I started crying because I was scared my husband told me to get an ambulance but I said I would be ok, I got dressed for work I dropped the twins off at school then went to work, I walked down to the hospital that is where I work and my boss took one look at me and told me to get to a&e, I went for the x ray then was taken straight to HDU and they told me my lung had collapsed and they needed to put a tube in god I have never felt pain like it, I cried and screamed all the way through, after that I was put on the ward and 6 days later it had not healed up there was a hole in it so they had to transfer me to leeds where I could have the operation done, I had a tiny bit of my lung removed and it was stuck on to my chest wall with irritant powder it helps the lung stick better, when I came to after the operation I was in so much pain and the tablets were not helping they were trying all sorts to get it right, I have been home nearly two weeks and the pain is still there but not has bad its more my ribs and across my stomach and that is what is worrying me and the chance that I might have to have it done again and also there is a 40% chance it can happen to my left lung, I am so scared to do anything in case it happens again, but I am glad I had it done, but it goes to show it can happen to anyone.

View 8 RepliesMy youngest son is 3 years and 3 months old. He is very tiny and under weight and is diagnosed as failure to thrive.
For over 2 years he has been, very cranky all the time and emotional, poor appetite refusing to eat any thing apart from bread, cereal and pasta. He has low iron and is taking iron supplements and is tired a lot.
He us under the care of two paediatricians and a dietician who so far have not been able to find a cause for his problems and why he is so small.
One of the paediatricians came to our house to see my son. She examined him and felt his tummy etc. then asked is he had been tested for celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Which he hasn't.
The paediatricians said it would be a good idea to get him tested and she would refer him to other paediatrician to arrange for tests to be done.
She also said it might be a good idea to try removing wheat and gluten from his diet.
So we removed gluten and wheat from his diet straight away. He has had no wheat or gluten in his diet for 4 weeks now and we are seeing big improvements. He is like a different boy, he is a lot more happy, less tired, he is doing normal poos fro the first time in a very long time and he is getting his appetite back. He is finally for the first time in over 2 years not refusing food and is starting to eat proper meals.
Although we are seeing big improvement I am beginning to think that the paediatricians advice to remove wheat and gluten from his diet was perhaps bad advice as I realise now that you need to be eating gluten and wheat to be tested.
My son is due to see second paediatrician in 3 weeks time. I don't know if they will do tests then or if we will have to come back another time. Should I re add wheat to his diet now so he can be tested, will 3 weeks be long enough.
Was it a bad thing to remove gluten and wheat from his diet.
Does it sound like he might have celiac disease or a gluten intolerance

View 1 RepliesI was never a big drinker, but lately I can't drink vodka or tequila without immediately getting a headache and pain behind my eyes. I'm talking one, maybe two drinks and I feel miserable. Some beers have the same impact - I always loved a good stout, but now I get a headache before I even finish one. I can no longer go out and enjoy a few drinks with friends. (They love it - built in DD).
I was diagnosed in 2011 - and this intolerance to alcohol has gotten worse in the past two years. Is there a possibility that MS can cause this??? I can't imagine it would, but not sure what else could be going on.
I am dealing with an intolerance to Thyroid meds. Having been diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis 5 years ago my family doc has prescribed every Thyroid med she could think of and various strengths. Side effects were thick itchy rashes, shakiness, massive headaches and tremors. I stopped taking the Thyroid Meds for 2 years and believe me it was no picnic. I had no strength, terrible digestion, heat and cold intolerance, memory loss and on and on and on. I am now on a very low dosage.025mg. My last t3 & t4 test indicates that my levels are very low but because of all the negative side effects I have experienced my doc is terrified to increase the dosage. Along with Fibro,Celiac,Diverticulosis and Hashimoto's life is a bowl of cherries . I would like to hear from someone who is also iodine intolerant and is there a different path I could take..
View 4 RepliesI am 18 years old and I think I have developed an anxiety disorder from smoking weed. I had 2 small puffs of weed from when I was in my early eighteens and I got a bit high but not much at all. I was with some good friends and the effects of being high wore off. When I joined University I smoked less than half a blunt with my new friends because it was late, I couldn’t go home and it was the only thing they were doing. I had this bad anxiety attack when I was shaking, my throat was dry and I was tired. I could tell this was a bad panic attack and I felt like I was fighting for my life. I had to go to sleep to calm myself down. The next day I felt fine, I had a shower and continued with my life. A month later, I was with two of my mates and they bought a bit of weed. I had two puffs of it to regulate the amount in my mates University room and tried to remain as calm as possible to avoid a panic attack. It worked and we went to a night club. The next day I felt a bit anxious. The day after I went to my friend’s university corridor and knocked on it to let me. However, I smelt a tiny bit of weed through the door and I started to panic again. I had to lie on my bed and I missed two days of lectures. I was having fast heart palpitations, I was shaking and I couldn’t stop worrying about weed. Every time I am in a stressful moment such as getting to lectures on time makes me slightly panicky and have moments when I can feel in my head an adrenaline rush which is how the panic attacks start. I had a panic attack in one lecture while sober and I thought to myself that when I learnt my lesson not to go near weed it was too late. I have become more anti-social because I feel too anxious to be around the friends I have smoked a bit of weed with. It took 3 weeks for my panic attacks to go but my heart feels it beats a bit faster than usual. I also have this ache in my chest. I went to my GP and he said it was not due to the weed because I did very little and it was due to stress and anxiety. When I do University work and I stress a bit more my heart starts to palpitate and I don’t know how to calm myself down. Every day I have this feeling of anxiety all over my body. The weed couldn't have been laced with other drugs because my mates would have seen it was.
I worry about hearing weed and I have this big anxiety attack when I smell it which makes me not want to do anything. Has the weed damaged my body in any way? I know quite a few people who have smoked weed and they are fine. I became sick once because I smelt weed. Will my brain ever repair itself to make me feel normal again without this big anxiety attack and chest ache? I guess too much of anything is bad for you but for me, that is not the case and I hate how I feel every day.
I have one partially erupted wisdom tooth on the upper left side. None of the others have erupted. It has the flap over the back half that hasn't erupted. I had worked very hard to keep it cleaned out as it didn't become painful when it stayed clear of debris. Now I no longer have to worry about the flap, but a pocket that has developed on the outside of my gum line in the tissue next to the tooth. As if where the cheek connects with the top of the gum line. It is quite painful and produces a foul taste in my mouth, especially in the morning. Has anyone had this happen before? What is it and what should I do?
